For any of you that care I have grilled the mrs and done some digging in regards to what has been said. I believe they were talking About the Chinese tests. From what we’ve discussed and from what I have read that’s put my mind at rest again, so it’s still just a case of waiting for design freeze and the mega day that RNS will bring
Re the email signed off by Paul. Rightly or wrongly I sent an email to the company last week having a go at them regarding the Rns they posted late on the subject of not knowing any reason for the sudden rise in sp etc. I received a reply within 30 minutes from Wallbrook PR on behalf of Omega. That too was signed off by someone named Paul. So I would have no reason to doubt DannyDigits email. I do have the surname also which was in the email title, but not sure whether I am allowed to post it on here.
Lab based test kit will be over £100 with associated reagents. then you got to factor in the Roche analysers (Cobas) and the cost of the staff performing the test. The POC will be around £10.
What’s the cost of lab against POC also, more than double I think at least
@piper, my rough estimates is each Roche lab test can test 29 patients testing in triplicate (Look up ELISA test 96 well plate). If they have the capacity to do 40,000 a day and are meeting this, then the order of 10 million will only last about 36 weeks and 292 million people tested at least once . Obviously many people will be tested for Covid antibodies several times and many more tests will be needed especially during the winter as patients may have the common cold/flu symptoms which may actually be Covid. Bottom line is the labs can't cope with mass testing so a finger prick test will be needed.
Danny Diggits - up to your eyeballs, but the first time you post on here was regarding the Speeding ticket, the second time is about a story from "friends" at the NHS.
I am not interested in whether an email is genuine or not, but i'll assume it is. The contents of the email is consistent with the narrative that we already have been told. Nothing in there surprising or of concern because we know if it said anything different we would be £1.30 plus by now.
But i do suggest the story is being used to lead a conclusion from that email response. But there are some obvious floors in the story.
A simple understanding of how lab tests and lateral flow tests work will help
Thanks merchant. Good informative post
At their rate of 40,000 tests a day it would take them 3-1/2 years to test 50 million people using the roche lab tests.
My email that says that they are not passed this stage maybe?!
Han**** basically said they are testing 40,000 a day currently because that’s the max that can be done because of the time it takes to draw blood. At that rate it will take 250 days or 8 months to use up the 10 million lab tests they’ve bought.
And that’s only 1/5 of the population.
I am sure NHS staff have a lot more to worry about thangossip about antibody tests, or is it swabbing. I am also sure the RTC would not roll these out for NHS staff to validate, after some of the greatest expert minds have been evaluating them themselves.
The test stage of the finger prick tests will only be to test ease of use, not to test the quality or accuracy of the tests, this will be done before.
Finally a finger prick blood sample is more than enough to detect antibodies. The presence of antibodies is due to the time after infection and the body's response to it, and not due to the quantity of blood. The accuracy of these tests is to do with the antigen used to identify the virus and identify specifically Sarvs Covid 2. Quantity of blood is not not a restricting factor. There are many existing tests out there for other medical reasons that use a finger prick blood sample and you need about 1/8th of a teaspoon for them to be effective.
I received an email today from the nhs (as a nhs employee) we are entitled to an antibody test and they are rolling out across the country once labs are sorted...would have loved to receive an omega home test instead!
Elon I applaud you for being a terrible linguist, the email is genuine. If there’s any way to post it or forward it on I will happily do so. The reason it was signed off just a Paul is that’s all I copied and pasted as the rest was a signature
Exactly; and a RNS! !
I just like a bit more balance Elon, with you and PDMs if it's not a ramp it's not a honest post... if the test was ready there would be a design freeze, sooner the better as far as I'm concerned..
Sold out and can't buy back in Why? Could have sold out yesterday and re purchased today cheaper! !
Why? What bit don't you like SensibleGuy? It's not hit design freeze so it's probably not ready yet.....
We know design freeze hasn't been achieved; because if it had;the Government would shout it from the rooftops; and ODX would release an RNS!!
True Rodders. Both his posts are total bu77sheet.
He should be reported to ODX and the police for the criminal act of impersonation and deception
Pretty much sums up where I think they are.... Like I said it's not easy or everyone would be making them...
@KP4Ever - Sound like the they are participating in the REACT-2 Study

Just following on from this. Before I start I am up to my eyeballs in ODX so wouldn’t dream of a de-ramp, I have a personal target of £1.80. But my mrs returned home from working all day fitting PPE Masks for front line staff. She has a few friends who work in the NHS and who have been doing swabbing. Her first words coming through the door was I have some bad news. She said the finger prick tests that they have been using aren’t good enough and there’s not enough antibodies to get an accurate test from a pin prick blood sample. Now firstly are there any other finger prick tests that we know of? Or are the RTC the only ones working on them?
I haven’t grilled her probably yet cause I was leaving as she was coming so I will be when I get home. Just worried me a touch
Read and understood KP4. Important information. Cheers.
Just wanted to finish off this thread (but not sure if anyone will read it but here goes) as the Mrs has returned from work (NHH) and I've grilled her. What is happening is selected NHS staff (ie ITU and A&E staff and also ALL members of staff who have tested positive for Covid-19) are having both the 'blood draw test' and 'finger prick' antibody tests. They are then asked to fill in a questionnaire about ease of use of POC test. Clearly the testers are then comparing the blood draw test (which requires the Plebotomist, thank you Mr HanC****k) and the POC test for accuracy. She's back in at the end of the week and is going to poke around a bit more. Promising.... LTH DYOR
