can we please be accurate when we report information. short hand or assumptions presented as factual accounts can have consequences for bb contributors
Quite Aussie - going to take a closer look at the governments of the Nordic lands - I used to visit SAAB (Aerospace) in Sweden in the 90's quite often and was always impressed how relaxed (calm and collected) they were in many aspects of life - quite impressed - more of a logical approach than an emotional approach to governance - 'live long and prosper' V
I bet Peston is!
My thoughts exactly Bob. This calls for a new type of leadership where people come first.
Perhaps the atmosphere is already starting to change with all the "check on a friend" stuff nowadays. I hope so.
Running the country is far too important to be left to politicians.
Aussie - time will tell that's for sure but we could never have a labour party in gov't - we need a new form of government - not one based on the old politics - but one based on the best of human characteristics not the worst - time for social and personal changes into a more constructive development phase of our species.
Anyone else looking forward to the 5pm coronavirus interview ?
When it's all over and the dust has settled, you can bet your life that someone will fully investigate what happened and will write a book about all the failings. The Tories will be lucky to get another term after that.
They attacked all of the tests when they said they were unreliable and unable to make them, because that clearly isnt the case.
They may not have mentioned any by name, but guilty by association if you believe what Gove said.
No one attacked our product, Lorenzo. We cast aspersions on the government and their testing capacity. They replied in a dishonest disgraceful way. In any event the relationship is damaged and that is not to our advantage.
Novacyt have the best product on the market and the capacity to make 4 million a month.
Doesn't really back up the "lack of reliable tests, and lack of raw materials" argument that makes it look like its all the manufacturers fault.
Agreed ds.
I don't want to over-dramatise but this is a war, and at such times the govt should take all views on board, whether they like them or not. This is no time for them to complain to teacher that someone called them a name.
If someone attacks your product, you are going to defend it surely.
The turn around for testing is definitely taking 48 hours for results as witnessed by a family member yesterday. It's BS!
I agree with you Aussie but we are a commercial organisation. We might be speaking the truth but it’s never a good idea, surely, to fall out with your customers unnecessarily.
If this turns out to be one of the things that help crack this pandemic, and the government refuse to engage with Novacyt because they have called them out on their lies.
Then that could be the ultimate PR disaster, and not for Novacyt.
Agreed. But if the Govt starts playing silly point-scoring games when people are dying, they certainly don't deserve to be in power. Take a look at New Zealand, where it's all about looking after the people. Massive contrast with Gove.
Got to say that it was pretty naive of Achilleas Neophytou, our Marketing Manager, to be critical of the government in his comments. Never a good idea to publicly **** off one of your potentially biggest customers. It got the predictable response with an unnamed “Government Spokesman” making disgraceful comments about the possible unreliability of our test. Surely we all know that Governments will always defend their actions in any way possible, lies or otherwise. Anyway, where does this now leave the state of our relationship with HMG. Neophytou would have been much better advised to make reassuring comments about the reliability of our test and our willingness to help the country in any way we can. We are now left in potential loggerheads with a massive customer. I appreciate that there are many other potential customers in the world but this was not good in my view.
