Wow now that was a weak attempt at a de-ramp. MMs bringing up SP to 50 for a placing haha come on, you can do better than that. Perhaps marston's brokers are working hard for JDW, MARS, RTN to drive their prices up too? Or perhaps this is a sector re-rate that has been heavily oversold?
Far too many armchair weirdos trawling these boards p1551ng on others parades. There is always one on every share board; some disgruntled ex-employee, got savagely burnt in the past, lost tons of money on the stock before ect. So what exactly is your beef with MARS? You seem to trash anyone else who has a positive outlook like you did KahunaJim who posted useful stuff. You seem to scramble to counter if anyone says anything positive.....just like you did on JV news desperately trying to rubbish it. You don't gain anything so why bother?
Why don't you short if you are that sure? Or am i right in saying you are another armchair troll?
Hopefully now we will go back up to £1 a share by year end. Carlsberg deal expected to be signed up soon..
I feel they should prescribe Pedigree on the NHS - no problems here in our home whilst on our medicinal Beer!!
No wonder the govt. are trying to convert people over by offering to pay 50% towards your meal at the same time of drinking a couple of pints!! Marstons must have seen take up in the offer as they were one of the first to register.
can't believe we're back in the 50s...!
I'm at break even here, hoping to sell at high 50s towards end of week.
I would say have a few pints is good enough. So far so good for my own home trials. Although my wife has said when I send her out down pit that she cannot always get Marstons beers in the shops - as it is sold out. So maybe others are also aware of my miracle cure!! Either way what with the Govt, incentives to go and have a meal and a few beers (unheard of prior to Pandemic) then at least we have support. Perhaps I see a new beer coming out called "Pandemic" which could be full strength or even low alcohol with less tax for long term slimmers!!!!
Russia you say, hmmm... hopefully we’ve learnt to be more self reliant from this fiasco.
When you say quite remarkable, I'm reading that as 'dodgy'. Even with the urgency involved there is no way they can have properly tested it to satisfy European or USA regulators in the timescale they claim. Until it's proven to work I doubt it will be used in developed countries and I can't see people queuing at the Russian Embassy for a dose....
How a vaccine is developed in 2 months is quite remarkable, our scientists are sceptical, but you Supercharger can have my Russian dose for free.
As for todays rise, no doubt down to the weather. As stated earlier Brokers will be looking to get the SP above 50p to make a Funding raise attractive.
Russia will make a Covid19 vaccine all tested and proven they say at a factory they have in Brazil. They also say 10 other Countries have ordered it already.
This will make sure we have something soon either from them or from one of the other Western Comps in final tests who clearly need to hurry up to produce. Perhaps this is another reason for the market pick up today?
Diners used the "eat out to help out" scheme more than 10.5 million times in its first week,
Barchid, I know London Docklands extremely well and you raise an important point - normally many thousands of office workers would spend spend spend on after work drinks/food, they are now WFH and must be spending there to some extent. As Marstons had no presence in Canary Wharf, this is all to their benefit.
@peltata
I'm in London Docklands and pubs here are much busier than I first feared, of course weather is a big factor. The killer though is with so many still home working that Canary Wharf restaurants/bars which should be packed solid are not and the area resembles a bit of a ghost town. There are signs of it picking up but with a Mayor who has mismanaged transport here so badly that is another factor holding things back.
I was on the Kent coast at weekend & you could not get near a hostelry, hopefully the same trends are developing in Marstons country, as London/South East their estate is quite sparse. Chairman of Youngs reported a similar pattern last week too.
I’m away for a few days around Rye. Finding a surprising number of pubs/restaurants not doing the eat out to help out because they feared they would be too busy, and I’m inclined to agree!
No table for an hour so had a nice stroll along the front, now at the bar queuing patiently. Good atmosphere, great selection of beers. Stormy weather ahead but life is good tonight. GLA
Reading some of your posting history, your posts are a " load of the brown smelly stinky stuff
So stop trying to make out you have inside information when nobody tells you nothing, neither do you know anyone who knows anything.
Not even the government knows whether there will be a " trade off" between pubs and schools.
@daave To be fair with weather like it is at present we should be expecting record sales. I know it doesn't follow that we'll get them anyway, post covid, but if we were not seeing big sales now the question of pubs existence would surely be raised ? As it is your news is encouraging as it surely shows that people have missed the pub trips in the last few months & are hopefully getting back into the habit again.
@fairdealer Good stuff, setting the record straight there, mind you if our pubs had given birth after lockdown to create 800 more, then I guess our debt would have done the same to our balance sheet !
I own a pub and I know several people who also own pubs, all are reporting near pre-covid sales, eat out scheme is creating an increase in food and soft drink sales of up to 500% increase - but usual Monday Tuesday sales are so low it makes that sound good even if it isn’t!
Draught sales in my pub are UP compared to pre-covid.
Talking to my friendly landlord he is sure pubs will be closed before schools open and that’s coming from head office grr ffs

Wow Pinochio our 1400 pubs have grown!
Dalesflyer -could be because the Weatherspoons drinkers are on shorts? i.e. they want to see the Marstons price go down to buy some more?
I heard last week actually from one contact I have that across all 2,000 Marstons Pubs, the brewery have had trouble keeping up with demand last week and there may have unfortunately been some Beer shortages. This will help the Marstons price in fact rise. on overall sales
called in thirsk all last week, wheatherspoons queueing down street, marstons pub opposite 3in.
Great idea, suggest you ask them and share with the board. I’ll get to work on my next post now.
Jim it is important that facts are confirmed and qualified against known comparitiors. For your source to say pre-covid could mean anytime at all before March, hence a comparable time period should be used.
It would be good if Marstons can give us some data on sales, wholesale and retail, for the period since Pubs re-opened.
I think the point is the recovery is way ahead of where industry experts were forecasting and there is robust demand for UK beer sales.
It will be very disappointing if food led pubs are quiet on a Monday night this August and even more so in this spell of good weather in the south. However that wasn't my experience last week on my first week of staycation in Brighton so I doubt there will be any change next week. Despite this anecdotal ramble, my original post was factual and intended to be helpful. Feel free to ignore it if you believe it is too ambiguous. GLA
