This thread has just reminded me to filter cooncan. The guy is a racist as well as talking BS probably with some agenda or other..
Cooncan,
Do u not get it, no one knows how long immunity lasts as virusonly been in Europe 4 months. Retesting of antibody could be needed every few months till we know . It may be everyone needs a test to decide who gets a vaccine first. There are likely to be a billion tests needed
They don't know how long the covid19 antibodies last, or if they protect you against catching it again. They suspect it does offer some protection but again they are not sure for how long.. a reliable POC antibody test to plug into the track and trace data will really help answer these questions..
No the antibody market is 100% of the population several times over.
My guess there will be 10 x as many antibody tests taken as antigen tests.
So far UK have tested 4.5m people. They were talking of ordering 50m POC antibody tests for starters.
Antibody tests would be taken by the majority of people if offered one today if only out of curiosity if nothing else. Most people wouldn't have bothered getting a swab test and at the peak of the outbreak swab tests were only available to select groups meaning the carriers from the peak will show up in antibody testing. We have spare capacity going unused every day, the desire to get tested and the need to get tested isn't as high as our capacity. R is reducing, and the testing window for antigen testing is so small, 3-5 days for ideal detection accuracy, whereas the testing period for antibodies is from now into perpetuity. The areas where there will be regular testing is not that big a market. Antibody tests will be repeated whether negative (continued testing in case infected) or positive (monitor progression and length of antibodies).
This is by far the biggest opportunity in the Covid testing space, because it will be a gold standard test with no other relevant competition IMO
cooncan, how will you test all those that have had the virus and do not know they have had it (asymptomatic) or all those who have had the virus but have never been tested? How do you test the changing levels of antibody in your system over a period of time? These tests are complimentary to each other, both are needed and one does not replace the other. If you did more proper research this may become clearer to you.
cooncan, looks like you have opened a short here. You are here in the BB all the time criticising anyone talking positive about ODX and antibody testing.
Just do a google search about antibody testing. Even in US, in a large scale, hospitals are doing antibody testing. In 4 months time when flu season starts, it will be manic and without a proper testing kit, NHS will overburden and a lockdown will be announced again. To avoid all this, both antigen and antibody testing kits are desperately needed. Home based antibody tests are needed for every individual for rest of the life. Even if a vaccine is produced, ppl would still like to get tested.
The LAMP test will only be able to tell you if you still have the virus as it amplifies virus RNA. If you have cleared it you still have antibodies which is why both tests are needed.
Historically LAMP requires a lot of RNA so I'm intrigues to see whether they get got sensitivity with low concentration samples. Not as intrigued as seeing RTC performance data however
