Squadra - anitigen test are all swab, testing bodily fluids. Viruses are spread in bodily fluids, enter through nose or mouth, with bodily fluids transporting it down your throat and into the lungs. Antigens are found in saliva not blood.
Wrong info squadrazzurra. Affimers can be more articulate than that.
So far antigen tests (involving blood) are all lab based tests. In fact I cannot see why ODX wouldn't combine the two in one POC test provided it cooperates with others involved in antigen testing. If not possible with one kit they can design a second test kit for antigen POC testing. At the end of the day ODX is a pure diagnostic test company.
Antigen POC test is not finger prick it's saliva.
The finger prick test will also be used in antigen test. The finger prick antibodies and antigen tests will be the mother of all tests. It can be used at airports, pubs, bars, theaters etc if need be. It's small, cheap, convenient, and gives instant results within ten minutes. The world badly needs an accurate finger prick test. Best of luck to the consortium.
I would add that ODX is developing a POC ANTIBODY test (to check is someone HAD the virus and thus naturally immunised) while Avacta an antigen test (tells you if someone HAS the virus) . ODX test helps during de-confinement (when the rate of infection is dropping to allow the return to work/travel) while Avacta test helps in the confinement period (when the rate of infection is rising). However, ODX test will remain for a longer period because it is the only tool available to allow people to work. For example, a person with antibodies will not contaminate others while a person tested negative, virus free can be contaminated the next minute if he/she is in contact with an infected person. IMO antibody testing will be more valuable and will become a routine in every country. Antigen testing will continue in a supportive role to antibody testing. For example, if a person is tested negative for antibodies, THEN that person must be antigen tested to check if she has the virus or not.
Roughly, Avacta develops diagnostic reagents for COVID-19 ANTIGEN testing. It partners with others to develop and offer a saliva based swab test. So far I haven't seen any approval or any result about accuracy and sensitivity of this test on a large human sample. ODX is technically gathering and adapting biological & statistical inputs from partners into the design and freeze of a POC test. The UK-RTC comprises the University of Oxford, Abingdon Health Limited, BBI Solutions Limited and CIGA Healthcare Limited, all working in conjunction with ODX. This is supported by the government under the "Memorandum of Understanding - COVID-19 Consortium" scheme.
Could the MM play games and advance Avacta share price to tempt investors to sell here before a big rise?
Heres hoping news is not far off.
Boris needs a diversion!!!
Stocktaker01 ....
ODX are working on PoC antibody test.
AVCT are working on 2 antigen tests (a PoC test and a mass spectrometer test) , as well as a potential therapeutic.
Antigen test used to determine if you have the virus, antibody test to determine if you have had the virus.
Both tests are important depending on where you are in the covid cycle. Start, lockdown, ...2nd wave, herd immunity....
Test, test, test
Both are working on LFD and other projects.
ODX will tell you have I had Covid?
AVCT have I got Covid?
ODX also have a manufacturing agreement with Molotic and ar part of the governments response consortium. They also have LFD for HIV.
AVCT have a fast throughput mass spectrometry test for hospitals, a potential therapeutic for covid, cancer therapeutics, the Direct to consumer deal with medusa 19.
Lots up upside for both BUT equally both are pending confirmation of success re tests and regulatory approval.
I hold both.
ODX are working on a point of contact (POC) antibody test to see if you have had the virus (and thereby may have some immunity)
AVACTA are working on a lab based (BAMS) and POC antigen test to see if you have the virus (and therefore should self isolate etc..) amongst a 100 other things
odx is a antibody test avacta is a antigen test
Can someone highlight the difference between what ODX are working on and that which AVCT claim to have?
thanks
