For example, the North West and Liverpool has been an infection hotspot. Medics and scientists think this could go back to the visit of thousands of athletico Madrid fans who visited Liverpool for the game just before lockdown. Testing fans at that game for antibodies and comparing to the wider gen pop statistics will tell scientists how much more risk was involved in attending that game and how much contagion resulted.
It’s incredibly useful from a research and statistics point of view as well as tracking immunity. It will all be tracked and we’ll all be logged. It will be huge. No doubt about it.
i dont have a problem if we are waiting for top end product...we need to be part of this now though and newsflow needs to start coming. 1st June, 1st week, 2nd week i'm not fussed but i would like to start seeing the omega named banded around?
Others agree?
its like watching paint dry.........
Ha Maybe, just think those pinning hopes on 1st June for release of Antibody tests are wrong, many companies have rushed out Antibody tests of which are rubbish as reported on CNN last night, we are taking out time to do it properly which gets the thumbs up from me
The track and trace program is to track and trace the whole pandemic, it’s depth of infection, spread, current infection control, tracking past infection and assessing immunity. The track and trace program will track all aspects and include both antigen testing to control the increase of infection spread by reducing “R” and antibody testing to assess ongoing immunity and get people back to work and assess how much immunity or resistance is currently in any community that suffers an outbreak.
Look at the big picture. It’s a track and trace of the entire pandemic and it’s depth and antibody testing will play as crucial a part in that as any other component.
yes, the app will evolve to add all sorts of results - it will be important to know you are in the company of people with antibodies just as it will to know people have been symptomatic.
I think todays update will give some more detail on the testing strategy and the path forward...it won't be about cummings thats for sure.
Double up you are double wrong imo
Test track and trace will have an add on to log test results. I am not sure if this will be from day 1 but it will come.
Oxford are not the lead on this, Abingdon Health are the lead with input from other members.
Also you guys chasing ODX for design freeze are wrong, Oxford uni and doing design freeze and the other companies including ODX are doing production, manufacturing and distribution, hence why ODX and the other consortium are awaiting on Oxford for design freeze to get going.
The track and trace atm isn't about antibody tests its for people to log their symptoms via an antigen test, you guys are on the wrong track with this
Anyone watching BBC breakfast. Jennrick asked about track and trace...he said it’s ready and didn’t want to preempt what would be said later today.
The wait will be worth it.. Professor John Newton has mentioned these test are worth waiting for
News well overdue here now.
