Yeah I got lucky first time round and sold all over 1.2 up to 1.7ish (not being wise with hindsight, posted my exit at the time for posterity!)
And again I agree with much you say except for the fact nothing has changed. In the rigged AIM game sentiment as important as fundamentals and sentiment couldn’t build prior to the placing. I fully expect good news to be better received…
We shall see, I don’t have your technical knowledge but I’ve been on AIM long enough to see how different the impact of an RNS can be when you perceive to be walking uphill not down.
Good luck all, we’re due some on this..
Jackbal - this stock was pumped right up to nearly 2p when in actuality it should have not have been higher than 0.55-0.60 or so. Since then we have had a succession of results that did not exactly blow the market's socks off coupled with the less than polished handling by the BOD of the news back in March that last year IAG failed to hit it's drilling targets! That news WAS understandable but came "right out of left field" as the yanks would say and severely shook the faith/confidence in the board. It left investors not knowing whether IAG were just not informing Oriole's board or whether it was Oriole's board that just weren't informing us - either way the market was not impressed! The market has walked away from Oriole and it will take something spectacular to bring it back on board. I am not saying that "great news" will never come but expectations (and position sizes!) should be moderated according to the present situation! There is a time for dipping your toe in the water and a time to jump in - the wise know which is which. FOMO is something that does not have much effect on me personally because of the length of time I have been doing this - I learned many years ago (the hard way of course!) that if one emotion should dominate even a little then it is preferable that it be fear rather than greed as preserving your capital MUST be the primary goal with making profit secondary - this business must be seen as a marathon not a sprint.
I am not giving up hope Dogstar.
I believed in it when i bought and still do.
Like you say, you never know what will happen with explo companies :)
Dog Star read your posts with interest and agree with much you say but I would suggest something def has changed here:
This was getting sold into every rise because many thought a placing was unavoidable and used the liquidity to exit. That spectre has been removed and that’s a big difference imo re sentiment
Alan, I bought in February after my research told me that ORR was a good medium to long term investment. As has been said by others here it was massively pumped and then dumped leaving many of us in the red. I started to sell spikes to reduce my position size and finally got out altogether back in June. I do think that Oriole has great potential but the market is now very wary of investing in the company lest they be "beached" for months before finally giving up - once bitten twice shy? It IS a shame because things could have unfolded very differently this year, we could all have had a very different experience with this company. Of course, there is still the possibility that great news could arrive and for those still invested in Oriole I hope it does. The exciting thing about small explo comps like this is that things can change very quickly so don't give up hope m8!
I came into this one thinking the possibilities are enormous to which they still are but it just keeps going down. News is taking forever which is not unusual on a lot of shares. Some positive news would be nice for once to give people and the SP a bit of an uplift regarding ORR.
Should read "...show a change in trend direction...". Apologies have been up most of the night and am being powered by umpteen coffees!!!
P.s I am talking specifically about Oriole NOT the sector itself which has little bearing on Oriole's SP.
@share12345 - I'm not sure which chart you are looking at whether weekly, daily etc but I'm not seeing anything that indicates it's "...about to turn...". The weekly chart shows that the stock is in downtrend and that the stochastic is heading down. For those of you unfamiliar with the stochastic indicator it can show a direction in trend change - but this isn't at the moment. The RSI is heading sideways and although the MACD is showing ORR is oversold that does not mean it will start going up any time soon. May I suggest that charts are of little use when dealing with a small news driven exploration company like this as the SP will stay right where it is without spectacularly positive news. I think it was back in July (possibly June) that I posted that good news will not move the dial much anymore and that every small spike would be sold into - do you know what's changed since then share12345? NOTHING! I hope for the sake of many here that "spectacular" news will eventually arrive but, if I were you, I would prepare for a long long wait. Hope this helps.
Someone said the same 3 month ago and we're still waiting
chart say it about to turn
hold on
A few folk are suggesting the sector is about to turn, ORR has been one of the worst performers this year, see the Twitter link, shows 48 sector juniors, there is also a new interview out today
