Morning all - hope everyone is well? Just thought id add a couple of things -
1. Now - this has turned into a discussion - as opposed to a comment
2. I dont thin k anything im reading says anyone wants a 2nd wave/spike. But i think the general consensus is it is looking inevitable and that can only be positive for companies like this - surely its good to find a negative in a positive.
3. I really don't see a second wave being managed in the same way as the first. It would be very different - the first we were most definitely not prepared in any way and certainly not the NHS or Testing. Both are much more in a position to cope (We hope) and especially testing and diagnostics - so the effect on the majority of the economy would be different this time round. I see testing (both Antibod and Antigen) being centre to this plus smaller lock downs if needed - quarantine only of those sick or at high risk.
4. Woodstock - my UK friend also lives in California and is/was in the process of selling up to come home and we had fishing trips arranged (now cancelled) - hoping we can progress that soon. We have another booked for start of September
There are quite a few people on all the diagnostic test/vaccine development board that seem to be licking their lips and rubbing their hands that every spike/outbreak because they can see their investment/gamble increase. What they should rralise is that if this virus keeps hitting us without a vaccine(not a certainty) there will be no safe haven i.e corona shares. The whole market will collapse and everybody will be screwed. My portfolio is heavily weighted to corona type stocks, but I think if this situation goes on too long it will be disaterous.
Overtaken Russia ffs
Off topic. I asked my partner if she wanted to stay in California or stay in England before coronavirus took over. Its safer in England. She was right to a degree.
To be honest when I saw what was happening in China last January, I didn't expect a pandemic and the World going into lockdown.
India has now overtaken over Russia with coronavirus cases.
Good week ahead all.
Neither did I and I live in California and UK.
Hi again thanks for the replies there’s nothing that I disagree with there. I am invested here for one reason I think the share price will go up and I will make money. There is no doubt that some of you guys are experts and Covid is real and I wish you all well. Given the choice I would rather lose money and it just went away but sadly this virus is here to stay. GLA.
enteleon, “deeply unintelligent” is apt.
Does make you feel a bit grubby when you see folk ramping a stock gleefully about a second wave... I have to square with that as I'm invested in here and GDR. So in the interest of balance I've found a good news story, go Sunderland!!
https://www.sunderlandecho.com/health/coronavirus/no-new-covid-19-cases-sunderland-citys-hospital-trust-goes-two-weeks-no-virus-related-deaths-2498170
Entelion. . WHO aren't looking particularly optimistic about coronavirus, suggesting the worst is yet to come.
My neighbour is a hospital consultant and he is pretty much saying what you have said. Interestingly he had to wait 10 days for coronavirus test results.
Some of us were on Ncyt late last January and could see the mayhem coming out of China. The Princess Diamond cruise ship coronavirus cases seem like a distant memory.
Point being it pays to keep scanning the news and medical data as is gives us a significant advantage on investment decisions.
It's a pity of governments aren't as switched on as some of us investors. Or perhaps the plan was to allow the pandemic to happen. Who knows.
RoxburyHouse: A few calm thoughts:
1) From a European perspective, known spikes in new cases in Leicester, UK, and Catalonia, Spain.
2) From a global perspective, known spikes in new cases in all of: Florida, Texas, California, USA; Brazil; India; Mexico; Peru; Chile; South Africa.
3) From a genetic perspective, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is known to have mutated at least once (D614G mutation) wherein the mutated virus has more spikes and these spikes are more rigid which makes the virus more efficient at invading the host-cell.
4) From the historical perspective, the 1918/19 Pandemic (caused by an H1N1 virus) had three waves: a) March to August 1918. b) September to December 1918. c) January to March 1919. The second of these was by far the most destructive and included a drastic worsening of the symptoms. The new symptoms included very rapid respiratory collapse and haemorrhage. Migration/demob towards the end of the War considered a major factor.
Personal opinion is that it would seem deeply unintelligent to be complacent. This is a disease we still know very little about. The scientific community is doing its utmost to understand more and, for that, scientists will require high-grade data gathered from large populations and preferably with repeat testing.

“ I have a conflict of interests insofar as I do hold these shares but everyone and I mean everyone that I know is chilled about Covid at the moment which is completely different than say 5/6 weeks ago?”
Well, I’m relieved to hear that. I thought there were more than 11 million cases worldwide and shows no sign of slowing down.
Let’s all go to the pub and celebrate!
Roxbury. Not all of us want a second wave. As conveyed throughout the day, I am deeply concerned for the social and economic fall out.
Posters on all boards offer different view points and share their own education and knowledge on a particular subject .
You would be amazed at the different backgrounds and careers posters have on these boards.
Atb
Chuggly it’s a discussion board and I’m having a discussion!
My point is that very few of us (including me) have a clue and I find that funny.
If you take time out and look at my posts you will see that I encourage everyone to have their say.
No agenda and if you had any knowledge how this all works you would know that nothing anybody says here actually affects the share price.
My point is everybody shouting about second waves IMO is ridiculous! Note IMO.
I think ODX is a good Company and has got legs otherwise I wouldn’t be invested.
What’s your background for example? Scientist? Chemist?
I dont see many claiming to be experts - just doing some research and sharing with others who have an interest - and of course the interest is to promote their shares and the company they are invested in - makes total sense
Im sure thats the same reason for anyone on any bored - with the exception of professional or paid rampers or de rampers - but we can all see through their veil
And i see from your post history you are an "Expert" on Aston Martin. Go figure
So your point is? And your Agenda?
So funny this board you have to laugh!
Same as the AVCT board everyone is an expert on Covid Testing?
Go to the GGP board and they are all experts on Gold Mining.
I spend most of my time on the AML board and we are all experts on Engines and F1.
I am invested here and I selected the option to buy all of my 5033 shares but thought it was an option on ii so changed the 0 to a 1 and yes you got it ended up being allocated 1 share ffs! Ha ha
What does concern me here is how excited everyone gets about additional Covid outbreaks and reports of “Second Waves” purely driven by the desire to make money?
I have a conflict of interests insofar as I do hold these shares but everyone and I mean everyone that I know is chilled about Covid at the moment which is completely different than say 5/6 weeks ago?
