the hmrc think so much they trip themselves up ,i was investigated it dragged on for 18 months ,and when we actually sat down with my accountant and them ,all they could come up with was why for the last 18 months prior to i had spent £100 plus at tescos but since i had spent nil ,infact [he said with a huge smile] you have deposited £100 thats £200 a week how can you explain that?banging his fist ,simple i said my wife got a job earning £200 a week and handed him a few of her pay slips , with that he disbelived that a modern woman would use her money to do that folded his notes and left . 18 months of worrying and not even sorry just a letter saying basically case closed

I still pay national insurance , and moraly i should cos i cost the health service a few Bob.
Strange that HMRC know everything about you apart from when you are due tax rebate?
In the 70s I obtained a licence to drive a taxi as an insurance against unemployment, but never used it. Inland Revenue, as it was then, accused me of concealing SE earnings from taxi fares. They know lots about you.

On the tax /dole and alike asking you questions, they want you to catch you out incriminating yourself, I know from experience that they know everything about my finances.
Brixton
I am surprised they did not charge you interest on the over payments.
I have some personal stories about our generous governments and their none generosity to those whom have worked all their lives and paid into the system.
I'm surprised SP recovered todays early loss to finish flat given the DOW is currently down -637 pts? Tomorrows probably a different story though lol.
VB
Did a google on the Last Enemy and it looks worth watching. Can't however find any box sets available on Blu Ray, available on DVD from Amazon so maybe go for that.
"No-one knows how much trouble the new variant is going to cause"

self employed could take

PPI
Market cap of £70bn equates to a SP of 97p. That's a few years away but nice if it gets there eventually.
As Lloyds is a bit flat quick story, in Sept 2006 i had a heart attack and another in November 2006 so i claimed statuary sick pay for 4 months before returning to work self employed . £59 a week i got and i said going back to work now thanks and they said they had over paid me £2 a week should of been £57 and they took it back LOL .
Hard up
Go watch
The last enemy
Cracking series
Benny Cumberbatch is in it
That’s all the computers talking to each other
Interest rates are at 0.1% and Lloyds had a market cap of £35,424bn your expecting a big jump in rates to get back to £70bn plus, cant see it myself
you are correct brixton ,ppi was not for selfemployed ,in fact imo it was only the se that were mis sold as they couldnt claim ,so all the rest of the 9 years of compo was just qe and the bod fell for it ,most peeps knew they were taking it out and not missold ,mate of mine lost his job claimed on the ppi got paid for loss of earnings and still at the dead line put a claim in for compo and got it
Markets hate uncertainty, and this is precisely what we have now. No-one knows how much trouble the new variant is going to cause, and so it seems plausible that we will see heightened volatility on the markets until there is adequate data to better understand the lay of the land
i know the feeling mate , lol
Falls on its arse overnight and takes days to recover...like an old man with a hangover!!
George Orwells 1984 lol

No need to ask they already know and now there is no way of evading the system, DWP HRMC and your Council Housing Benefits Department all now share the same computer data systems, any savings or investments you hold will be automatically flagged up and shared between the Departments.
