mad behave...
Hi Wolves wow!! that is truly unbelievable that employees could behave like that. I mean imagine someone with cancer or lupus or osteoporosis or any other degenerative illness checking how long they can have off. Truly shocking
AND I CANNOT BELIEVE ROYAL MAIL HUMAN RESOURCE TELL THEM...…. LUDICROUS
skier sick leave is an utter joke... they play the game and even call human resource to clarify when they are clear so can start again....FACT
Posties have always had huge "sickness" and absenteeism levels. Normally on a Friday, lol. Know someone who worked in a Midlands sorting office in the 1990s. The management would track the weather and local-football-game forecasts, one-week ahead, because they knew they would have to double or triple their hiring of temporary workers on a Weds or Fri, if a big match was on, or if it was gonna be a hot, sunny weekend!
Scamp for a comparison whats the current sick absence levels and attrition rates in your current Amazon depot will be interesting to see if there is a major difference with RMG. Thanks
Scampthedog thanks for sharing you must have made some good contacts during your time working in RMG in Warrington. The incidents you mention must have been quite extreme that you don't want to mention them here but obviously your contact was happy to share. Anything that could relate to a criminal case I would have thought should have been kept confidential. I am again surprised that your contact is also disclosing sick absence figures when you say high what were they ? even more concerned that he/she is disclosing what people are mainly off sick with i.e stress. New buildings generally bring some issues but hopefully these can be worked through. I did take over a brand new build centre and was heavily involved in the planning covering all aspects like facilities, parking, rest room, staff restaurant etc and thankfully we didnt encounter any major issues, well air con was always a pain as some wanted it off/on etc etc. Re your point on sick absence this is always under review and reported daily/weekly etc and I was personally involved in case conferences etc to keep under control perhaps this is being even more tightly controlled but I wouldn't expect anything new in this area. I agree VR will only be granted under certain circumstances and criteria and when the removal of a post is justified. I know in most cases now for VR these have to get concurrence at Board level and the jobs had to be removed from the functions templates/headcount numbers. I don't think there will be any large numbers of VR agreed so as you say good news no massive payouts and with natural wastage running at about 8% per annum hopefully this will align to the required reductions in the necessary areas. I am hoping to meet up with a senior parcelforce ex colleague based in North West (so likely to have involvement in the new hub) before Christmas and hopefully I will be able to share any updates that are not confidential. Worth keeping in mind the whole transformation is not based on the new hub in Warrington but countrywide. As you say somethings to ponder and consider.
Thought I would make a few phone calls today regarding RMG's transformation plans...particularly why being behind on schedule; one of the persons concerned works at the new hub in Warrington. He gave me some shocking news concerning several incidents that have occurred over the last 72 hours...so shocking in fact that I will not write about them in any detail. One of these incidents will most certainly be followed up by criminal prosecution. Apparently things are not at all going well at the site...the building itself would seem to be the problem. Intrigued, I made a couple more calls. I found out that in the last few days a high level Royal Mail executive has visited two sites in the area...the new hub being one of them. It transpires that these two sites have one of the highest records of sick absence in the whole of RMG. Boy -- does that say something!! Stress is being touted as the main problem...would explain the friction that is taking place at the new hub (there are also many issues with the car parking facilities that are causing problems for staff and agency alike). It would seem that RMG is no longer going to tolerate this sort of behaviour (regarding the abuse of sickness absence) from its employees...hence this might well the start of a nationwide review ( and long overdue if it is). It would also appear that V.R is no longer on the menu; I have been reliably informed a postie politely inquired of the lady concerned of the possibility of this...her reply - no chance! V.R would, of course, be only for those employees who would be eligible due to meeting the required criteria through age and length of service. Again, good news for the shareholder -- the cost would be astronomical! I did previously comment on what could be the cost several days ago: based just on 5000 people alone taking up the offer the cost was hundreds of million, never mind the added cost of the pension enhancements. So there you have it: my little contribution...something to ponder on anyways.
