A stock that is beating expectations
All quiet on the marston’s front. Appreciate the humility of your £18 profit admission Jimster. Made a couple of hundred in this range myself. 82 ~ 86 at the moment, but the covid stuff just won’t disappear. The lass who wrote the Times article believes much of the value is already priced in, so who knows what we can hope for over the rest of the year.
Good article in the Times today intimating company was correct not to accept 105 deal and Carlsberg deal was a good move, Hold recommendation. As you would expect, now 2.5 % down. Good job the article was complimentary
I've been scalping a wee little bit on the bottom here...but man it's tough
( my last was the princely sum £17.83 yesterday :)
looks like we are improving here finally
Good
Good
How is everyone coming along ?

Think this will go back to 1.20-30 soon enough, maybe next year/xmas time when more debt is repaid
FT says MARS is now above its 200 day moving average, for those of us who are chart followers, I am not really but do like to keep an eye on what they say, as it can have a price influence.
I made an excellent return on an investment by selling fortuitously just before the initial lockdown and then again by buying back in at a sub 40p price a while ago.
I supported my local throughout the last year by using their takeaway service and some of the profits made to pay for 5 takeaways a week and I was gratified to be told on Sunday when eating there at lunchtime with my family that they were having to do two sittings as they were totally booked solid.
Hopefully this will continue throughout the estate as the pubs have had a really rough time.
It shouldn't harm the sp either.
@Barchid Sounds good mate. Hope you had a good time.
Marston's moving up good, but also watch Rolls Royce as I said before when it fell on death ears. Now in profit for the 1st Half by a Billion Squids. However good to see most of mine are up today - life is good!
Whitbread up, Compass too. I can now even afford to full up the Silver Spur with fuel, ha.ha and leave the Tesler on the grid! Ha.ha.
Trent
Good to hear from you and also that things went well in Midlands.
I was in a riverside pub, one of my favourites, for lunch today, pre pandemic it was heaving at lunchtimes, half full today.
My guess is people are still adjusting to the lifting of restrictions, it may take a few months before normality really returns.
Not been on much of late, but thought I'd check in to see how we all are. Our pan lids have been off school, you know how it is.
Also we've had a weekend away in the Midlands too which went rather well. Our favourite Marstons pub was not as busy as we usually see it, which was rather odd considering the nice weather. I'd say it was at half capacity at best, but then, the Premier Inn we go to seemed quieter than usual as well. The tea time trade on the Saturday there seemed fairly quiet too.
That said, I hope we are all holding up well. Even you, Supercharger.
Not been
People read the last RNS Marstons beating expectations
Sadanby
I fear you are correct, for sure, whenever he gives us the benefit of his vast knowledge, the chance that he might be right is about as rare as rocking horse manure, and that is pretty rare.....
Supercharger must have had a flat battery
Barley prices will not be affected by any means unless total depletion of UK stocks and we are not there just yet. Barley is still trading at good price and holding its own. What we are lacking is the mode of transport, last week I saw 3 days of missed transport due to haulage issues and if you're a diary farmer where do you think all that goes if not collected, there is only so much local communities will take for free (donations) the rest still has to be collected to be disposed of.
If the local farms you speak of have had major issues then drainage is a key factor and their drain profiling needs more attention, perhaps you could drive your Tesla and let the weight of your humour create some nice trenches for them. Win - WIn in many ways SuperDischarger
Quite right Sadanby, also Lincolnshire and Hampshire, some of the grain growing areas of the Country. Afraid our battery-man knows about as much about malting barleys as a Eunuck in a brothel. His opinion should give his game away!!!
The crops looked good in Yorkshire as I drove through I would like to know why the sp does not go up that much
Our local Farms have suffered tremendously with crop losses due to the sudden recent rain storms which could affect our Barley prices. I expect the same for European crops too.
We have as you have said (Including Hobgoblin) a few Gold medals of our own in the range from Marstons.
i disagree with Marston’s comment re all pubs being open from 17May. It may be a small point but i’m aware That some never opened on this date . infact not for at least a week. RF you need to give accurate info and not lies.
sorry about the double up message
A bug in the site software of some kind
I have developed a taste for Marstons Hobgoblin Ruby
In Adsa the other day a couple were discussing it asking if the Ruby is a Fruit drink ?
I ended up doing an in-store promotion for the general public and generated quite a crowd...my wife went and hid in the wine isle
What other brand generates free crowd marketing promotions like that eh ?
Whats not to like
The Original Tinster

Many in lockdown have kept going on this stuff! Classic ales box's, Pedigree cases, even the Tesla of Beers a Low carb one - quite new. Worth a look if the local has sold out - but as you say most in Marstons are very switched on and innovative. Many other brewers have not been so lucky and the business is there for the taking.
I would not worry too much about the idiot in the uk always moaning - makes me laugh anyway!
Agreed soon over £1 a share plus!.
The amigos will love it!! I think not!
- more dooms view comments coming from behind the sofa where you are. Soon they will realize we all look forward and not back.
Results better than expected. see link (doomsters need not apply) encouraging :-
