I guess it depends on the data set that was submitted to the MHRA. Specificity of 98.03% is just over the threshold which is why I believe they reported this percentage at 2 decimal places (to demonstrate it is above even if just by a little) Looking at MHRA submission reports from other companies, it looked like the MHRA may have done their own validation tests. Some manufacturers reported 100% sensitivity but the MHRA found it was 85% for example. Depends on how strict the MHRA are on their criteria and if it's just as simple as a rejection if it does not meet their threshold. In response to someone elses comment, I doubt the MHRA would delay results just because of this value.
Tco,
Share buyers also have that in their article about it being 98%, however this isn’t the only validation that’s been done on the test. Abi have it in their white paper they tested to over 98%. So it’s slightly subjective. 0.4% out to make it over 98% from Ulster.
Where is a scientist when you need one.

Interesting read. A quote from the article: "The UK-RTC AbC-19 lateral flow immunoassay using shows a sensitivity of 97.70% (95.72%-99.34%) and specificity of 100% (100.00-100.00%)."
If I remember correctly for MHRA approval, you need a sensitivity of at least 98%.
Typical. Logged off at 2ish because of Sneller theories & low volume, then this happens. Congratulations & many thanks to everyone who has done the research over the last few months. It really does look like we are in the territory of dotting the eyes & crossing the tee's.
Here is the key...
We propose an alternative to RT-PCR positive status as a standard for assessing SARS-CoV-2 antibody assays and show strong performance metrics for the AbC-19 rapid test.
