I see the french board have had nothing but de-rampers mainly over the weekend. Is Voleon getting worried for the week ahead?
B2H, many reasons to do it.
Definitely fun and games going on behind the scene though....we'll find out soon enough.

"It isn't a five minute job to buy out a company. Huge amount of due diligence for a company like AZN to go through and to ensure that NCYT were the 'real deal' and not another wannabe.
Whilst doing that DD, you might want to do what you could to suppress the target's SP though. Just saying....".
You might also want to suppress the target's SP whilst waiting to see if the Govnt is going to award part of the £5 Bn (over 2 yrs) Govnt cash pile for Covid-19 testing etc to AZN.
No contract, or materially insignificant award, MIGHT change the PoV of AZN board, as NCYT (assay supplier) would also not benefit.

70.6 Mil shares in issue, so 30% = 21.18 Mil shares need to be acquired by prospective purchaser before they must make an offer.

Apologies Morningsun. Rushing out of work I speed read all the posts and misread. Just Re-read your post now. Apologies.
Usain, nice to see your grammar has returned lol
Wolverine, of course not. Post was sarcastic. Next timed I'll outline such.
MS
Would love an after hours juicy RNS,I know some posters do not agree.
monster squees here one day
Morningsun, you don’t honestly believe Putin used his own daughter as a guinea pig do you? And that he’s telling the truth? Lol. This is Putin we’re talking about.

Ms injected her with what though :)
Alansugar I'm sure they started shorting at 3.20 happy to be told differently.
Wolverine, what do you mean not 100% save?? Putin just injected one of his daughters with it... LoL
Great idea as if it is save for her and survives she is genetically closest to him so he might be good too. Or they might all turn green and fly.
MS
my guess is a combination of trotters and wolverine. machine algorithm picking up on market data/news and increasing the short
Astra have debt they need to refinance, no way would all 3bn go on a takeover.
DEAS. that is exactly the tweet that Bladesharp did.
Maybe true, maybe not.
Two weeks then from today, just about right with the September results as you wouldn't want to make a bid after that ;-)
Anyway, GBP15 per SP works for me! That values us at GBP1 bln. Fingers crossed the full USD3 bln is for us and takes us even higher!
MS
P.S. Voleon's shorting technique is applied by a machine algorithm, so to short a company at another's request to keep it down for a takeover would seemingly go completely against that methodology.
There are a couple of reasons they would short, it’s technical related (there would surely be a human override for something like this). With so much news due they could get badly burnt.
They know something that could cause the share price to fall (less likely due to insider trading).
Or the collaboration with Astra. No idea which one it is and I’m open for other suggestions, just seems very risky to keep increasing a short position with so much on the horizon.
Maybe Voleon are riding on the back of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine? If so, it’s pretty premature of them to think the vaccine is 100% safe. Who knows? Everyone’s guess is good as each other’s! GLA
I just don't see it as anything other than a complete coincidence, but would be very happily proven wrong.
I still maintain a share price target and if this was done to help keep a low offer on the table, i'll just reject it and carry on.
Usain, just through experience of having sat through similar situations in the past.
I've bored people in the past as to why I think a TO is on the cards.
You appear to discount the idea, can you tell us why you're so sure?
Bungle, it’s not illegal, in fact Astra and Voleon did it in 2015, voleon increased their short, 2 weeks later Astra put in a bid. Just a hostile takeover, as I’ve said before Astra know first hand how well the vaccine testing is going and how long testing will be around.
Could be true, may not be, all you can do is join the dots.
Haha, great fun and games going on here. Little doubt for me that AZN are trying to close a deal on NCYT. Was expecting it to happen yesterday, but these things rarely land when expected. The question is not 'why would they?' anymore, it's 'why wouldn't they?'......
"Something aint right, why would u short Novacyt, its a mental idea at £3"
When were they all put in place, it's moved for £5 to under £3 recently, shorts depending on their entry could be doing extremely well.
"Could GM be in on it, holding back news to assist?"
No, it's extremely unlikely he is breaking the law to assist a buy out. If you are even entertaining that idea I'd sell if I were you, I couldn't be aligned with such a fraudulent board.
Well if true that would make sense, even if not necessarily how one would expect a “close commercial partner” to behave... but probably naive of me to think that such matters would count for so much when the stakes would be so high
Just another conspiracy theory for now
