Neil,
Very briefly, without wishing to take up the PANR blog with other 'stuff', completely 'get' where you're coming from, but if you are found to mislead regulated markets with misstatements, you're in a whole load of ****. That video shouted " would you trust this man?" Perhaps of a nervous disposition?
@cbaron I agree with your general point, but in the case of (£50M market cap) COPL I'm not really surprised the price "only" doubled post the announcement of a billion barrels - it was based only on the RNS statement of the CEO alone. Who has repayments for a $45M debt starting to become due this month, a liking for frequent placings, a history of inept management (one company of his going bust), and looking nervous rather than elated in a youtube interview on the afternoon of the announcement.
I bought in, in a hurry, on Monday. Did my due diligence on Tuesday evening - sold Wednesday morning. Whoops!
Just remember the confidence shown by eSeis (in the 2019 RNS)-
"eSeis will undertake the work for a heavily discounted rate (which management estimate to be a saving of $1.5 - $2m to the company) in exchange for a 1% overriding royalty interest. Such a performance-based remuneration structure achieves the dual objective of aligning eSeis' interest with that of Pantheon shareholders and of preserving cash resources. It is important to note the Alaskan leases are state government leases which carry a significantly lower royalty burden than most leases in the Lower 48 States of the USA. This deal would increase the lease royalty rates to c.17.6% across the project area with e-Seis. By way of comparison, the royalty burden on Pantheon's East Texas leases averages 25%."
I do love old Buffett, he’s recently heavily invested in my long term investment and pushed the price to a record high…
He knows his beans
Fingers and toes crossed :)
Yeah! Makes sense. Hopefully, after this drill season, 88e will be able to get the weighing scales out? Place your bets.....
What he meant was that in the short term, share prices can be massively distorted / distended by trivial things like speculation. These distortions can be very large and last a surprisingly long period of time. i.e. they can explain the 88 situation. However, in the LONG term, the stock market is as weighing machine, i..e it will eventually value things "correctly" based on tangible things like cash flow, dividends, profits etc.

..........not sure how to interpret that? What do you think Buffett meant?
Well, cbaron, as Buffett famously said of the stock market, in the short term, it is a counting machine. In the long term, it is a weighing machine!

You are very naughty Slackbladder!
This subject has been debated ad nauseum across the fence, as you well know.
Hype is one reason and small PIs' predilection for penny shares is another, IMHO. There seems to be a view that irrespective of risk (another duster), the penny share has a greater potential to add value in multiples - a view that you get more bang for your buck. A casino mentality. That's not true of all, of course, but it applies to many who are hyping it up.
Fundamentals will always shine through eventually, though it seems to take longer. Another good example currently is COPL. they've even reached the point, as announced on 10 January of happening across a find which is actually starting to deliver oil to the surface and the SP is no higher now, even after a recent rise, than it was in October last year.
I'm not complaining , as I'm in both PANR and 88e with a much higher proportion here. Happy to wait but doubt I'll risk waiting for the results of our neighbours planned drill, polar bears permitting ;-), just ride the wave up to spud.
Only going back a month and this was going to fly
Hold on to your hats and all that …..
& Jay is smiling like a Cheshire Cat or the cat that got the cream
What’s going on?
Busy looking over the fence at the neighbours?
Hopefully things will start change over the next few weeks
so my investment would have been worth it
