@Porky, Thanks for that, interesting times ahead. GLA
@whatnonewsyet
IF an official stated interest is put forward to the company they are duty bound to report it.
However, it doesn't always work like that. Often you have "unofficial approaches" we know that GM had such an approach last year which he declined.
So lets say that "unofficially" I'm interested in company A" i don't want the SP to rally before i have put my bid in and its accepted but i want to ensure support for my bid when do i table one. I may look at the IIs involved and it may be that BlackRock have helped me on previous deals, so i say to black rock "unofficially" that im looking at company "A". Black rock then start buying, mms help keep the SP in a tight range whilst they add. Then once the company accounts are ready and i know what the full position is and my offer i then put forward a bid.
Next thing the market sees is an RNS saying "We have been approached by X they are considering a bid at X increase on the closing price on Y date" deal consists of cash/ shares whatever.
Its total speculation and may well be that this is not the case DYOR
However, imo the recent SP manipulation and behaviour of the business points to something not quite right but we will see. If black Rock come in as expected at 5%+ you could argue its a sound investment choice and nothing more however, if they increase to 8% or above i would say that it has more chance of being related to a potential acquisition deal as we have seen similar situations before.

@Porky9, help me out here. If an offer is made then GM would have to notify the shareholders for approval? At the moment private investors hold sway. This stuff is above my pay grade. Clearly many tricks can be played here by an acquirer to get the company cheaply. The only thing we can count on is that there is more than one suitor for a company that has no debt, cash sloshing about in the coffers, great products a very good relationship with DHSC, getting a foothold in US, POC devices coming into their own, PCR tests that are beating others, What is not to like. All this talk on the board is designed to unnerve the small guy. This is attrition to grind the PIs out. Time for contract news to land and stop buy out rumours.
Porky, I agree. No need for insults. We're all comrades here, fighting the same fight.
Soder, if you disagree with anyone, please tell us what you think and include your reasoning, if at all possible. Feelings or hunches are also welcome. But, please keep it civil - life is tough enough as it is.
@Soder
Bit of a key board warrior are we sunshine?
Absolutely no place on a stock BB for that level of insult.
Disagree by all means, put forward a contra position, never insult.
" The Market Values you at £500M", We have more than likely got that much in the petty cash tin.
I've stated this in another post below, but it's relevant here as well.
I would like an offer the board recommends, at a much later date, when turnover of
genomic sequencing products is much higher.
Any offer now is not likely to be recommended, because those same genomic sequencing products
have not had traction time to prove they are truly market disrupting, thus adding value.
The BoD wouldn’t accept anything under the 52 week high especially when they know the value of the business. A lot may have happened since Jan. For an informal / formal offer it would be seen as taking the p*ss.
What’s the concerning issue is if a hostile takeover were to occur.
It won't come in at that, but if if came in at 80% above that it would have a chance of being accepted (hence £12 not £20-£30).
I'm saying a bidder will not be surprised when his £500m bid is refuted.
So you don't think a bidder would try and take advantage of this weak SP? Instead you think they'll play nice and fair and offer what we think the company's worth? You think they'll say 'the market is valuing you at £500m but would you take £2 billion?'
HarChris, thank for the explanation. I had my tongue firmly in my cheek with my last comment. Just having a glass of wine and wanting to cheer myself up after another depressing sp performance day. I agree with you though - we're more likely to get an offer if the sp is low but it's a big IF.
HarChris -
'You don't usually see offers 200% of the current share price'
Also, you don't usually see companies like Novacyt with a p/e as low as this.
Scaredie that's not what I'm saying, the lower the SP the more likely a bid comes in on the cheap. All the while the SP struggles to break £7 we aren't getting an offer of £20, let alone £30... More likely a cheeky attempt to take out ncyt for under a billion.
You don't usually see offers 200% of the current share price!
Bing....yes you are correct, GM mentioned it in a interview with Times! Which makes me think, has he done a news paper interview since? Anyway to rumour, at least it would generate some excitement, got to be better then looking at a sp of £7...lol
Harchris, very true. It would be more stimulating than this current situation.
B2, true however it would be challenging to let go of a company that you’ve built up from the ground.
Either way it’s all speculation.
Oriens1, who does that???!!! I feel for them already.
Deas, 450% profit not good enough? I admire your attitude. I'd be happy to cover my losses. Pathetic, isn't it?
HarChris, in that case, I'll open a bottle of bubbly every time the sp goes down. I certainly have no other occasion for it so far... Let's hope you're right about the negative correlation.
Porky you are so full of ****. It’s embarrassing to read. Are blackrock at activist investor that does what you are saying? Let me answer that for you, NO. They are just passive real money. They are not Elliot or Carl Icahn or third point or Pershing. Maybe you could spend more time getting smart instead of talking absolute junk on here.
Oriens, - I think they do know about Novacyt,
- the company who is starting to make inroads into their market share, and repeatedly introduces market disrupting products so quickly partnered with Chartwell Consulting.
Yes, they have reported that they had been approached way back, and probably again even more so now. Until something is announced, a rumour is all it is.
Cripes Deas, - broke the mouse hitting Recommend so hard.
++++
IMO GM is 58, and is holding 122,506 shares for a reason.
If he gets, or negotiates an offer he wants to accept, his nest will be feathered in his retirement.
The company might not be worth so much if he is not leading it,
but any buyer won't be short of candidates, or outside applicants.
The rumours are almost exclusively founded here on this bb. Having said that they aren't at all far fetched, even more so the lower the share price goes sadly.
Bing.....there was rumours last March of a to....but only on this board! No one back then had really heard of ncyt....fast forward a year, and still most people haven't heard of them yet! Lol....at least it would generate some excitement! Instead of counting how many milk bottles get delivered to their offices and then logging on it a spreadsheet and getting all excited because they increase their order by one bottle a day lol
Deas, don't worry about it. If we get a £30 takeover I can assure you you'll find another share worth putting your large novacyt profits into. Never turn down a quick 450% profit !
LOL. No point doing it here. Who's got friend in Sky, BBC, Daily Mail et al???
