@WOS
I agree with you - I am happy with the long-term prospects following the LP news as well. Despite the Velo result today, MATD has been massively de-risked.
However, there will be a lot of these volatile price movements along the way in the next few months. Some people who placed stops have been robbed blind unfortunately by that huge manipulation. So AIM has to be navigated extremely carefully, with an awareness of artificial short term FOMO spikes, or sudden extreme price falls designed to scare and shake out weakholders and hit stops. For example if someone quite new to this had listened to Hamm on Thursday and bought at 6p on a wave of FOMO - ' guys don't miss out on this amazing opportunity, it will be 10p tomorrow ' and then today they had seen an open of 1.8p just imagine how they would have felt. They may have just panicked and sold the lot. That's my concern.
This, of course, provides an explanation as to why the share price did not skyrocket and reach double-digit values despite the excellent press release last week. Apparently, some people were already aware of the results in advance. However, I find it inexcusable that the CEO did not release this press release already on Friday after the stock market closed, but instead waited until Monday before the market opened. This behaviour is hardly understandable and almost gives the impression that the CEO did this on purpose to allow some people the opportunity to buy in cheaply. Well, from now on, the share price should really only know one direction."
Horult we all learn by our mistakes anyone who says otherwise is a liar end of, AIM is a cesspit.
From experience and the fundamentals going forward here I had absolutely no doubt this would be back over 4p gla
Reminder of the Block XX / Heron summary set out in Feb corporate presentation, potentially a few of these could crop up quite soon as newsflow:
"Transformational for the Company
• First oil forecast in 2023 using adjacent infrastructure
• 194 MMbo2 resource in place, 33 MMbo3 to >60 MMbo3
recoverable
• Low-cost appraisal/development
• Funded for production start up once the government
resolves land access issues
• Production equipment for Heron 1 acquired
• Negotiations for a multi-year multi-well drilling contract at
an advanced stage offering significant cost reduction
potential
• Negotiations on oil processing and export underway
• Near-field exploration will be targeted during exploitation
phase with high chance of success, low cost drilling,
significant resource potential"
I used to use them a lot when I started out. Working full time 12 hour days and no access to trading ( no mobile phone allowed at work )
When I got home and checked the account I got confused a couple of times in seeing that the SP was pretty much the same as the day before - but my shares had been sold
I learnt by that costly mistake and now rarely use them.
@Earlofaim
You would be correct if stop losses didn't exist. I warned people last week to watch out for the MMs trying to hit them....and I got some quite skeptical and even rude responses from a few people on here.
Dont worry you will see lot of experts coming here today to buy in.
Firmly focused on HERON oil revenues to kick in.
HERON asset valued at approx US $0.5 Billon
Great buying opportunity for anybody looking in OR accumulate during this brief window.
Gordon what you do if you were CEO of matad?
Focus is ofcourse on Heron and you really need LP and cashflow.
You secure LP but know everything in Mongolia can take longer than you hope so you talke to II for a private placement.
You agree to wait for Velo to determine the placement price.
This is what i would do. Would feel much better with extra 15mln in the bank going into Heron. I would not mind short term shareprice just like LTH would not mind.
To be clear. This is a scenario i made up. And yes i would participate if there would also be a retail offer but i genuinly think this is a fair scenario. Add in comments from MJ and it makes we wait at the sidelines DYOR

The MMs can see where all the stops are and they hit them !
Imagine how you would feel if you were stopped out at say 2.5p and now magically the price has recovered to 4p just a few minutes later....
@avo333
This is why some companies refuse to list in the UK, because they feel that international MMs are rooking local investors.
Look at what happened to Jet2 last Thursday after its profits increased by about £730m compared to its last earnings - the MMs used the fact that the chairman was stepping down to mark it down by 11%....One person commented that if a pilot caught a cold the MMs would mark the company down on the open by 10%...As Tom Williams, the creator of volume spread analysis software always used to say ' news can seriously damage your wealth .' I met him a few times and discussed this kind of thing. It's worth reading what he used to write about and say said about the stock market and what the MMS get up to. His software was designed to create signals on the large downspikes just before a large move up.
I set a limit buy with price of 4p last friday afternoon when I saw a drift on, was not expecting this news this morning and not expecting it to hit that price that fast, it was around £1k value so should not be too hard to fill
my buy actually went through at 3.5p
I take any of these claims of buying below 2p with a very large pinch of salt
Strangest retrace I have ever seen tbh. Of course it gives off some confidence but you have to ask why!
Were MM's chancing their luck? Did they get it completely wrong? It seems most seen it as a massive buy opportunity which backfired for the MM. The way it moved I don't think they even gave anyone a chance to sell at lows, it went through the gears very quickly.
As everyone has pointed out the V1 wildcat wasn't priced in, however its still a hit for the company, what has played in our favour is the unexpected XX license landing on Thurs! IMO the v1 result was known about on Thurs, The mms were very reluctant to let the sp move and shaved a chunk off on the Friday. Smells fishy.
The only way is up now! Don't listen to those suggesting a funding call, there is good cash in the bank!
Especially one who like Renewable Energy component in portfolio to show investors I. Fund ;)
The way I see this..... mms tried to drop to 1.5p range then saw no one selling, quickly bounce it to 3p......
then to 4p
in summary Mms failed miserably t
the this morning.

Ms Viking
I do not think BIG BUYERS will come yet. They will wait till little trader finish with action then start to move in.
Watch price action after next few day & upward price trend :)
Terrier, who are those "big player" ?
I haven't seen any big trades being reported yet (just the usual figures)
Mr Investor
Who know if you are right or not. Maybe yes about stop loss I think but I see like this.
I am investor. Unless investment change then why should my position change?
I will not sell so whatever MM want to do or not no concern. I look at growth of value. Now land access for Block XX given company have ALL pieces lining up.
Even one of BIGGEST energy growth sector.
Growth achieve through revenue / deferred payment / offtake partnership with DQE.
This will be MASSIVE growth in company & shareholder value.
What MM do or not do not big deal for investor like me BUT maybe I testing for traders mind.
I do not try to insult you or dismiss you with my comment
Happy with holding :)
The MMS should be investigated by the Fraud sqaud and Jailed the Lousey B--TARDS
Was surprised the lowest buy quote offered you was 3.42 since beginning. At 50 seconds into trading after 8am my first quote with Interactive Investor was 2p then quotes slightly above 2p after when I bought. Then it rose strongly. Interactive Investor confirmed a buy trade at 1.79p so someone was even more lucky than I was. I do not know why you could not get a quote lower than 3.42, may be your quote was a couple minutes into trading or your but Interactive Investor quoted me 2p then slightly above a minute into trading after which it rose strongly. I accept I was remarkably lucky with timing- such timing and dramatic rise in SP has never happened to me before and probably will not happen again but to suggest some people who claim to buy low and high are fakes because your lowest buy quote was higher is not really on. I cannot offer an explanation why your first or lowest quote was 3.42. All I know quotes to buy started below 2p with Interactive Investor (there was a buy trade at 1.79 showing) and my first quote to buy with Interactive was 2p, 50 seconds into trading then immediately after it started to rise when I bought. Then sold within half hour.
Marked right down to 1.8p at the open in outrageous manipulation - I hope people took my advice to watch out for their stops. The MMs have had a field day hoovering them up.
If you look at a bar chart you will see a typical huge spike down just before the price moves up, so as to shake out the weakholders and hit the stops. ' News' such as Velo being a duster today is the cover and the trigger used for these kinds of shenanigans.
There's no manipulation going on though according to some.....LOL.
This will start TRENDING UPWARDS and with larger buyers coming in to replace small traders we see at moment.
Thank God :)

If anyone want a professional report target (not BB chatter from anonymous experts) look at Progressive Report.
Some people say but company comission report. Still they have to use real metrics & INFORMED estimates for costs from company
WITHOUT V1 then we look just less then 28p at $70 bbl oil price (oil price projection higher).
MAJ, you are a proper tool! Im here with an investment just like everyone else, if you look over the last few weeks you will see that there is far more ramping from others than myself here.
How about you come up to Glasgow and we can have a chat personally if you have a problem with me you can say it to my face rather than over an online chat. Anyone can personally attack others via a keyboard.
I don't intend to respond as im here to make money and not disturb the board as you have clearly intended on.
