Reading between the lines it looks like the bid needs to start with a 9 before they will consider putting it to shareholders?
Let’s see?
When a company is in a takeover situation the market has to be informed of sharedealings by institutions and these forms provide details.
Great to see this SP making ground.
Excuse my ignorance but what do all the Form 8.5's mean in the RNS?
At least twice in the bookmaking field recently with both William Hill and Entain, Apollo get themselves all hot and bothered letting it be known that they were going to compete with real bidders like Caesars for Hills and MGM for Entain.
And Apollo did nothing, except retreat with their tails between their legs. Not even a sniff of a counter-bid.
Pearson is a great turnaround situation. Has been for years actually, but this time it looks as if management have a recipe that might well work. But, as for Apollo and their highly conditional offers, in my opinion pigs will fly before this bunch of blowhards puts any serious cash down. Are they trying to put Pearson in play? I have no idea, but I will eat a small hat if we see a serious offer from them by 8th April.
Dividend up and buy backs announced.
In fact, thinking about it, the sharp increase in SP timed with the results ... hmmmmm.
They've mixed up everything in their vision, mission and values statements. Then they've got operational results KPIs, not strategic KPIs as they do not have a strategy. Business divisions are well categorised, but nothing on the orgnasion nd process behind them. Vague statements about people.
If results are improving it is not down to Pearson, I wouldnt think, it is the changing climate in education.
Btw, Train sold of a 5% stake as presumably he has another home for his money (ULVR), so expect SP weakness wirh this overhang to clear.
Those two appointments announced today look pretty good quality and quite significant to the direction of travel intended by the company. Good to hear still in line with expectations this year.

As expected trading update was not as bad as market reacted hence up she goes which was to be expected especially with the broker guidnace
JP Morgan keeps overweight at 9.30 from 9.60., Barclays has different views that is how the brokers work.
Barclays are the biggest joke for target prices, they just pick the current price!
I’m in. Similarly I’ve started small but this looks overdone considering the fundamentals.
Contrarian as ever, i added my 1st tranche at £6. Starting small, 1 of 10.
3% dividend and potential upside, will add on the way down.
This has been a very dsappointing investment but you can't win them all. The price is well below the 200 day SMA, a definite sell signal.
The one thing about their "customers" is that there will be some more next year. This years cohort are getting jobs rather than going back to school, but this can change just as quickly. Currently, at these prices, looks a good entry point.
