Had an overnight stay in Bala, Wales recently and speaking to the locals it seems Marstons are closing down their establishment on the high street.
Probably a good move as they also have a Brains establishment on the same high street which is also a hotel offering very good food.
A takeover bid could arise any time soon , nett assets way above share price .Someone will be looking at this with interest in brewery and estate . Some pubs on very valuable land sites.
It takes 2 to 3 weeks to brew and condition a beer like pedigree. How can their demand signal to pump management be so bad that pubs have no beer for weeks.
I am not a true ale person myself SHAPERITE but I know what you mean about the Park Gate Inn. I have used it a few times yet have had to have bottled beers so go there rarely now.
The little Ale House has a good choice of ales in Bromsgrove. Terry will look after you but he doesn't have any Bathams as the waiting list to get it is about 20 years and even then you have to wait for someone to leave or fold.
Since then we have had a hot summer so perhaps that's partly the reason for some pubs running dry? last statement from Marstons included "Encouragingly, total retail sales in the Group’s managed and franchise pubs returned to FY2019
levels in the period. Drinks sales have continued to outperform food sales, once again reinforcing
the steadfast trading resilience of Marston’s predominantly community pub estate. " Could be a good time to buy as reported.

Park Gate, Kidderminster Road, For three succesive weeks Pedigree taps are dry !!! A n alien concoction called Wainwrights
is available, How can Marstons premium ale be unavailable in a Marstons house for at least three weeks ? The garbage that
is proffered by the company totally explains the collapse in the share price, as the effort put in by the B.O.D. is boardering upon incompetance - Bathams for me in future !!!!!
All meant in good taste! Suggest Elizabet ( a mature long lasting beer that was silently powerful) and King Charles ( a new found organic beer that has risen to fame) which hopefully will be with us for some time.
Given yesterday's tragic news of the passing of HMTQ. A sad day for all of us. I hope we are all muddling through as best we can.
For once, in a long time, I feel a bit better now with MARS. Having gone horribly over exposed at the end last month in a fit of pique, I have taken the some of the short term gains on my 36p and 37p buys and reverted to my long term core holding plus about 40%. More importantly my carrying price is now back in the black today...hurrah.
I only see upside from here in the medium term - bumps along the way I am sure. As always DYOR.
Glad to see this green again today and hopefully we have seen the bottom and heading back into the 50s.
Suppose now we move on and look forward to the Liz -vat cut too? So hopefully all will help longer term if not for the immediate future where people have more money in their winter pockets to buy extra pints of winter warmer!
Had the same experience when the Privilege card was in use. From memory the discount only applied to food. Tenanted pubs seemed to apply the discount if they had signed up to the scheme.
oh that's unfortunate. The terms and conditions do say that the vouchers are only redeemable at M's managed sites. To see where you can use the vouchers go to www.marstonspubs.co.uk/pubs/finder - look for the pubs marked with a red dot showing the words SV. If the pub you visited is so listed maybe the Manager has got it wrong.
I tried to use a voucher at a Marstons pub but was told I couldn't. The manager said the pub needs to be owned by Marstons and not managed or something.
they got sent to me. Its a book of 12 such vouchers that have to be used by 31 January 2023. I think they replaced the reward card that MARS used to issue to qualifying shareholders. I am not sure if the book of vouchers was sent to me by MARS or by my broker as my investments are held in nominee account
How do you get these vouchers?
Just been in my local Marstons pub to take advantage of one of my 30% off vouchers. Two main courses (menu price just below £10) medium glass of wine and a pint of Bitter - £20 with the voucher - not much margin there as I reckon they must have wrongly applied the 30% to the drinks as well as the food. Its a big place but custom not bad for a Tuesday lunchtime given school hols just finished
Got the 15% I was looking for. This should go further, but for now....
Card factory is another share with a similar technical setup, in fact lots of small caps in the UK could do well from any half-decent plan from Truss
Now well above my purchase of a couple of weeks ago - fingers crossed for a continuation
Help work rest and play!
Looks like Liz Truss has Pedigree too! Fingers crossed she will help businesses too with the rising energy costs, as well as home owners who may prefer to turn their own heating low and go down the pub to use theirs!
40p Incoming GLA.
CFO buying is a big vote of confidence however the shorters will be out if the market drops Monday so could be another buying in opportunity .
Someone said the market looks long term. What a load of rubbish. The market has a knee reaction to any news or fake news. Take a look at cineword. Unsubstantiated rumours of bankruptcy down to 1.8p & then up 6p Friday. Rockhopper doubles in a day !!
The market looks long term?
Marstons are doing all the right things.
Pay your money & take your chance or more like do your homework & ignore the fake news.
Or Liz Trust -is putting some 50p's in the meter whilst also lowering VAT and energy bills to be capped for small businesses? To be honest as everyone has said on here sale over done and someone sees this as a buying opportunity.
Big vote of confidence here from the CFO. If the CFO is happy to buy at this level, and let's face it, nobody knows about the finances of Marston's better than the CFO, then i think things may have already bottomed out and on their way back to an even keel. Not saying it's boom time... just that we've probably bottomed out now.
