That picked up quick! Cotec news incoming?
Quite a positive advert for Malawi and anyone thinking of investing there. Can only be a positive for MKA.
US grants $350m for Malawi projects, hailing good governance

WASHINGTON - The United States on Wednesday signed a $350 million grant for infrastructure projects with Malawi's President Lazarus Chakwera, hailing his record on good governance.
The aid through the Millennium Challenge Corporation, which assists developing nations that meet democratic benchmarks, will fund a major road network in the African country to connect rural and urban areas.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken hailed Chakwera for his "deep commitment to democratic and economic reform" and called the project a "remarkably positive opportunity" to boost agricultural production in Malawi.
"These projects will be transparent. They'll be collaborative and built to meet the highest standards of quality," Blinken said.
"They'll provide grants to Malawi -- not debt," Blinken said, drawing an implicit contrast to rising power China, which frequently faces US-led charges of burdening developing nations with flashy projects that come in the form of unfavourable loans.
Chakwera was elected in 2020 on a campaign to fight corruption in the developing country. Earlier this year he sacked seven ministers over graft concerns.
"My administration has taken a zero-tolerance stance against corruption, shielding no one from investigation and prosecution," Chakwera said before the signing with Blinken.
Voicing gratitude to the United States, he said, "Together we're making strides for everyone's good."
Chakwera called on the United States to consider a further project that would jointly include Zambia and Mozambique and give landlocked Malawi reliable access to the Indian Ocean.
"Safe and reliable rail and road transport investments will certainly help reduce barriers to growth and create opportunities for all of our people," Chakwera said.
President Joe Biden's administration has put a renewed focus on Africa as it seeks to counter not only China but Russia, which has sought to limit support in the developing world for punishing Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.

I hope we will be fine. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow if Credit Suisse folds.
The world is in an incredibly turbulent state, huge political games are being played and inevitably rare earths will soon overtake all other issues. We’re in a fantastic position if China decides to take the supply chain away in response to US rhetorical threats.
Add to this the EU’s recent acknowledgement that we’ve completed set ourselves up for trouble! MKA will be fine.
The newsflow has always been this way. The MDA was meant to be done in June (Malawi govt words), we are now October. It needs to be done to move forward. Liklihood it's done already but there are other factors at play. Takeover? Long term finance to BFS? Offtake?
One thing for sure we will find out in next 2 months, also COP 27 will ignite interest
the ceo has sat on his hands and watched all the progress made over the past few years completely evaporate. not even a mild attempt to protect shareholders interests. pathetic
No live bid even for £500 pounds worth!
What a shambles!
Few observations from the recently announced Lindian deal in Malawi:
- Mining licence appears to have been already granted on their project, and is transferrable to Lindian as part of the deal, so hopefully this is an important precedent and Mkango will be able to secure at least as favourable terms from the Malawi government for the Songwe licence area.
- Lindian have agreed to pay more than the current market cap of Mkango for the Kangankunde asset, despite it having an existing JORC resource of half of the proven and probably reserves of Songwe and appearing to need significant amounts of further work to get it up to the DFS stage.
- Given this recent M&A deal, and considering the significant NPV from the Songwe project, Mkango's exploration upside, as well as its recycling tech, one would assume that there are potential suitors examining Mkango as a potential acquisition target given its current lowly market cap.
We get to 30p on anticipation, drop to 11p on delivery of DFS. Need a quick resolution on the MDA .
10 trading days left for Cotecs decision.
CoTec may extend exclusivity to 31 December 2022 by completing the £2 million (C$3 million) convertible note to Mkango ("Mkango Note") by 15 October 2022. The value of the Advance and the Initial Advance will be off-set against the Mkango Note.
Just another casual 11% drop, where is the bottom?? Surely it has to be close! ... I think its a case of switch off til Xmas and see where we are at. Hopefully MDA/funding is just getting the final tweeks rather than sat in a bottom drawer.
Just noticed it on radio. So maybe a good listen
Very quiet at the moment. Just seen an link on twitter about a BBC
documentary about importance of rare earths. Not expecting a rise in the share price but for those invested. It may be a good watch.
Looking like 12 today and possibly beyond in the coming weeks and months. This company have astronomical potential from here given the rare earths narrative atm. Anyone got any good peer comparisons who are ready to announce finance with the NPV we have but are rated so low? Id be amazed if there were more than a handful in our position right now. It’s painful to ride this spiral but I 100% believe in the value of this investment. What interesting times. So wish I could average down!
Quite unbelievable isn't it. Thought we were building up a bit of a head of steam last week - then a few small sells and they mark it down 10% !!! - Keep the faith and do an RNS dance for this week.
Well, there is 4/5ths of zero interest here at the moment.

Expecting a strong response to last weeks news, investors will undoubtedly start building positions in listed companies working in the sector. Given our stance on mining, refining and recycling our business model is almost word for word what Von Der Leyen stated during the State Of The Union address.
Looking forward to seeing this gather interest.

China Controls the global processing industry with almost 90% of #RareEarths & 60% #Lithium being processed in #China This can't be allowed to continue! https://twitter.com/Share_Talk/status/1571067918720585735?s=20
