My commiserations too, what cr@p luck !
I also think the lockdown regime is darned stupid now we are largely vaccinated, if you look at how the US has recovered without needing a permanent wet nurse like the UK has inflicted on itself we could all be back in hospitality premises now, without tapping your presence everywhere on the nhs app.
We can only look forward to that golden day, it will surely come...
Sorry to hear Trent. This dammed lockdown is creating so many problems. Seems even 21st June is now uncertain.
Why the hell planes were allowed in from India a month and more ago, defies logic, now we are seeing the result
We were supposed to be going to the Midlands the weekend after next, but that's gone West.
Our youngest lad has copped for the old Kung Flu so we're all under house arrest for the next 8 days. We've had to re -book it for another time. Gutted.
I hope you're right SC
There is still some way to go yet but still.
Sadanby, it must be before your time, even when a div was payed and Mars was relegated from the FTSE 350 many Institutions who have a strict investment rule sold out.
Problem with these stocks hedge funds cannot invest in no dividends plus no profits so hold thigh we are going to be loaded
By association were Whitbread, Fullers, M&B and even today C&C ( Magners and Bulmers) negative when raising funds?
All of these sector competitors raised at a time when huge funds were/are available in the market. These companies have bolstered reserves. Fullers make no secret of their ambitons to build a prestigous Hotel Group. Whitbread raised last summer looking ahead to when the Pandemic ends and business returns to normal. Bulmers are raising £150 to reduce borrings and give headway going forwards.
I will not resile from earlier comments suggesting an RI which if thought about would give MARS a stronger balance sheet and in turn an earlier return to the dividend list. Is that not positive?
The company has seen comparable borrowings increase by £200m in the last 3 years. To half year just ended and compared with yr end (3rd Oct 20) similar borrowings decreased by £45m. This takes into account payment from Carlsberg of £239m. Can someone see where the other £194m has gone?
Personally, I think predicting a rights issue when the sp hit 50p is a negative view.
Einstein, do get medical help. You appear too have memory problems but now unable to read.
Suggest you read my posts where I positive views are written, for instance only recently, overlap of managers in Wales. That may be negative to the managers, I guess from your slanted angle increasing profitabilty by reducing costs is not positive.
How many lives have you gone through? A few months ago before your recent absence you claimed to have been some Assistant to a Financial Guru , may have been Warren Buffet, now appears all the time you were a Chief Aero Engineer under Frank Whittle.
Is your real name Walter Mitty?
Weather improving for the weekend -should help sales!
June here next week -Can't wait for the remaining pubs to re-open!
Supercharger.
I note your points. But the points have now been made. Most in here know the issues Marstons have. But come on now. You've made your opinions known. Move on.
You make me laugh. i.e. Potatoes under ground? When you actually do not have any "chips" on the table.
SuperDischarger please leave more comments on a regular basis, I have just planted 2 fields of spuds and going to watch them and see how intresting they are compared to your responses.
I am not negative in any way whatsoever on Mars its called business/investment due dilligince and your hot/cold blowing makes me think you're very blinkered when it comes to investment. Enjoy your afternoon nap and we'll see you when CBeebies comes on at tea time.
Why not! I was recently tried to give the 3 negative amigos alternative investment ideas, as they clearly need cheering up to come out from under their moaning cave, that's all. Everyday we get fed up of hearing their negative stories regarding Marstons and perhaps they should look for alternatives rather than trying to influence others that's all I am saying (between the lines).
All the shares I mentioned form a small part of my portfolio as it is never wise to put all ones eggs in one basket. However from working for 37 years tied to the Aviation Industry I felt that experience would help cheer one or two up with ideas. I am quite happy to hear from anyone else regarding alternatives that are pro-active. However generally I do not see that apart from one or two on here mostly new investors who have recently come o here and like me have a wider range of thoughts and humor. This is likely to benefit Marstons. So I will reverse what you have said Trent and say if anyone has anything worded negatively without a suggestion to make something positive then perhaps they should move on to another board as investors whether small or large would like to see the same proactive approach as this great Company has undertaken, not only to survive but to come out of the lockdown in a far better position that most if not all of its peers!
Well we are up & trading, sales as good as can be expected ( notice , no committment ) and the Brains "investment " will begin to be included ! Have an exposure here of 5000 shares @ 0.956 and will be looking for any retraces to average down. As previously stated am looking for around 1.10 within 3 months considering all the sporting events to come ! Sorry but I have no comment on RR, ENOUGH SAID.
Yes, I'm really looking forward to it. We usually see our friends that live there when we go over to Greece for our holidays, and we pop down to see them in Stour bridge from time to time, but because nobody could go anywhere last year, s haven't seen them for over a year. anywhere
We usually get one of those family & friends railcards at £30 a pop, but it saves us £58 on the train fare, so it pays for itself on one hit.
Really can't wait.
Trent
Very well said.
Now time to look forward to some glasses gold in the Midlands eh ?
I will raise a glass to you from my favourite purveyor of the good stuff Friday evening.
We all get that you're a bit of a fan of RR, and that's fair enough, but give it a rest, Eh?.
Those in here that may be interested in them enough to invest will do so. We don't need you or anyone else ramming them down our throats.
Speaking for myself, I am always interested in listening to other investment ideas, but like most here, when people like yourself continuously ramming a share to oblivion, makes me suspicious of your motives.
If you are genuine in your faith in them, then take enough, but you must see that you are doing both them and yourself no favours with your continuous ramping of them are you?
Just all shows what a limited mentality shorters have here. i.e. Where they investigate into the sales of aircraft so must feel it that important and then criticize, whilst failing to see that a customer can ask for specific jet engines when ordering their aircraft, failing to realize that what I said was RR service 80% of all aircraft engines that includes makes that they did not make as well. Because they are the no 1 service provider. This is one example of how the three shorts think they are clever but just do not have the experience necessary in life to further their investments. In other words do not have Pedigree, ha,ha. After all Marstons do not only sell their own beer do they? Maybe they feel that is all they do sell. Never mind the points raised have been missed again, but I am pleased they have the time to investigate and feed us back with their new found wisdom!
Teslatool
Just a few friendly points, firstly no one posting on Marsrons boards is really bothered with RR, if they were they would surely post on the RR board, unless they were laughing at your post of course.
You say France is putting kerbs on UK travellers. Wrong again, kerbs are put on the side of a pavement, curbs are what France is putting on UK travellers, so apart from frequently misquoting the number of pubs Marstons has, and chopping out your position in MARS at 50p then telling everyone you had made a fortune on it, you manage to confuse everything yet appear to consider yourself the worlds greatest living expert on the stock market.
Calm down dear, calm down.
Well let me tell you CFM and Pratt and Witney have in my opinion a far greater loss ratio than RR engines. They do not suffer with the same turbo stall or inflight turbo flutter causing vane damage. However RR also service their engines as well at their service centres all around the world at almost every major airport. Perhaps 80% of all commercial jet engines are serviced by RR. Just like Marstons they will benefit tremendously as lockdown ends.
For tonight I see France is also putting kerbs on UK travellers and so helping with Germany people to stay in the Uk and increase UK Beers sales. Thanks to them we will have a better year!
London like barchid I completely agree. Rewarding poor performance is crazy. Remuneration committees tend to be a joke as they engage in a "back-scratching" exercise.
London
I think that is a perfectly reasonable statement, sadly though some poster(s) here will dispute it, He (they) seem to think that selling off most of the brewery and becoming hoteliers is the way to go.
But He (they) are also people who think that selling out at 50p & then being a "strong buy" after a few months when they are north of 90p will go unnoticed.
A funny old world eh ?
Hi all,
I'm not a fan of renumeration for Directors which is not linked to share price or dividends because then there is little alignment with shareholders.
I'd be more than happy to pay them 10 times more if there was a better performance in the long-term share price.
Only my view of course.
I guess we'll have to wait till Teslatool has been called in for a de-brief personally from RF before we will know anything. Nice if you're on the recieving end of free shares, those people with Gratis shares just don't know the true value of them I guess.......
