Just out of interest the Gov and Oxford University set the accuracy and specificity bar at 98% for a very good reason.
98% is the level of accuracy required to confidently test a whole population and be able to trust the results.
When testing a whole population, accuracy, uniformity and reliability is required.
To this end they need to use 1 test. Everybody needs to use the same test to cut out variations in results and test needs to be accurate. Control!
DYOR.
The lady doing the video presentation made me laugh when she read the instructions, and it said do not eat it.
As conveyed in the video, lots of different home tests are available but do not cut the mustard.
The Odx test from what we understand comes with the meat and potatoes.
Made in Hong kong.good old u.k gvnt. At the last resort uk plc may even buy a home grown test.
The RTC have already announced that the samples tested to date meet, and are in line with, the government requirements.
Incidentally the test being used in the video is a Chinese test by Wondfo which had apparently been rejected by the UK government for being well beneath the required accuracy. Perhaps they're being given another go (lol) as there is def more than one test being assessed in the REACT study.
97% isn't good enough, government wants 98%+
A very positive antibody article that supports the consortium and Odx efforts. I’m sure once created and validated the market will be there in many countries that are also still seeing increases, Brazil and the USA as very large examples. Russia, India, more to follow potentially this autumn and winter as we all huddle inside. I wonder if the change in U.K. weather will have any impact, social distancing has been more successful due to sunny weather, now that it’s gone mmmmm?
Its not just a test the consortium are working , its population surveillance and the information that gives you to relax individual control measues.
Not sure, surely 1st to market is what counts here?
Anybody aware of this? MEDsan have developed a test with 97% accuracy and has results in 10 minutes
