MIKODX - things will kick of at the end of July. Hundreds of thousands will be made redundant
Cooncan - . The Cons had no choice, don't make it sound like they've done us a favour. If they had locked down without furloughing staff, tens of thousands would have lost their jobs which would have been far worse for the economy. These people have paid millions in tax and bailed out the govt during the last crash in 2008. The least the govt can do is help them out during this pandemic, they are doing us no favours. But they can't pay wages forever which is part of the reason why they are easing lockdown now. I've lived under a Labour govt and a Cons govt. Labour govts have always been accused of over spending, while Cons are accused of under spending. Neither have the ability to find the right balance. But I dont want to get bogged down in the politics, I'm really here to discuss shares. Hopefully ODX will get this rapid test approved, but as each day passes with no RNA, you have to question can our scientists really be the first in the world to make a reliable rapid covid 19 home test kit? It's not easy, but we hope so.
Manage the virus. Lol
Ruislip lido and the parks in London yesterday were packed like Bondi beach The only thing I am sure of right now is that people are happy to gamble with their lives. This Covid thing will hit hard.
For the record, their cause is FAR more worthy than Cumming's stint in his car. Now let's be quiet please, this place was staying relatively on track but now it's a mess of farts again.
My mistake I meant Boris was watching Sweden, not Switzerland. I always get those two mixed up. Slap on the wrist for Mik.
I'd suggest in the absence of a vaccine they are going for herd immunity but rather than in one hit, they are phasing it over time. I wouldnt be surprised to see restrictions lifted and reinstated over the next 6 months. We only know about the official figures and not those that have had it and self isolated. The only real way we'll know if the approach has worked and the real number that have had it is through antibody testing.
@Jollifant. I don't need to read The Mirror when (unts like you make incredilous posts.
Another one to filter
Mikodx, the government can’t simply “ go for herd immunity”.
For diseases, herd immunity can go into effect when 40 percent of the people in a population become immune to the disease, such as through vaccination. But in most cases, 80 to 95 percent of the population must be immune to the disease to stop its spread.
So it’s not a feasible consideration at the moment.
However, until then we it’s great to know we have an accurate antibody test - step in ODX.
Woodstock
At least he shielded the scientists in his last briefing from the press hounddogs.
Maybe you took too much LSD at Woodstock.
If you stopped getting your 'news' from the Daily Mirror and the Biased Broadcasting Corporation then you might regain some self respect.
Then the big test is this winter alongside normal flu. These next few months will be all over the place with test and trace the option to kept everything going but manage the virus
Mikodx. I agree to disagree. The other evening on this board, there was a lot of chat about how helpful these tests would be at airports.
Contagion of this virus is as high as it was 3 months ago. Nothing has changed. The scientists were not happy about herd immunity 3 months ago. The scientists remain extremely worried.
Going on the stupidity of people going to the sea side and protesters in London ect ect, Imop we got a second wave coming this summer.
I have really lost respect for Boris Johnson over the Cumming incident.
Testing is definitely required, but don't be surprised if this govt is going for herd immunity. It certainly looks that way. I remember a time Boris was asked why he is not learning from countries with low infections and death rates. He answered that he was learning from other countries, and he went on to mention Switzerland. That said it all for me. I believe they are going down this route, but wont say so clearly, for fear of scaring the masses. A very dangerous route, but if it works I'm all for it.
Was tempted to sell last week and today, and make a tidy profit. But i'll hold a little while longer. But have to admit, I'm not feeling confident with this Conservative government. Because the number of people infected is so low they might just keep what they've got (that is ROCHE antibodies testing and the track and trace) and not bother to spend anymore on mass testing. The Cons will do anything to save money. Hope I'm wrong. However this stock should be strong enough to hit the £1.50's at the very least. Holding for now.
