Agreed that it is a lab test and scalability is challenging but just wanted to highlight that a mom and pop operator can get a product up and running quickly, so the likes of the global pharma groups with almost unlimited resource will have a solution and at scale soon... therefore we need to get a wriggle on!

"I have a client, https://covid19biocard.co.uk/, which is a pretty small diagnostic outfit which has created an antibody test. 100% sensitivity, 99.4% spec. Started from scratch recently. They have CE/MHRA approval and just getting FDA approval. It's finger prick at home... lab result. Selling at £99 or at a discounted £30 quid if you have the code.
Nothing particularly special about them, but highlights that if ODX wait much longer they are going to be overtaken. I'm still confident on ODX but they need to get moving ASAP or miss the train leaving the station."
Not just about the test design, it is also about the ability to manufacture millions of trests with consistent quality, and at a reasonable price.
Add in the hoops that have to be jumped through, then you see ODX are still in a pretty good place, biggest worry is if this corrupt govenment are hoping to get kickbacks from friends who might be suitable for a contract, whether they are the best choice or not.
Aberdeenman
It’s lab based. Odx already market the Elisa antibody test, fully approved, on sale with similar high numbers.
It’s not about lab based, everyone is covering that off, it’s about poc, at home tests
100% sensitivity? No false negatives at all? Would be interesting to see what the sample size was.
Point taken PawnKing, however test you have just mentioned is no competition for ODX based the result being lab based and the test being expensive. Comparing it to ODX is like comparing Chelsea to Liverpool today.

I see a slow drop until MHRA approval but as soon as that drops then constant gains to 250-300.
I like the security of the HIV test which I'm afraid will be around for years.
