Investors should keep an open mind, share buybacks can be used counterproductive by many companies at the expense of its shareholders.
They also have the potential to be a potent tool for value creation when used wisely and more importantly at the right time.
For millions of people in the UK, now is the time to turn to God and pray over their deteriorating financial situation.
I just happy to finally seeing the share count fall here
42p cheap as they come, under 60p its a no brainer for UKs Number 1 Bank
Interest rate rises = bigger Interest commission
Less shares = bigger dividend pot in future years for shareholders
Less shares = a increase in NAV value s AKA increase in share price in the future
Lets not remember the last 30 months we been in a Bear Market ( worst in 40 years )
If you not taking a good healthy position now you never will , and just wait for the next Bull Run on stocks and shares
and shout BINGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
also - similar profitability on reducing share counts means profitability per share increases
also 42p purchases now gives a higher percentage ownership of Lloyds against the same number of 67p purchases in Feb 2018
snige
''I think you have forgotten the effects of inflation.''
Try to THINK.
It works both ways. Taking account of inflation a purchase price of 42p now is an even better value price as against 67p in Feb 2018 with similar profitability - we will know 2022 year profits in Feb next year.
lti,
"8th Feb 2018 - market cap £48.3 Billion - underlying profit £7.5 Billion
30th June 2022 -market cap £29 Billion - underlying profit £7.5 Billion ???"
I think you have forgotten the effects of inflation. To stand still in a rising housing market and CPI up 15% the underlying profit after 4 years should be at the bare minimum £8.5 Billion, the markets must feel Lloyds has failed to achieve.
Would add it's not all Lloyds fault,in any normal housing market the rise in property prices would have attracted more house building and more potential customers for the bank yet house starts are still running at 2019 rates.
28th Feb 2018 72,086,432,586 shares - price 67p
30th June 2022 69,042,821,945 shares - price 42p
28th Feb 2018 - market cap £48.3 Billion - underlying profit £7.5 Billion
30th June 2022 -market cap £29 Billion - underlying profit £7.5 Billion ???

"Try PPI, rock bottom interest rates, Covid bad loans and a probable impending recession for the plight of the share price."
Also inherited HBOS issues.....Reading, and David Laity allegations fraud allegations at Bristol.
Livestock,
Lloyds being down 37% is nothing to do with buybacks.
You are barking up the wrong tree and should know better fella by now. You've been around here long enough.
Try PPI, rock bottom interest rates, Covid bad loans and a probable impending recession for the plight of the share price.
Thanks Asperger1 for this :-)
Very interesting

Don't we know hey , Me like , many Lloyds investors are hoping the Buy Back can have a positive medium term up tick on the share price . as Lloyds share count is certainty dropping now big time. and we still are paying a fair Dividend IMHO.
Last time, I was share locked on Lloyd's shares was from May 2009 to May 2013, when finally the Lloy share started hitting the 70s and even moved above 80 penny's range, and we had a lot more shares in them days in circulation and still had no dividend payments ( Blimey how did I cope ) due to the balance sheet re-construction due buying HBOS at high prices.
Last time it took 4 years to breakeven ( 2009 to 2013)
This time
December 2019 to ???????

As I have said at every buy back. "Told you so"

Incorrect. Progressive means from point of reference of when announced of rebased dividend. So progressive from 2p.
Progressive when you start at zero - any one can do that !
