HawaiifiveO - We have had people on this board saying that we should "hold for gold" all the way from 1.95p in February down to where we are now! While some people pumped others dumped and made a fortune. I'm not saying that YOU are one of those rampers that were to blame for a number of people getting hurt but you need to be careful not to give a false impression that could misguide inexperienced investors. Oriole is a small explo company with potential but there are many such companies in this market that have just as much potential if not more. Just because the SP has bottomed (and I do agree that Oriole has probably bottomed now) it does not mean that the only direction of travel from here on is upwards because that just isn't true. This stock could rumble on sideways for months if not for a couple of years and if you have all of your investment money invested in this you will make nothing in all that time. I don't invest everything I have in one stock but newbies do and people like that can be easily misled sometimes.
I read a post earlier mentioning about the MACD cross that is visible on the weekly chart at the moment and that, considering the cross took place below the zero line,is normally a buy signal but charts must be viewed warily when it comes to small explo comps as they are so news driven the SP can move violently against it's trend on good or bad news so TA has only limited value when it comes to Oriole. I speak as someone who has studied charts for 30 years so I do know a little bit about that which I speak!
Burleigh - If you believe that there is more movement in the SP of the stock you were looking at then move over to that for a while. if you think that Oriole is going to trade sideways for a while then you could be making money while that happens. You can always come back when Oriole starts to attract investors again. It is always a risk, of course, and news could drop which sends Oriole's SP higher - it's the risk you take. I said in June(?) that it is going to take "Spectacular" news to drive the SP higher here and that the spikes would be sold into and and that any rise would be a dead cat bounce. We were waiting for the drilling results from Senala at the time and when the results finally dropped they were good but not spectacular and sure enough we got a small spike followed by the "cat". Oriole is a long term investment for those willing to wait and setting aside a small part of you funds (2%?) to invest in it and leave in the bottom draw is not a bad idea but making money with the rest of your PF funds is what will really pay the bills!
Did anyone notice the near 40% discount on today's placing at EUZ, it suggests ORR did very well to their £1.75m September placing away at the then market price.
One has to question the motives of certain individuals 'advising' folk to sell ORR shares at these basement levels, one suggestion was the share price was not worthy of reaching 1.95p in February, why not? At that level Oriole would have been capped at circa £20m - their nearest peer in Senegal was valued 5 times that number + they have no other operations or projects.
ORR at current levels is at the basement, £8m m/cap with at least £1.5m cash - anyone selling now is exceptionally foolish therefore.
Richard, for the most part people are pretty relaxed about talking about their investments on this board (which is the way it should be really) so feel free! I bought and sold ADV a few times a few months ago and have a good opinion about that stock. There a few aim stocks that are looking good including PXC,TRP,ZPHR as well as ADV (Troajan could probably add another dozen or so onto the list!). When the market generally is as skittish/volatile as it is/has been I tend not to stay in the trade too long preferring instead to use the money earmarked for high risk stocks for short-terming. When a degree of normality has returned to the situation I will go back to looking for stocks to hold a bit longer.
Advance energy and ggp are keeping my portfolio in green . Im not ramping or promoting them just stating facts. I've invested in some good companies whose time hasn't come yet but that's investing. Ten years from now hopefully our patience in these type of investments will be rewarded. I won't tough crypto good luck to those whose done well off it but it's not my type of Investment
Kutzz - Can I gently advise you to buy shares in something else while you are waiting for Oriole's SP to climb back up? Oil & Gas as well as Copper are going really well and will continue to do so for the years to come. I have bought shares in Antofagasta (the biggest copper producer in the world) this morning and expect to do OK with it (I took profits from PXC last week when it hit my price target to put into ANTO). Having one part of your PF in the green (blue?) psychologically offsets the red you are seeing with Oriole - you will be much happier generally and quality of life IS important. Antofagasta BTW owns shares in Oriole did you know that?
What I find frustrating is that I could have invested any amount of money into it any s**tcoin and because it’s the talk of the town I would probably have made cash hand over fist.
Instead, I did research and liked what I saw here with the vast potential which so far hasn’t been recognised and now I have to listen to all my mates saying “crypto’s pumping” every day and maybe I’m bitter because I’m sitting with a major loss.
Anyway, hope you’re well. At least we’re sitting fairly steady here
Troajan - They’ve been drilling for weeks already! The rig was held over in their camp through the wet season so they could start right away…
the sp seems to be holding up around the 0.40 level
ok,theres always a chance of a dip.
but when .explo/drilling work re starts in a couple of months time, then i cant see this, running in this range.
drill rigs are in high demand and labs,backloggged....so expect longer delays, than normal
anyway,if you have an high average, the next two months,in this range,or lower,to me,would be a good top up opp.
i see ecr and ccz, have jumped off,of their lower range,in recent weeks
