Hi Piper, I am not aware of any links between ODX and DLAR. I suspect it’s not ODX but perhaps Mologics POC Test.
My reasoning is the emphasis on the article in question on overseas/global sales. For now, ODX’s initial capacity will be consumed by UK (government) orders. This has been confirmed by CK so I am thinking no link.
If It's of political interest to time the release, then the next easing of lockdown is 15th June, where non essential retail opens. It would be helpful for the growth of the economy if the public were able to take the antibody test by then, allowing them to go out in public with confidence if tested positive as being potentially immune from re-infection.
Dibs; Do Omega have any existing links with De la Rue plc #DLAR. ?
It would be good to know who did Omega use to add the Authenticator packaging, stickers labels etc to their visitect cd4 product to authenticate it.
If it was de la rue we could be game on for immunity certificates
See DLAR RNS today that sent them up 200%
Client with a digital solution for an immunity certificate
I don’t think it’s taking time. If you read the government guideline they state it will take 3 months. The consortium was formed in the first week of April, so unless someone knows differently and has heard something to the contrary then we’re on track. PI’s (incl myself) get impatient, some people expect an RNS every morning, business doesn’t work like that. Let the guys get on with it and we’ll be updated in due course.
TRACK and Trace, been to the beach all day,my missus received a text to say she has been in contact with someone with Covid, ;Could all the people who have been in contact with my missus please contact Matt from the government xx
MB - that would be my understanding too from the development cycle employed by ODX with their Visitect CD4 Test. In other words that once design freeze is achieved the product is then evaluated in trials. This suggests to me that since tests are being evaluated (according to Newton) that design freeze milestone is already passed.
Well its not really a delay as they have always said June.
But it seems to me there are 2 things to be established.
1) The app - CK mentioned developing an app, the NHS app is delayed because it seems to be it was useless. Abingdon and BBI have both moved on from talking about lateral flow tests to talking about apps and data. Look at test and trace and how this can take it to the world leading solution BJ talked about.
2) The "so what". What does a positive antibody test mean for certification, safety freedom of movement etc. They will not want the masses getting tests and demanding special treatment because of immunity. The easing of lockdown restrictions make this much more straightforward now because the will no longer give such special privileges to those with immunity if most of the country is back up and running.
This is why i think they are taking their time. All the clues suggests the development stage is successful. It's of political interest to time the release of these tests appropriate.
The national study on antibody tests phase one is complete. Plan is to expand this further and test regularly for 12 months. So all the timing critical pieces of the science, up-scaling of manufacturing capacity, easing of lockdown restrictions etc are all coming to a bottleneck, and that will be the perfect time to release the antibody tests IMO.

That was a buy i think
Reason for delay - imop, i think they may have added (may be gov) new features to the original specification and they may have asked for extensive validation. As we all know, a lot of companies who tried producing this test kit failed. Meaning this is not an easy test and when completed, it wont have competition out there with regards quality.
China tried and failed. The millions of test kits bought from China are worth nothing. The UK gov took the blame for buying from China but they're not looking to be disgraced again. They want to make sure this is validated, again and again which is why its taken longer.
This product will be the best out there and not only in the UK, it will help millions overseas. With a few manufacturers working together, the numbers are going to be incredible.
Bit disappointed there was nothing in the briefing tonight. Probably a retrace on the cards tomorrow. Still a strong hold from me though. This has got legs
Still high rate of infections. 8000 a day at the moment. And sadly todays fatality rate is still 3 times higher before lock down.
To be fair I have wondered if the design freeze has already happened. The interview on Sky gave more ammunition to that belief. The torpedo RNS did say they were going to produce which which was more positive than we expected - I am a little wary of the govt's involvement though. They seem to drop projects and change tack very quickly. I am getting quite impatient for a proper RNS update to be honest. GLA.
I'm with you PDMS - it is highly likely that these announcements will all come at once given the unique circumstances here.
John newton said that these test are undergoing evaluation, he didn't say they are still in development. Design freeze is supposed to be achieved before evaluation.
Of course it is design freeze is when the partners agree on a final design. One could just not agree until they want to agree or until the timing suits them to agree. They could spend a week debating a very minor point because they want to delay design freeze and then when it suits them, low and behold we have design freeze.
I completely agree that design freeze is subjective, that’s a great comment. I’m sure they achieved the necessary requirements In the past few weeks but I think they will be wanting to get this right first time and as much as their bullish, if they can get an additional few percentage points on accuracy and sensitivity then it’s worth waiting. This test needs to better than everything else out there, otherwise it will fall at the first hurdle.
Too right Kenz... and so you should
Merch - design freeze is not subective haha eh??what a load of tosh. Design freeze is exactly what it says on the tin.
PDMSP - im not arguing with you all mighty one, you obviously know your opinion is fact, i bow to your clear superiority
Colin could not have stated what he did in that Sky News interview and and subsequent RNS and say definitively with conviction that the tests will be manufactured and will be superior to the Roche tests if design freeze had not already been achieved.
He’s not going to go on sky news confirming they’ll be manufacturing the tests if he isn’t 100% certain that is the case.
He could only say that without risking having egg on his face after design freeze.
Simple as that. It’s not hard to work out really is it.
Last week was £300 million profit; at the weekend was £90 million ,Please tell me you didn't Trade your 38 pence shares @80/90 pence! ! Like my missus says,Don't kid a kidder,REAT and the mice have out performed ODX (I know it's hard to admit) How's Spain, and the North of England? Lol xx
Design freeze is subjective..... when is design freeze, the moment they achieve a product that is 100% accurate? the moment they have a final design? or the moment they all nod their heads and say government are ready now we can sign off on it.
Fact is they can unofficially agree amongst themselves design freeze is achieved, but we wont sign off on it yet until the Gov say we can. We might just pretend we are still tweaking something.....
It is clear they have been given a date by when they must be in a position to have the test complete, tested, approved, manufactured and available. There is no margin for error here.
PDMSPiper - haha listen to you, one would think u are BJ's right hand man..... such conviction, clearly what you state is exactly it.
That’s it exactly Merch.
Gov are controlling news flow. They don’t want people getting ahead of themselves and they don’t want the press hounding them asking:
“when will these antibody tests that they finished designing 3 weeks ago?”
To that end the news flow is being kept confidential until they in production and the gov have a date they can confidently announce to the press and public that the tests will be available for purchase.
Because of that gov requirement for confidentiality the company will have been prevented from issuing a design freeze RNS even though they said they would. That’s irrelevant. Gov will decide when we’re told and the RNS will be multi fold, bar achieved, test assessed, passed and approved, under manufacture, gov have ordered 50 mill etc.
We’ll be told all once and the FOMO buy in will be massive. Wait and see.
Apologies, that should say expecting rather than hoping :-)
I’m not sure they have achieved design freeze, they have quite categorically said that as soon as they achieve this they will announce it to the market. They are preparing for manufacturing, hoping that the two dovetail, I believe they are doing final tweaks and tests before signing off on the final design, again IMO.
