Nex holding up well, even the sp has got bored of omicron :-) Dow futures up so making back the drop from yesterday. Complete overreaction after first case confirmed in the US, we’re so globally connected it had to be there anyway.
Not looking good pre market

Same again! Big drop in the us indexes, Nikkei and ftse to follow tomorrow- of we go again on the daily yo-yo.
A weclomed rise today.
would like to think this is the bottom, providing there are no covid headwinds!
when covid is moved on from, thats when this will fly, along with every other transport share. i think march next year is when this will be pushing 330p again.
Ftse up, nex up today. Enjoy before the drop tomorrow but look forward to the rise the day after! Uncertainty in large amounts is very wearing.
Hopefully a better day today.
I think all charts are out the window now with this new strain of covid.

Hopefully sellers will read this too as well as all the "catastrophe continues! "stuff - https://www.cityam.com/covid-death-rate-not-rising-swap-travel-restrictions-and-mass-hysteria-for-cautious-optimism-as-omicron-mutation-is-super-mild-variant-who-and-coronavirus-experts-say/
Hmm… now, I’m sure that no CEO’s intentionally go public and drop the market for personal gain.. ;-)
We just need another ceo to big up their vaccine and back up everything goes.
Ftse futures currently sub 7000 so holding 216 out of the question. A bumpy ride ahead.
decided to pick up some stagecoach, hope all is good with you gents and merger announcement soon, GLA
Jtan, I can say with almost 100% that it will go above your avg mate :). I wouldn’t worry about that.
I’m just the impatient type haha
Haha yep.
Made some decent little trades on other stocks buying Friday selling today. But not topping up NEX yet. Wish it would just crash to 200p so I could buy a boatload.
With an avg of 240p not quite in top up territory - just lingering in this annoying range
Something that has surprised me recently is watching airline stocks outperform NEX on clear green days - I’m fascinated to be honest - as I must be missing something because to me something like NEX is a relatively safe bet.
CHR55 - love your advice. I added more based on your advice. The secret to getting rich is doing the opposite of what you say
Ftse and Dow futures showing a small bounce around 0.6% so maybe rationality has returned. Travel restrictions will still have an impact but not the drop that could have occurred. Maybe the positive reports coming out of Africa over the weekend about mild symptoms.
Dilema first thing tomorrow... no doubt a drop first thing due to an overall travel & leisure wacking but for me, im just gonna ride it out and hold. Don't blame the govt for being proactive but we are in a very different place now, and unless WFH comes in, im struggling to see how this is going to actually impact nex. Sentiment will drag us down though. Strap in for the start of this week all! C

"The first South African doctor to alert the authorities about patients with the omicron variant has told The Telegraph that the symptoms of the new variant are unusual but mild."
Has any variant been more evasive against the vaccine? Or our herd immunity for that matter. Boris can’t say this of course, all politicians have to play it safe. We just have to wait for the bottom or just after, lose a little upside instead of buying early and dealing with the extra risk.
Quite a fair response from Boris… travel, retail and leisure not being stopped. . Worst case scenario is that we’re still in a much better position than we was last year, we can improve the vaccine within a month or so, we all keep getting vaccinated and have to wear face masks for a little longer. Only wish they’d change the name of the virus to something less menacing…. Maybe ‘flower pot’ :-))
Novavax say they should have a vaccine ready for Omicron variant before Christmas…sky news
Omicron variant unlikely to lead to 'reboot of pandemic' – director of Oxford Vaccine Group
The director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, which developed the AstraZeneca vaccine, expressed cautious optimism that existing vaccines could be effective at preventing serious disease from the Omicron variant and said it is unlikely to result in a reboot of the pandemic.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Prof Sir Andrew Pollard said:
If you look at where most of the mutations are, they are similar to regions of the spike protein that have been seen with other variants so far and that tells you that despite mutations existing in other variants, the vaccines have continued to prevent very severe disease as we’ve moved through Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta.
At least from a speculative point of view we have some optimism that the vaccine should still work against this variant for severe disease but really we need to wait several weeks to have that confirmed.
