Surprised to see this dropping given the positive update yesterday.
Any thoughts on what's dragging this down
It seems the so call hedge fund managers just sat their looking at the money they have on the balance sheet making nothing poor
As stated before shorts will now be considering there positions as of today . Also don’t let’s negate the statement regarding interest rate movements short term reference the current balance sheet . Seems to me all factors previously of concern prior to today’s statement are covered by the senior management . Christmas will soon be upon all before we know it thus boosting the balance sheet further . On a final point regarding Brains , weather you agree or not with the deal it’s stated by the board as exceeding expectations , I for one can live with that ! Good luck to all .
Yes I think the RNS was good with NO shocks in it and as they said also going to plan it that it is also a pre close year end statement.
I think many sold out over the last 1-2 weeks expecting some bad news, so I guess many will now buy back in expecting this to go to £1 within the next few months.
At least now we can relax and not worry about it getting better although it might take a few weeks.
What, this is the first comment on the update? Sales 2% ahead compared to 2019, continuing to reduce debt, controlling costs - "The majority of our 2022 costs are now contracted in, specifically gas to 2023 and electricity to the end of March 2022" - so why aren't we up 5% or more? 2 reasons - the shorts aren't closing yet, probably because the short termers are selling out for half a penny profit. But I expect them to mange their position towards closure as there's no bad news here. So I think we will continue to rise over the next 2 weeks. Look out for revised broker targets which on average are already around the £1 level. No word on the dividend, but then this was a trading update. We could yet see that with results.
It's been well known now for 10 years that there is enough gas in the north see to cover almost all the uk needs but the government and industry want short term fixes and no one is willing to invest for the long term but prefer to buy in cheap now from Europe. To where we are now Gas from Russia or EU electric from france , govenment didn't want the cost of building More Nuke Power stations but tried to get China and France to cover the cost. Government and industry only hold / held about 5% of gas needed for the uk while EU holds about 19%. we don't want to use coal or gas for power stations even though we have plenty , it just doesn't look good or set a good example. Let's charge everyone a levy on their bills to go green just because a few do gooders can't live with the thought that the whole world has benefited and developed and grown for 100 years be doing just that. My grand parents never worried about us and people will find a way to live to a better / higher standard by using all coal / gas / sola etc etc if they want to.
If we all go green with electric cars how will the power stations have enough power to make it work. When we all go green the government will be what about £6bn pounds short of tax from car tax , so everyone will have to pay to use the roads, No gas c/heating and all on Heat pumps but the cost of running heat pumps is far too high and you can only get about 15 degrees from the ground and not enough to heat your house. Still so many questions.
Apologies for off topic.
Last week on CNBC the National Grid reckoned there was enough gas to see us through winter but electricity was tight. How on earth is enough electricity going to be generated over the next couple of years with millions more EV's on the road. On the same programme it was suggested that the government would have to re-think it's stance on coal. GLA
Yes it's all wrong when we are forced to do things that the government think is best for us at the time when these ideas are always put forward by so called think tanks or lobby people , all for money.
It wasn't that long ago that the governments all said GO diesel, now after killing god knows how many people it's all change to electric or go green.
But like everything we could all go green tomorrow but it would mean many / most of us would all lose our jobs, it's all about balance. It just goes to show how little all parties have thought this through. Do away with petrol and gas , I think the last few weeks has just shown everyone the world is just not ready to do away with iether if we want to live our lives in a normal way. China / Russia , India will have a great life with much cheaper overheads while the uk cuts all it's workforce pays 4 times the cost for gas and electric while evryone is un-employed at home. Funny old times.
Good advice. I just had to sell my diesel car (London based) that was pushed by the govt 10years ago, for a hybrid. I’m sure in 10 years time they’ll find another reason to make me sell it…
They are just words but could be put out by any party , so don't take notice of it at all . I am also trying to build my life better and the art is to just do what you want knowing no matter what you say and do will not make the slightest bit of difference to anyone else.
I always start to feel sad for anyone who thinks big brother is trying to control us all. It's just not true.
In a few months / years there will be another crisis and the government in power will try to stop us all going on to electric because there won't be enough power to go round and everything will cost twice the price as today. The world will be getting colder and we will have to start using more gas to stop us going into another ice age. It's just life.
Definitely not a labour voter, I'm a disillusioned conservative voter and regards fundamental change, Johnson is just one of many world leaders pushing the world economic Forum's Great Reset agenda the tagline being "build back better" Google it, it's not hard to find.
So some people do have some very funny ideas don't they, What's all this trying to usher in huge fundamental changes to how we live our lives.
Is it maybe that the normal people are just playing things a little safer at the moment and will get back to normal in full in a few months.
Why is it that some people always think there is an under the table p[lan being driven by the government. Can you please tell us all what the government is trying to do. !!!!!!
Are you just negative on everything, a labour supporter, a non voter anyway regardless of party, or what?
Johnson needs to stop spouting all this "build back better" crap and get the country back to 100% normality. We're not seeing the recovery we should be seeing - and it's mainly because this government is trying to usher in huge fundamental changes to how we live our lives, unwelcome changes that nobody asked for and nobody wants.
So just where are we heading with this, many including me topped up at 74p and OK i could have saved a few hundred pounds but anywhere between 70p -74p is a good price.
I guess many are waiting for the trading up-date this week and it will iether shoot back up to 80p or sink a little to 65p, but long term still a very good buy and might even be worth topping up more now while it's so low.
I sold out earlier this year at 96p.. thank goodness.
I fear the SP is heading into the 60's as the prospects for all Pubs don't look good.
I totally agree with you good luck on the RNS tomorrow
Well i agreed i just invested dividend s money i had last week in marston s done my research i think its a bargain at 71p
I agree 100% i had dividend money to invest iv just put it in marston s done my research looks a bargain at 71p
You know this company so well, how many Pubs do Marstons own? What is the total Net Debt? Who is the CEO?
The answers will show who the Barrow-boy is.
Another 1 line Merchant all wind and no substance..
You fool at this price you are loosing money this barrow boys sold down the road
Sadanby, Please tell us the facts that are wrong?
Please tell us Brains are not selling THEIR Pubs?.
Please tell us you are a Long Term Holder who has owned shares for at least 2 years?
Please tell us the Trading report will be so magnificent the SP will Rocket?
Please tell us you have removed your Rose Tinted Specs.
Dear Barrow Boys, you picked me up at 75p, threw me in with the spuds and carrots and proceeded to aim in the wrong direction! Please turn around at once, ignoring all talk of inflation, lost consumer confidence, corona and iffy deals with welsh pub groups and take me back to where you found me. I promise to never trouble you again, your humble servant The Kat.
I see the barrow boys still on this stock telling lies to get to sell stock hold and we will be well rewarded
" Marston to put 90 Brains Pubs up for sale."
KCE32, as the master of 1/2 liners surprised you have not been able to provide your vision of events now and in the future.
Of course as the Saturday post above shows you believe Marstons own property of which Brains have the Freehold Title.
You live in South Wales and don't know the Local News accurately, it is understandable you do not know where BARKING is located.
Hope the headache improves soon.
KCE, with respect lets have your take on the current situation?
