Dark Arches -I felt conversation should be encouraged. If new contributors come on board then surely that should be welcomed. Non one should be able to control the conversation if it does not suit them - just offer counter conversation if you disagree.
The Chancellor only 5 mins ago said his budget was designed to give people confidence well I must say he did that for Hospitality and for the Uk encouraging Internal flights and hospitality. The UK is now the fastest growing economy in Europe!
Rishi -Made headlines yesterday in large print giving positive direction to hospitality which Analysts/Accountants/Banks will work with. Sentiment improved for this sector which was the reason for the share rise yesterday of over 6% and early rise this morning. Profit takers moved in but I am sure the path is now upward and lets face it the future is now better post budget than it was before!
Forgive me if you are genuine. It just seems to be that a lot of first time posters seem to spontaneously appear on this board to agree with a Supercharger post.
Nothing imaginary about me....
Had an account for donkey's years, but only use the resources rather post about blah.
Traded MARS for all that time - only posted today as I could see what was coming and had an inkling the budget could be a catalyst.
As always.
DYOR
Really like the 50% Business rate cut for HOSPITALITY too!!
This for certainly help Marstons more than most to drive in a higher profit margin and with a turbo boost with expected increased sales of pints compared to spirits that are to be liable for increased levies. "Off sales" will increase too to add to the recent positive Company release!.
looks very good for them, considering they got through the worst and have set the company for profit, the assistance from the government is going to give this share massive support.
Rishi mentioned help to brewers as well as hospitality just the injection this industry needed. Should help off sales too with lower tax on lower alcohol drinks to encourage Beer sales over spirits. Should see an uptick here I am sure, as well as Whitbread I suppose.
Review of beer duty - less duty - didn’t see this coming. The buyers will be back soon. Take care all.
Strange how these brand new accounts often show up to reply to Supercharger......imaginary friends ?
Whoosh!
I can hear some squeaking....is that the wheel on the barrow or the barrow boys pips?
The squeeze is getting tougher.....expect some more upside on good news and some forced position closing.
"Probably" -nice little tickle up today for "the best bitter in the World!"
Suspect the return to form on the back of general pub sector results/upside i.e. Whitbread could be the reason for the upward sentiment. Lets hope we continue but perhaps the Chancellor who enjoys a pint will help further tomorrow when he opens his leather brief case!!
Granted as live in Devon anyway . Now spats aside assuming no person’s on this site have shorts in the company the share price is very low and we are aware for the reasons why , just look at the current news . People who invest in a company should in my view look at the fundamentals at the management as well as the balance sheet . The JV between the two companies has not being given chance as of yet to play out reference time and market conditions , I do however reiterate my view in previous comments that the company has a target on its back while the share price is on the defensive .
I'm up for that, but please, not in Scotland !
Love it , let’s all meet up and have lunch together to reconcile our differences . Still got some cake left for all , minus what the good lady scoffs tonight . Carlsberg full control of the company in the near future , maybe , thoughts !!!
fd
It is indeed peculiar why the "ramper trolls" are so prevalent on this board, it is also peculiar how bitter they appear to be when shown up for what they try (rather ineptly) to do.
One rather gets the feeling that the Big Daddy troll pulls their strings.
Whatever, it is of no relevance as whatever the latest pontification may be it is a pretty safe bet to go against it.
Maybe lockdown did cause the keyboard warriors to think they are all Gordon Gekko's ?
In poor old Jed's case, if he saw a rerun of Gekko saying "if you want a friend buy a dog", he'd probably report him to the RSPCA.
In Jimster's case, when not being "sin-binned" from trading by she who must be obeyed he comes here to be patronised, but isn't that what pubs want these days, more patrons ?
For me, I'm a wimp, I enjoy lunch, hence my interest in MARS
Take it that’s a no to a slice of cake . Can’t we be friends again , it’s really dark in here !!!
Mmm, Jed your pity would be better directed towards those Keyboard warriors , who if your diagnosis is correct, require Medical help for the psychosis that gives them pleasure to inflict harm on others. What miserable and uneventful lives they must have in the Dark World they inhabit.
Even though ridicule and banter occurs, these boards are intended to allow exchange of ideas, knowledge and opinions. Opinions that are often disagreed. That is fair enough and a sign of healthy debate. At the end of it, each individual are responsible for their actions.
To use these boards as a Pleasure Park undermines their purpose of informed debate.
Judging by the calls I recieve, Social media sites, including these Financial Boards, do have an impact on unkoweledgeable, wet behind the ears, novice investors. Your statement may be true for those of us who know better, but there are some semi-numerate individuals who are easily influenced.
I suggest It is the Trolls who need to get real.
Just as well my background is not fully known otherwise opinions would be very different.
Have a good day and as always DYOR.
Golly gosh , Give a migraine a headache springs to mind ! It’s Saturday . Anyway off to bake a cake then down the boozer for a couple . Any chance someone can lend us a tenner as could not make the share price increase on Friday ! Glad too share my cake with all fellow traders . Stay well & keep safe .
so agree with you Jed
I just come on here to be patronised :)
The Jimster
In all honesty I feel sorry for both of you guys if you think anything said on thse boards makes anyone buy or sell in a particular company , or helps the SP up or down.
We all know that most posters just come on these boards for a bit of light banta / fun and games to pass the day, and get some common feelings with others that have invested in the same shares. Get real.
Since 1st Lockdown these boards have been infested with novice traders who would be more successful if they did better homework. The older and wiser Traders act a little more subtly, they still suck the apprentice investors in though with their crafty dialogue.
Reminds me of a guy on another board some time ago, he was convinced he was on a multi bagger and was proud to announce having invested all the Holiday money. The company was Carillion and the guy did not know how to tell his wife as in his words , she would kill him. Have 'nt seen him on these boards since!
Us Sassenachs know nothing??
A quiet week this week for the Mars board, surprising isn't it that after a "down" week all the rampers appear loath to make their Mystic Meg like predictions ?
This time last week we had a MM predicting the SP would be 82p by end of business today when they were about 77p.
Now they are about 9p under that MM prediction I feel sincerely sorry for anyone who bit on that hook Monday morning !
Perhaps these rampers could pay more attention to Dear Deirdre, she appears to be kinder on the wallet ?
@ Staycool. Thanks mate. I missed that one.
Market
I actually admire them for being tight fisted, please read it as a comliment...
