Me to Alex looking fwd to next update. I hope we don't hear the usual World Cup has restricted sales because people stay indoors. I am thinking of topping up the issues that you mention I think are coincidental to the pullback thus will be short lived. Longer term Next are one of the survivors of the High Street.
World events are one factor, especially the trade issue with the US, not to ,mention Brexit issues and problems with Italy. More specifically we've seen some lacklustre updates from a variety of retailers ... so I'm not that surprised by the pull back in NXT SP. I think the next update is around early August, expect a further dip early July when the share goes ex dividend. I was surprised by how strong the last update was and I suspect that Next are emerging as one of the high street winners ... I look forward to the next update.
Does anyone have any explanation regarding today's drop? I don't see any relevant news apart from the usual high street bashing and profit warnings from minnows of the retail world
The problem for the ManWhoCan is that Next customers failed to take his advice and review random comments on Trustpilot before buying ... like he would? Retail is a cyclical business and during a down-cycle the weaker retailers go to the wall. The stronger suffer also but during these periods tighten up their act. When the cycle inevitably turns they perform strongly because they are operating tightly against less competition. I wouldn't be surprised to see store like for likes go positive in 2019.
He kept quoting Primart. Got a tad upset when I asked did he mean Primark. So he will be well upset today. Probably won't hear from him.
So much class !!!!! LOL
themanwhosa???? wont be happy but long as he can buy socks that light up for a quid at primark its ok
Next shares are up nearly 20 since last year , nice .
Doh!!! MANWHOCANONLYSEEONESIDE!!! Enjoy Spoons 7% again that's a few pints in there lol
Excellent news today. Any thoughts where we might top out?
Always nice to see a positive trading update first thing in a morning :)
Looks good - Erring on the side of caution as usual but increased profit guidance - Next is one of the survivors of the retail cull
Have always rated NXT as the exceptional clothing retailer, and still do and am now contemplating placing my faith in the business by investing in it. I have a target price of 60 to 72 (call it 66) as IMO it is currently under rated (PE 12) and it will beat earnings consensus, it always over delivers and is very conservative in its forecasts, in reality it also has no net debt as nextpay more than neutralises their debt. Now IMO, at the bottom (or near enough), of the retail cycle is the time to buy......hence Im very tempted, only concern is will the rerating happen soon enough and kicking myself not picking up some last month. Any views on future share price forecasts? DD
Would that be the same John Lewis whose profits fell 77% last year, and 22% after exceptionals? Thamks for making my point for me. Now, if John Lewis are doing so well with customers then why is that not reflected in their performance? Perhaps its because their is no correlation to an anecdotal website? Incidentally the same relatives who buy regularly from Next have had issues with John Lewis ... go figure.
Sorry Alex I understand perfectly that s#%t happens and I am sure so does everyone else We know that maybe when you are unloading a mattress it can get caught on the door on it’s way out Or when you are sitting in the back of the van eating your sandwiches you can accidentally knock your flask over ruining the sofa your sitting on We do understand My point is how it’s dealt with If you check the John Lewis rating there’s also shows up as poor because as I mentioned and accept people only normally moan when the have the hump but the big difference is the way they deal with them Every posting on the John Lewis they reply to the customer offering thanks or support and empathy depending what type of comment it is Next on the other hand nothing In fact the opposite in one case and I am sure there must be more they actually contacted Trust Pilot threatening action if they didn’t remove the post The customer fair play to them weren’t having none of it and sent Trust Pilot copies of correspondence between him and Next and after reviewing it they promptly reinstated the posting What a way to carry on You and obviously Next are to quick to dismiss and ignore these reviews as a bloody nuisance how dare they complain and plenty more where they come from and as a percentage it’s negligible But I need to warn you and them that the reviews system is a force that should not be ignored and those that do do so at there peril. Pioneered by Pierre Omidyar the founder of E Bay he realised that people where put off by the idea of buying blind The internet was still in its infancy and the idea of just parting with you money to an unknown seller not knowing if you would ever see your purchase or your money again was a problem So he came up with the idea of feedback where previous customers would review either good or bad which would give people the confidence or otherwise to purchase and it works Now I am joe public and I look at John Lewis and I see lots of negatives but I also see the John Lewis are engaging with the customer and sorting it out I the look at NEXT and I see a lot of negatives and nothing NEXT don’t seem to give a toss It’s not the one person who you have given poor service too it’s the 10 ( now I’m guessing like you) who don’t bother buying because of the reviews Anyway I let you go it is Sunday so you deserve your rest Lots of heavy lifting tomorrow for you I’m guessing PS sorry about the grammar I’m in Spoons at the moment Regards
The "manwhocan" can't seem to understand what he's being told? A company the size of Next has high transaction volumes and is therefore likely to receive more complaints than smaller retailers, but the number of complaints as a percentage of volume will be considerably lower. Next's systems and processes have been built up over decades and will be superior to most other retailers. The complaints that you refer to are simply normal for retail. Given the complexities of the business they are impossible to eliminate. They are not evidence of impending bankruptcy. As I have stated, you know very little about how a retail company works and your "evidence" is pitiful. But perhaps you and your mates in Wetherspoon's know better? Unlikely.
Ah so what you are telling us all that buying online and having it delivered is s%*t It’s just the depth that differs And it’s you opinion not based on any facts because you use phrases like probably and I believe So the whole theme of your post is it’s all s%^t but your believe in your opinion not because you have shares but you know about these things that NEXT is less sh*tty than the others Oh and in your opinion I obviously know nothing about retail it must be true because you believe it probably Don’t get a job in PR probably best you keep driving them vans
Think it’s probably an echo Bit like you get in empty buildings
I did actually Mr Smart Arse er Nah thanks for asking
Glad you got some profit. I'm going to keep sitting on this for a while as our shares are through staff discount, so can't loose. Looking good so far this month and in this climate, a very good annual report. Your right about the site, its dire.
Sorry it came up twice !!!!! This site is a disaster
