from the Telegraph:
Denis Kinane said that he "welcomes" plans to simplify the travel restrictions, particularly the Government's system of traffic light destinations.
However, he warned that the decision to drop "gold-standard PCR tests" in favour of lateral flow tests "will be a calculated risk that could put Britain at risk of new Covid variants entering the country."
He added: "Currently, Cignpost's own data shows 4 in every 1,000 people are testing positive after they arrive in the UK, and every one of them had already supposedly recorded a negative lateral flow test while abroad.
"That is the equivalent of 400 people entering the UK with Covid every single day.
"Without PCR testing, we are in danger of reducing our ability to sequence positive tests for variants of concern, making us blind to new threats or changes in the virus."
I agree CRL. From the start of the pandemic our useless and negligent cabinet of miscreants and liar MP's are not at all interested in eradicating or reducing covid deaths as long as it kills off the elderly and/or infirm. This is how BungleBoris is going to solve the care home and health and pensions shortfall. Bungle is no better than other mass-murdering dictators and leaders from tin pot countries.
from the Telegraph:
This comes amid a warning from a genomics expert that relaxing the travel rules "doesn’t sit with the rest of how we implement Covid control measures in the country".
Alan McNally, professor of genomics at the University of Birmingham, warned that "we really don’t have any policies in place now in the United Kingdom to sufficiently prevent Covid transmission."
He said it is "vitally important that we do genome-level surveillance on travel Covid cases" and that we can end up in "big trouble" for not monitoring travel-related cases
It may just be a voting thank you and goodbye job on 29th Sep at AGM/EGM. But I would like to think that the company would be kind enough to consider the man/woman in the street ( p/i’s) with some sort of salesman update.
Their PR has been utterly negligent to the point of vacant. Do they want the price this low? Recent RNS was more positive re. NHS contracts and new products /planned product LFT. However the market is not impressed.
The govt. is also palpably negligent and have been from the beginning. Vaccines were only good move. I speak to the US where they still have almost full restrictions but lower vaccine uptake. They won’t let pupils or students into college or school unless vaccinated( single vaccine dose..not AZ) . Here the kids have nil restrictions and no vaccine. I have been in school this week. A spike is inevitable. It is as if covid does not exist. We have 10 times higher cases than this time last year. Going into winter. SAGE has warned the govt. this week against NHS hospital chaos. The core fear of the govt. Yet the govt. is doing almost everything wrong ( IMO of course!)
Booster jab October good move. But loosening travel restriictions is utter lunacy . McNally at Uni of Birmingham suggests govt. is inviting transmission. I agree. Scotland proved schools are No 1 on list of transmitters. Yet zero restrictions. The jabs do not prevent transmission. To abandon pcr testing at airports is a politically driven act of lunacy. All the scientific advisory boards say that the more cases we have the more likely a new deadlier variant.
I am an ex party member. Resigned through incompetence of Boris. Even my Tory MP has agreed with me but cannot make it public of course. LFT’s from China are useless but the DHSC is secretive. The latest excuse is that travel tourists are being “ ripped off” by pcr’s at £69. I can think of many other ways the govt. is ripping us off through stealthy taxes. A fob-off excuse.
The govt. wants to save money and is making a BIG mistake as Mr. McNally says.
No restrictions!! Also in schools!! No statutory pcr tests on arrival at airports or within 3 days!!! Hallo covid…come on in in your new variant guise. I do not expect many people to like my powerful distaste for this govt’s ignorance but it is there. They are ( apart from vaccine) bordering on illegally incompetent as this involves loss of life.
We have a long winter.
Shoot me down ( as some love to do here!) but Ncyt seem not to give a hoot about the investor either. That may be contentious. But I am on an enormous 60% loss here ( since Jan) and it doesn’t improve.
I tend to be positive about Ncyt and just say bottom drawer and leave. Ok . Hope fully the winter will be more lucrative for them. But I think something at hthe agm/egm is called for.
Let’s see.
I’m far more appalled by the govt. even if my loss hurts more. Write to your MP. I have.
ATB to decent holders. It’s tough
The airlines and tour operators want no testing at all, anything that the government do short of that will leave them complaining in any case. They've already started complaining about the cost of LFTs before any anouncement . The government should have removed the vat on all travel testing and set a price cap for tests.
The overiding reason for people not traveling is the traffic lights system and the uncertainty surrounding it week to week, if we had robust testing it wouldn't be an issue.
However, nothing the government does other than completely scrapping testing will appease them, which they won't do so they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Bethels bone imo was disgraceful , caused ODX to spike to drop back down again , sucking in new holders , they've been on a promise for longer then I care to remember. He is more then aware of the impact his comments have on the markets.
If we remain utilising Innova tests we will bypass plan A and find ourselves rapidly immersed in plan B. Remember with all the issues that the NHS currently has they are only 'whelmed ' the overwhelmed comes later.
The PCR travel tests have very nicely filled a summer gap for NCYT to keep the revenue flowing. The holiday season is largely over.
We have Autumn/winter to come, busiest time for NCYT.
Who knows what next year will bring.
Being a salesman I bet our new CEO's RNS's are a lot more positive than previous looking forward.
My issue is that I don't take anything the gov says or tweets to mean anything at all. Their actions speak louder than their words, and for whatever reason they have chosen to get in bed with the chinese (it's probably a trade agreement behind the scenes that has caused this, but just my instinct there). For sure we're well positioned, and at this low price what's the downside. At this point its so low as to not even be worth worrying about.
Blulight, you can only go by Bethels tweet the other day that the gov seems to have thrown some companies a bone. Maybe some of them will need a raise. I would expect this to expand further. However perhaps the government will just keep using cheap Chinese tests for the majority. But LFT's will be used one way or another.
Novacyt have to play the ball not the man. I think they are in great shape to do that and PCR demand will be high without travel business.
Kitzie drove me daft looking for the 2nd gen in an Rns the other day I must have missed it from 23rd April Rns
Launch of LFT to detect SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies
o Development of LFT to detect and differentiate between SARS-CoV-2 IgG
antibodies, launch expected Q3 2021.
I would appreciate greatly the company launching this in said timeframe.
Until Uk manufacturers can meet demand? Aren't the likes of ODX sat there with masisve capacity but no orders because the Uk gov has fobbed them off and taken more Chinese imports? For us we can absorb the UK govs shenanigans as we built up a huge cashpile. these other guys have got no income whilst they await the Uk gov, but still have the large overheads. I'd say the small boys probably have their finger on the rights issue button ala GDR right about now. They wont survive the wait.
Unfortunately probably being replaced by more Chinese tests until UK manufactures can meet capacity demands.
if LFTs are here to stay surely we need to know what tests are being used.
The innova product rebranded as NHS tests are of questionable accuracy and the FDA has not approved them. Although the UK has bought loads supposedly this contract has not been renewed and current stock is being used up.
So what is it being replaced by?
Seems madness to scrap PCR without an adequate replacement being in place on day 1
If you are hoping for that Kitzie, and believe that is the only way to recover the SP then to be honest I would be selling now. LFT's are here to stay now, as long as Covid is around. Use will become even wider.
Thankfully I think the demand for PCR in hospitals and as secondary testing will still be huge and hopefully Novacyt can take more market share and expand globally.
Plus as some point they will have an LFT available to sell.
Covido -
"Nobody leaves an opportunity on the table like this that long."
So why is it that AFAWK we have not had a serious offer?
IMO it is probable not possible that we have had low offers, but NO CREDIBLE OFFERS?
Shareholders are not being told of all significant contracts.
vis:
https://novacyt.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/NVT-SOC-companys-activity.pdf
• Secured significant contracts with national governments, including the UK DHSC, and national nongovernment organisations for the supply of COVID-19 products
Likewise we are not being advised of significant M&A interest.
There is probably plenty of insignificant interest I'll be bound.

Covidopportunist - pre Government the price was 295p. So we are scrapping the barrel.
The reason it catapulted last September was the Government you are right but to state its £1 without is just garbage.
@Wilson63
Didn't you mean ' complementary ' ?
Thanks for the compliments anyway, much appreciated.
On that note, off out for a bit of fresh air.
Covid,
You're right...as soon as then far east home LFT get's used up....it will all go to symptomatic testing with PCR....coz thats the only one than can detect variants for booster production.....the home test will die a natural death as it's not fit for purpose in any form.....by then NCYT will have their 2nd gen antibody test and that will go straight to the vaccine developers.

Complimentary to troublesomes telegraph post.
Skeletor in essence you will have to wait for Q3 figures as it's only in Q3 it's been applicable so in essence it's a 3 month as yet unknown boost to our figures.
SP £3.11 - This is hurting
But blaming the government for the SP is ridiculous. Without the initial gov contracts it would not have got above £1 and they would not be sitting on the huge cash pile.
It's an absolute waste of time to discuss what the gov should or shouldn't do regarding travel, it is what it is and it will be what it will be. The GM/BOD are the ones who are responsible for the SP and they have done very little to defend it!
GM dropped the ball, massively, with the GOV and hence he was pushed. Hopefully the new guy will sort it out!
Fundamentals of the business and cash means either an SP recovery or takeover. Nobody leaves an opportunity on the table like this that long. It getting to the stage of buying free money!
Science is a complete mystery to the twazzock.
He keeps making the same Classic mistakes apart from having the apparent ability to pass the buck.
Doesn’t anyone in here have a rough view of the % of NCYT’s monthly rev that comes from travel tests?
Doesn't matter what they announce today, it mainly to appease the travel industry. The govt know we're going into low peak travel soon and it's a last ditch effort. I supply and procure around human and animal health and the LFT antigen is by most a first screen basis only...the medical profession sees PCR still very much as the gold standard.
The media narrative will change around the busy ness of hospitals and queues and waiting times are already very high....t the back log is getting bigger as a&e queues are getting longer.....I see it everyday in 2-3 trusts each week....that's the real story out there....it's a disgrace!
