Since we're at it how about buying games workshop for around £5 and thinking Im so clever selling at £7? My reasoning was "who the heck wants these ugly toys anyway? Its just a fad" LOL and my eldest at 15 called me crazy when I told her what I had done.
I had £50k LAM at 10p....sold it at 25 thinking I was a hero.
But I did also buy a whole load of TSLA a year ago which turned out well.
you win some, you lose some.
There seems to be large resistance at 134. This as it stands is the most undervalued share in the FTSE !!!
Lol.. yeah I remember, rumours were rife with so many fallen angel stocks... No-one, especially at our age group had ever seen a fall like this over the entire world indices... fear was "How low can it go"...BUT the big boys at the top knew! Us lil fish were not in the know!
Probably never see a time/period like that again..in our lifetime anyway!
Amazing that NEX went from nearly £5 to 66p in days. I think there was a rumour circling that it was going down the pan & they had to RNS to say they were safe for a while!
God, the memories. I literally had my finger over the buy button for Stagecoach @32p, damn. Nearly tapped Cine as well @sub 20p. The list is endless. The problem sometimes is you feel trapped in a share. I think that's what happened to me with NEX. I sat there while it dipped endlessly & saw loads of great buy opps sail past me, & eventually caved in. Patience is the key virtue in this gig for sure!
I bought NEX as well mate...but I got in at just under 74p..IIRC...defo in the 70's tho...and sold nearer to 200...on the first rise up, after which it retraced... AND at that time or in that period when Covid was ripe in March... Markets were like a Candy shop with a big 'Closing down sale' sign hanging outside... Anyone who was liquid was having great fun. Was a great op tbh
I've been there Paddyboy1. Lost lot of my profit in CINE by selling it around 40p. Its over 90p now.
Would have made hell of a profit if I have stayed but luckily got in AML at the right time and recovered almost everything.
Sometime trading does work but equally you can loose out on a bigger gain, so now days, I keep my core holding intact and play around with the 20/30 % my reserve cash.
Got a good holding in RR, and PFC and some in GGP and SOLG.
I am feeling that PFC will outperform all my portfolio soon.
GL.
Test i think we all have stories relating to lost gains due to impatience or something. My one was NEX. I had loads of shares in there. Originally bought @147, then tranches as it dropped. My lowest batch was @115. I stayed in their very patiently for 3 months. Got fed up & bailed out for peanuts of a gain. It's now sailed way over £3. It would have been a huge huge profit for me but instead it's another lesson in impatience. I've got other tales of woe, but overall done OK on almost all my shares. My only loss was IAG which i bought into at wrong time last year. Anyway these experiences have taught me when you can get in on a good solid share like this with good fundamentals, set a target price & stick with it. Mine here is 170 & i going nowhere till that at least is achieved!
@Paddyboy1
Totally agreed, once we pass 135/136, we will be touching 150 in no time. It's imminent.
Not selling this even if retraced under 125 as the whole sector is buoyant so this has to catch up.
I'm very positive on this share, but it still hurts to see it dropping back again. Just as it seemed we were making good gains. It could be a trick to let in a big buyer, or let out a shorter though.
Indeed! Just need to look at Tullow which is currently being re-rated after languishing for ages in the 20's. Now 42p and rising (yeah, wish I'd bought some).
So, time does wonderful things, be patient and our day in the sun will come soon. This is one of, if not the most, biggest bargains on LSE.
if this can break through the 135/6 level it will race away!!
Modestus, Agree. It is frustrating when the market is upwards in the sector and this is lethargic. But, the catch up will be quick I imagine, when it turns. I'm content to wait.
Halliburton as well as Schlumberger reached a new year high yesterday. HAL quintupled since its lowest point. PFC has an incredible lot to catch up. It will happen, don't ask me when, but it will happen...
