Give the propaganda a rest for 2 mins. Figure out whats really going on in Ukraine, until then zip it
Being prepared is NOT the same as declaring war blue. A big difference and i highly doubt russia will or even is willing to as they known the consequences for both sides.
"“We’ll state clearly that Russia poses a direct threat to our security,”"
https://english.alarabiya.net/News/world/2022/06/29/Russia-poses-a-direct-threat-to-NATO-security-Stoltenberg
Just astonishing the extent Putin messed up. Just jaw dropping stupidity. He is now being laughed at. The nat he said was threatening didn't exist in February. But by June, it will. And be under no illusions, nato is getting ready for all out war with Russia. Won't be long now before British squaddies will be taking selfies in Red Square.
Thanks for all your posts.
I seldom agree with BB but I think it's time to get something done fast before the Russians get too big for their boots and get carried away
I should add, originally the opportunity to revisit Minsk deal was available and some hoped May 9th would have been used as the opportunity.
Russia has proven it has no interest in a solution, only its land grab. In response to the terrorist campaign Russia must not, NOW, be allowed any gain including back to 2014 with the initial land grab in Crimea.
Russia is 100% responsible for waking up Nato and the sooner it feels the Nato Jackboot kicking down walls in Moscow the better.
"The reason I feel that this could escalate is because we were told four or five months ago Russia would be totally outclassed in UKR and would be wthdrawing not only fom the south and east but also from crimea.
Exactly the opposite has hppened."
100% absolute undiluted CRAP!
The narrative was the 180 degrees, the exact opposite. It was Russia who were supposed to walk all over the country and have failed.
Roxy, you’re not correct with your assumptions. We weren’t told Russia would be outclassed, most thought the Ukrainian military would get trashed. That’s not been the case.
Sanctions were said to be a longer term tool and effects wouldn’t be immediate.
Russian economy is being propped up by the central bank and government but for how long can it be sustained.
Ruble is stronger now yes but since it’s an exporter and domestic costs are in ruble the budget will come under increasing pressure going forward.
I don’t want Russia to collapse or even VP booted out but the actions taking place have no real justification. Who leads Russia is a question for the locals, how Russia integrates and behaves internationally is a question for the international community
Folks!!!
Nobody is an expert here and neither am I.
The reason I feel that this could escalate is because we were told four or five months ago Russia would be totally outclassed in UKR and would be wthdrawing not only fom the south and east but also from crimea.
Exactly the opposite has hppened.
On the economic front we were told their economy would crumble. Again exactly the opposite has happened.
I am not a fan of Russia and I find it very upsetting and annoying what they have done in UKR .
But you have to take the facts into account. Just look at the facts
Talking absolute*
@roxy on this one you are absolutely trash. Descending to Big Blue levels. Or could be the same person?
#Filterwarning
And what is the existence of Kaliningrad itself if not a threat of a forward staging base to attack nordic states? Kaliningrad was a very clear threat to the Baltic region yet it as accommodated and even granted a land access route through a ato country. You have to be pretty paranoid to read that accomodation as a threat. Just another spectacular debacle of Putin's total cluck up.
So what, the UK can park Nukes in the sea just outside of St Petersburg. NATO can put them on the Russian border in Finland. The Americans can park an Aircraft carrier with a fleet of nuclear stealth bombers outside Crimea with a battle ground of nuclear armed subs and destroyers.
There is nothing Russia can do that the west can do to them 10x worse. They should shut up embarrassing themselves. Before someone gives them a bloody nose.
The war hasnt even escalated to giving UAF the 300km rockets.... What happens if the US gives them Tomahawks?
Russia is a joke.
My concern for Poly is that Russia has no way back from this. The more crazy Russian Duma people speak the more the west realizes the whole regime has to go before its let back in to the world.
Roxy both sweden and finland have both categorically stated already they won't house nukes in their categories.
As for kaliningrad, they have neen home to weapons before so that is nothing new.
They said UKR was a special case also and that they would respond to Finland but were not overly threatened , or some such words
roxy2020 - "This is yet another sign that VP is not giving in to threats from NATO"
Or that NATO isn't giving in to threats from Russia to nuke every country that opposes its actions in Ukraine.
@chique
You seem to have forgotten why UKR was invaded in the first place.
The Russians made it absolutely clear they didnt want nukes on their doorstep.
That as one of the most principal reasons Moving them on the border with Finland/Sweden doesnt improve the situation.
ATB
The deployment of a deterrent is exactly that - a deterrent
Why do you think it wont stop at UKR ?
Nothing you have referred to suggests this and so it is all in your head.
" This could be more serious" lots of things going on could be!!
One of Putin's closest allies, former President Dmitry Medvedev, said last month that Russia could deploy nuclear weapons and hypersonic missiles in the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad if Finland and Sweden joined NATO.
This is yet another sign that VP is not giving in to threats fom NATO or anyone else. In other words he want stop at UKR.
What a sobering thought. This could be more serious.
