'GET THE PRIMERDESIGN TEST ROLLED OUT IN ALL THE LABS AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. YOU WILL REPORT TO ME DAILY WITH AN UPDATED GANTT CHART, SO I CAN SEE YOU ARE DOING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD.'
But does Johnson know how to understand a Gantt chart, does anybody in Government?
VanV, as I suspect PHE to want to use their own test (from R4 Today broadcast) would this be a question for RP to ask?
Lead in would be:
Are PHE contempating using their own in-house test solution as opposed to the private sector for the supply of an antigen PCR test?
Followed by:
How does the PHE in-house test compare to the private sector tests in terms of percentage compliance to positive test cases, number of minutes (hours) before a test result is obtainable, homology against covid19 mutations and cost?
VanV,
it would be good to see from the PHE assessment how the the in-house PHE test faired against NYCT, TF, Roche ( or whoever the selected 3 are) , in terms of obtaining test result and conformance to positive test cases. Time is not on the UKs side.
11:08 hope that you don't mind - tweeted the capitals to Boris and PHE. Gotta keep plugging away - thanks for your efforts and opinions.
Just watched the interview with Robert Jenrick. The Gov is delivering mixed messaged on many fronts right now. It is a tad strange, i do appreciate this is an unprecedented situation. But surely go with the tests that exist, then try develop your own.
It has increasingly been looking as if PHE has been favouring its own test, when it would have been better for everyone if the faster test from Primerdesign had been used.
If Boris is going to do anything to marginally redeem himself, he should bang some heads together and say, 'GET THE PRIMERDESIGN TEST ROLLED OUT IN ALL THE LABS AVAILABLE IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY. YOU WILL REPORT TO ME DAILY WITH AN UPDATED GANTT CHART, SO I CAN SEE YOU ARE DOING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD.'
UK is just about to increase the National Debt by about £500 Billion.
Just as in wartime money is not an issue.
They will print it if necessary.
Our test is too expensive for the UK government, fact! They only have a limited amount to spend so went for the cheapest option for the majority, our test is reserved for the UK gentry!!!!!!

Please stop with the abbott rubbish - it does 1 test at a time. So 1 test in 15mins. If you are doing mass testing you need a proper big lab diagnostic kit. For example NCYT primer design can run on Roche's and can process 360+ tests all at the same time in 2-3 hours. which equates to 2-3 tests a minute. Abbott will be useful in small numbers for on point testing but not mass testing.

PHE seem to want to go with their in-house test.
The PHE PCR test takes 2/3 days for result, Novacyt 90-120 minutes. This delta time is now critical. Novacyt 100% conformance to positive test cases.
We need to go with the most accurate and FASTEST test. The Novacyt test!
VanV please listen to Today on iplayer/Sounds. Good question for RP ?
