2 world leading experts and they are asking questions sent in like "should we wear a mask". The general public are thick and the BBC should not ask stupid questions for balance.
Let's see if your question is raised. It's on now.
My feeling is the same and hope its right - this is tired to track and trace app and or the announcements from Boris tomorrow. Still not convinced home testing is an issue currently - they want control. But i really hope we all know for sure soon and our patience is rewarded.
The Mologic Antigen test results must be close too and i imagine this would be pushed through in a major way by the gov if it looks positive
"My understanding is that whilst the Government are in disarray including the recently disbanded PHE then MHRA approval will be sufficient to allow (outside of anything agreed with the Government) private sale of our test."
The test is CE marked. Therefore, it can be sold for professional use now. The consortium is already taking pre-orders for professional use.
Self-test use requires MHRA approval. This was not part of the original brief but was asked for by DHSC part way through development. This required the additional user testing undertaken at U of U.
The issue appears to be getting the DHSC to commit to a level that will confirm what spare capacity the consortium will have to sell direct to third parties for professional use, to third parties overseas and potentially direct to the public.
I would anticipate this is all tied in with the launch of the Track & Trace app later this week.
I more or less sent the same email to the BBC. I also have written to MHRA asking why they are dragging their feet?
JAdam - done - there is a big character count limit on twitter so had to cut it down - hope the below is OK
Regulator - hopefully they will still respond - the issue is the same
#bbcyourquestions - The UK-RTC has proven to have developed fastest, gold standard most accurate test in the world. The UK-RTC has conducted more testing, verification and usability studies on its test than any other company to prove its efficacy. - Why is MHRA dragging it's fee
"The UK-RTC has been proven to have developed the fastest, gold standard most accurate test in the world thus far. The UK-RTC has conducted more testing, verification and public usability studies on its test than any other company to prove its efficacy. - Why then is the MHRA dragging it's feet signing off on it approval for home use, is the MHRA not fit for purpose?"
This is nothing to do with MHRA. This is DHSC delaying things.
