I agree with that the children provide a conduit for the virus to spread into locked down households.
To minimise economic losses that are happening it seems far better to do the lock down properly once , rather than constantly dipping in and out of business crippling control measures.
Also everyon coming in on flights should be quarantined for a period then tested to ensure clear to mitigate importation of virus.
People will get hungry - in the next month. PM now on..
Agreed-as always that will be the big decision..what support for all those about to lose their income/business/entire livelihood ??
I think if they really want to try to get a grip on this all schools need to close, as well as the other businesses. Our kids might not be much affected but they will continue to spread the virus. It should prove easier to receive lessons at home this time, in fact our school handled it really well last time Even I learned a lot! I'd love to be a fly on the wall in 10 Downing St. Is it Larry the cat who's been leaking all the details?
Agreed Bramley1967
And likely fast-tracking of clearance for all and any options waiting im the wings (multiplex et al).
November looks like will be defining time for NCYT and others.
I’ve a table booked at our local Thai and am sitting waiting for BoJo. He’s clearly got dissenters in the cabinet to quell and a message to fine-tune; not least of which is ‘what’s the financial support this time?’
All the best
Intrepid.
I hear a whisper that teaching unions are pushing for some kind of measures on secondary schools (data shows that they are as high drivers of infection as universities)-maybe they are still arguing about that! Have to say that based on the evidence it looks like they really should shut secondary schools to really get on top of things-or at least have some kind of part school/part home teaching to reduce numbers on site
Same old circus. Do you think the f###wits realise there are tens of millions sat in front of their tv's waiting for Boris to appear?
Hang -on 4pm, 5pm now 6.30 pm
They can't call it Tier 4 re: Sturgeon or Circuit Breaker re: Starmer or Fire-Break re: Drakeford.
Any suggestions ??
sky reporting 18.30
Did you say 5 pm Bramley ?
Looks like the back-room boys are unable to come up with right combination of weasel words or where to put the full stops and commas to enable the theatrics necessary for the PM.
Agreed Porky9 and Vadim confirmed the same with respect to the supply and demand imbalance going significantly into 2021 and that was before what I believe will be second Lockdown to be announced by BJ shortly.
I think it is inevitable phase 2 will be triggered as I see no sudden end to demand for testing and the government have to plan ahead. I also think this new lockdown will not be as effective as the lockdown earlier this year, some people just want to get on with their lives, particularly the young who are at lower risk. Even if there is a vaccine rolled out from end of November we still do not know how long it will give immunity or whether it will be less effective for some people. We also know the virus is mutating which could be a problem for the vaccine. If the vaccine isn't fully effective in controlling the virus, mass testing will be the only way forward.
I think it’s all hands to the pump frankly, we need as many tests as possible so I would say it’s a nobrainer to extend the contract to the max testing capacity.
Although nothing is certain, if I was in gov I would spread it out to get the job done, it’s clear to me that demand far far far exceeds any capacity currently in place
Good afternoon all
No doubt like me you will be glued to the tv at 5pm to see what Boris is going to say. If we do go into lockdown across the country for a month which is what is predicted do we feel this might force phase 2 of our contract with the dhsc for the additional 700 machines early?
What’s people’s thoughts on that?
