There’s a difference between expecting to complete and actually completing. Leaving it to the last day to announce or announce a delay or say nothing doesn’t show the board in a good light.
The fact that Minister of Mining, Albert Mbawala said “We thought they were doing a joke with Malawi” during his visit is not brilliant so it’s no wonder the price is down after the tweet. If that has been the govt attitude it raises questions about MKA and their positive tweets etc.
Lewis
Recent mentions in company docs have specifically said the FS is a definitive feasibility study (DFS). For example, from the March quarterly management discussion - " ...currently working on a definitive feasibility study (the
“Feasibility Study”) which is expected to conclude during the second quarter of 2022."
Also if you watch Alexander Lemon's interview he corrects himself to confirm it is the DFS that is about to be filed.
The company did talk about a BFS early on but for many months, perhaps since the restructuring, it has clearly been a DFS underway.
My understanding is the BFS at the end of June. I find no reference to DFS. Other than sofas :-)
MKA have consistently said they expected to complete the DFS by the end of June. In the brief interview on twitter from ITM Online on the 24th, Alexander Lemon actually said the DFS had been completed and was going through its final checks and would be lodged in a very short while. They may only report when the DFS is filed.
The MDA may well take longer. The timing is as much about the government as MKA but hopefully, again from the interviews, is going well.
The next step after that may depend on whether the restructuring of the company relates to strategic players in the background, perhaps just waiting for the MDA to be completed. If the funding is a more conventional debt and equity model then the next step may actually be to produce a BFS.
Precisely. Delays are always frustrating and the SP is being reflected by that. But when news comes, and the company advances, it will be exciting. One day left of June. We shall see. It is certainly quite annoying that there has been a lack of news but there could be a number of reasons for this…
MKA announces its BFS and/or MDA tomorrow or not, it will do very well when it does so. It has a globally important deposit of something the world needs and the West craves to have outside Chinese control. GLA.
Super. What do you make of all these large trades going through ?
Agree mate. I’ve been peeeed with them for many months. Just feel like they could have done so much more to improve the awareness and share price of Mka.
I am still holding all my shares I'm just peed off with approach management are taking. A share needs news, lots of it and on time.
Super. For once I totally disagree. “A lot further to go” suggests the 15p range and it will never get there. Absolutely not. With the news that’s due I hope you haven’t sold off too many. It’s tempting and if you or anyone does for a profit then good luck because we are here to make money.
Let’s hope we can finish blue today …. Yes I am optimistic today. Let’s go !!! BFS and MDA will keep this in play for this week and next !!!
Things were different last year We are now in a terrible bear market. Unless management realise this and deliver the BFS on time, the share price drift has a lot further to go. It is absolutely critical that they stick to their own heavily delayed deadlines or fully update the market by RNS.
Steady on chaps. Who’s rushing for the exit door ffs.
Lots of selling this early ??? Hmmmmm
Really strange how MKA lost its mojo completely after hitting the 39p high. Let’s hope it doesn’t fall much lower here. :((
It depends on what it says. My take, the MDA is more important.
The BFS will preclude additional finance needed to remain a hoing concern and I think it will be the driver for the price.
My guess - 20-25p raise price. Push to 30p ahead of MDA and then 35p MDA confirmed. Drive to 40p ahead of FEED and mine finance.
However, if this gets reevaluated against its peers at any point then it will be above 50p at MDA
Here’s a bit of fun… if the BFS dropped tomorrow, what material impact do we think it might have on the SP? 10%? 20% increase? Or will it be a case of stead increase to mid-30s over a month or so? I’ve been here before and been seriously underwhelmed after much anticipated news in other companies.
I agree and management have always been poor giving regular updates and news. In current market conditions they need to be a lot more proactive and I don't just mean the odd tweet or two.
Let’s hope there is news. If they miss their own deadline the market won’t like it. Those precious seconds are ebbing away this quarter.
I reckon there will be at least one RNS this week and another next week too.
Lewis. I agree with the delay but I wouldn’t say some way off. Sounds like another 3 months lol. Didn’t want to be negative because I know it upsets you but I believe this tweet / interview was done to kick the can further down the road by keeping the investors on edge like a meerkat.
It’s absolutely shocking how the parliament speech months ago could not make the minister conduct a site visit ….possible only until now.
I don’t think they have a decent legal system or administrative know how to process applications on time. I’m glad we are not drilling a wild cat oil well but finalising plans for what we ALREADY HAVE !!!
If the minister has just got off his a-s-s and visited the site, the MDA is still someway off in my opinion. Some of the wording he used in that interview, "I thought they weren't serious" etc makes you think.
However, BFS should be there regardless and MDA will come.
This is a good accumulator point I suspect. I've added x3 over the last few weeks
F hope so. Looking at the scramble to buy today makes us put “ going to the moon “ to shame :))
The rns to confirm £500k received and the bfs. 2 rns definitely this week as stated by mka themselves.
Add another 1 atleast next week. Looks like the MDA is going through a constipation phase and should squeeze out first week of July at some point.
Read this attachment paras 20 and 21 and understand that Mkango does not have the resources to comply with the two month deadline if their samples show a commercial discovery. All go on the REE discovery instead which looks extremely positive.

It seems as things are most definitely coming to a head now! Release of BFS and MDA will be the gateway to release of further more important as to path to monetisation of the company on a large scale.
It should be a very telling week. Good luck to all of us who have backed this one. There certainly does seem to be the makings of a fine company who will play a major part in a cleaner future. Let’s hope it’s only a few more tics and tocs before the clock strikes boom.
Great posts from MKA. Certainly been officially told the BFS is going to be announced this week. Happy that the minister managed to get to the site.
Trying to stay positive is key here and it’s been sad looking at the sp and it’s volume which will surely get a myles tweet to add to the pump higher.
Just quickly ….why it took the minister so long to go to the site ? He was pushing the MDA months ago in that parliamentary speech so let’s hope he’s a bit quicker this time. MDA & BFS should take us towards 30p. It’s been late but I think it will be worth it. Where the …. Is the rutile rns ? Mka need to put in a shift. Shame we are so low at 22p. Can see traders getting on tomorrow morning then selling off Tuesday. Bfs will be rns’d Wednesday I reckon. My personal target for close on Friday is 26p mid.
The MDA is a big thing : it allows what and when they can mine. With whom they can mine with. What the £££ involved and who gets what. There’s so much discussed on a undercover level hence delays. Malawi government must have been told about the offtake receptors who are ready and the likely hood of US funding it. The MDA unlocks the future for MKA. Hold on folks. When it comes it will be explosive and many many rns will follow.
Big news on Twitter!

Yes, I (and I like to think all LTHs of MKA) fully agree to the above.
But... given the fact that this BFS, so very important to MKA and us shareholders, takes soooo long, delay after delay, and less than a month ago it has been repeated by BOD that the BFS will be RNSed this Q2 (only 4 trading days remaining), makes you wonder.
Yes, in theory there will be a RNS next week, but I find it a bit difficult to believe they're still working on this right now.
Perhaps an explanation by the BOD, would be appreciated.
Hope to be proven wrong!
GLA,
oh, and don't forget: you would NOT want to be out of this over the weekend ;)
