B2 I noted they have two other sites and it's the rapidly expanding comment in this job vacant that caught my eyes(and the climbing wall)
You will be supported by a large, dedicated team of engineers from Labman’s rapidly expanding HQ in North Yorkshire, UK. It is a creative and innovative environment, full of the latest robotic systems and technology, as well as climbing walls, gym, go-karts and even a squash court. You’ll have many opportunities to work from the HQ, and thus enjoy the breath-taking East Coast and North York Moors.
Kaeren, just liked your post 6 times...
GM forward thinking was mandatory, and he might not have bought if all the ducks weren't in a row,
however security of supply is now safeguarded.
The local company I think is best placed to assist with production is below:
https://www.labmanautomation.com/expertise/instrument-development/
Take a really good look at this, I believe this company is related because one or two IT-IS staff have worked here,
and although it looks mostly R&D and bespoke projects, the manufacture tab states "Large-scale manufacturing and QC"
I think it is healthy to be aware of potential pitfalls but do not believe GM has not got this sorted already. His due diligence prior to purchasing would have been robust. Gearing up manufacturing would have been near the top if not top of his agenda. He bought it because it is a potential goldmine , my bet is premises and staff already sorted. K
Hi Shaun, - re your question, What level do you think Graham would like the production level to be, perhaps a thousand per month?
I don't have a maximum figure in mind, because if UK shows the way in fast mobile PCR testing, RoW orders will follow, with exponential demand.
What is clear is that the IT-IS Stokesley facility are completely inadequate (according to google maps) for large scale increases in production, - extra production will need to be outsourced.
A local company that I believe IT-IS has a long established working relationship with, might have facilities available for a new production line, but I guess GM would have some of the required answers before buying the IT-IS.
This really is a wait and see moment.
B2 yes remember when we were gutted when we didn't make the machines, how quickly things change.
What is very interesting is in august they could make 300 machines a month and now according to the novacyt insider we have the 700 for the additional dhsc order ready to go, so did they have stock on the shelf have we already cranked up production significantly? Of course the it-is directors have a huge financial carrot over the next two years to increase production capacity I look on with great interest.
B2HS2L, thanks for the link .That visit took place 11 days after the care homes trial was announced and probably played a big part in the successful awarding of the recent NHS contract. What did suprise was the fact that they had upped production to 300 unit's a month as of the beginning of August. Since then we know they have been recruiting staff ,so that figure could be approaching the 400 mark by now .These numbers show they can meet the demand for the home market and still service the overseas market.
More research on IT-IS.

It would seem that they do manufacture as the above suggests, butit is not a large company.
Great find Wilson lots of info.
Liked the Czech Eligene test, and noted that it claimed 'Increased sensitivity and specificity due to amplification of 3 independent SARS-CoV-2 targets in a single PCR reaction."
"Special Technology developed in EU by Elisabeth Pharmacon viral isolation kits".
The KH Medical test has received CE-IVD marking, and is for use with Nasal Swabs or Sputum.
Thanks also to Larry and Gasman.
Bril thread by Larry reposted by gasman IMHO
