That's better.. a decent poster.
B.1.617 (Indian Variant) contains a double spike mutant:

Hence it’s picked up by SNPsig In fact both are

Morning larry,
https://www.primerdesign.co.uk/search
Found all the RUO (R00130/1/2/4/5/7/46/47) product numbers for all the SNPsig test kits.
Can't find a product number that is described as identifying the Indian variant.

Not sure if this has been posted. I think you’ll find sentiment will change when it becomes apparent that this isn’t over and is an endemic. The government are following the dates not the data and I’m pretty certain there’ll be some sort of local lockdowns if not a full lockdown by winter. Testing will be required for years as the LTH have stated for months, the technology of these tests may change but the requirement for them will remain.
B2HS2L, in the rns was written week of the 26th april, as you remembered us.
The rns was three days before. Wouldnt they be sure it was ready to tell us such things ?
As porky said, the two New tests Can find the Indian variant, even if not only (détecte California one too). For me those 2 tests are the one mentionned by the rns.
Porky, if we Can find if they use sequencing, then we Can be sure its not linked to us.
But if not, there is a good chance its our Indian variant ruo SNPsig test imo, as i can't find any other company have on specific.
Any Journals mebtionning sequencing or else for surge testing ?
I was disappointed that Primerdesign does not appear to have launched the SNPsig test to identify the India variant yet, (launch was expected week commencing 26 April 2021).
However:
https://twitter.com/NovacytGroup/status/1391405651474145287
"Did you know? The B.1.617 is known as a double mutant because it contains two spike mutants; the E484Q and L452R".

SNPsig® SARS-CoV-2 (E484K)

SNPsig® SARS-CoV-2 (L452R)

By performing both the above tests on a single Covid-19 positive sample, the India variant can be identified when the specified mutation is present in each test.
Long way of doing it, but AFAIK it would work.
Consulate karachi genesig ..........intresting labs ....

Evening , Porky I think that is exactly what is happening. You are correct It could be done in situ at the moment by Versalab, with numbers at this level. It would be quicker. It states in all write ups re surge testing PCR and off to lab. Upon arrival at lab they could use either Primer SNPsig or Thermo SNP for genotyping tests , then take those postives not identified and run through full sequencing . It would be a faster approach then waiting for full sequencing and speed is of the essence in making decisions regarding lockdowns etc. Whose test they are using is anyones guess.
The Versalab is brilliant in remote areas with no easy lab access. Very few companies globally can do this sort of testing ,so if not being utilised right now in UK I am 100% confident that it will be in all those countries which cannot run full sequencing - most of the ROW. Happy Saturday all K
@larry10
I can see exactly where you are going with this one
Was attempting to establish the full journey of the test from the Renault van.
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/surge-testing-to-be-deployed-in-bolton
Max Capacity 1,000 tests from the Renault Van. A high volume delivered as home test kits they go door to door with and simply just collect, register, the same sample then sent to the main lab.
At this stage the it appears that the test is NOT validated at the Van as a test could be if it was say a Versa Lab arrangement and donut used?
My best guess is that the labs have massive capacity to then process the samples this is why its done this way. We have the SNPsig to identify the Variant for sure as the RUO so it could be identified by us at the lab? Its possible but equally it could be identified by sequencing which is NOT us.
Appreciate this doesn't answer the issue but what happens exactly at the lab i just cant be sure of, none of us can, really could do with someone who actually works on processing the samples in the lab to fill us in.
So much secrecy surrounding the exact process. I will keep digging and see if I can reach out to anyone that might know.
Pork's
PS. Keep up the great Research work Larry, appreciated
Larry - RNS dated 23.04.2021 stated
"· Expansion of SNPsig® COVID-19 PCR genotyping portfolio to detect SARS-CoV-2 variants
o Development of test to detect a variant originally identified in India, launch expected week commencing 26 April 2021.
8th Assay to the portfolio."
A number of posters including myself checked whether this variant had been launched yet, but could not confirm.
I emailed the company on Friday to enquire on this matter, but have had no response.
Thanks B2HS2L, but out of your list, or other variant tests i have, none of them have a specific test for the Indian variant for now. Or do they ?
Im thinking specificly for the Indian variant test, because as there is siège testing for it in UK, if we dont find any other competitor having one, and if theyre not discovered through sequencing but with a SNPsig like test, then we could assume UKGov is using our ruo test to do do ... ?
larry10,
Competitor products for sequencing surveillance were posted on 13 May 2021 @ 17:16 by myself.
Hello to all, Hope you have a nice weekend.
I have a few questions about the Indian variant. Has anyone the answers ?
- how is the surge testing for it done in UK ?
So, what sort of testing, tests like SNPsig or through genomic sequencing ?
- has any other company a SNPsig like test for it ?
- Can we believe we are in any way used for surge testing in UK ? Any evidence to be sure ? Or wich companies then do it ?
Thanks
