You are correct there is no way that this country would ever have a nation sovereign fund every party in this country would use it to pay for their own party agenda. Could you or anyone else see any politician here letting billions build up in the kitty?

I got out of RR a couple of weeks back, and the words from our distinguished leader about grabbing the opportunity to solve our energy problems were as usual just words. He would ditch any British company as fast as he ditched his American citizenship to save himself some money.

Your post of 12.18 hit the nail on the head.

No i didn't see the vikings losing wonga , they can afford it . I just see 2 Afghans on TV with 12 kids all in 4 star hotels . There is no hope for us having a sovereign wealth fund ever .
Share buyback programme appears to be back on track again. Lots of opportunities out there, and still time for Lloyds to make a significant bolt - on acquisition before the end of the current financial year.
Can anyone remember who it was who bet me a £10 charity wager that the buyback pot would not be used up by the year end ? It looks like that thread went into Room 101 as I can't see the conversation in my posting history.
I bought RR at 92p . That was a moment of stupidity, no divi either , plenty of debt . Had in mind small modular reactors, lots of nuclear government contracts, and more flying hours "engine maintenance " post covid . Sit tight no need to sell . Thus far i called it wrong. One has to have a good memory to tell porkies and that is prevalent on lloy chat. Truth is much more fun and inclusive.
If one is posting on a Friday night down the pub , what's the point of Billy no mates being in the pub ? None . More bull5hit
Hardup,
I agree, I bought back in with the reinstatement of the dividends and it has been one bad news event after another.
I have a half decent holding which I have no intention of selling, my position was bought mainly to give me an income, but I stopped adding because there have been better options out there.

To be fair it seems that the share was held back most of that time by events such as ongoing fallout from Financial crisis, PPI mis-selling, Brexit, Reading scandal, COVID, Russia invasion of Ukraine. And now if you listen to BOE a looming recession. As with the title and lyrics of a certain hit in 1993 for Irish band D:Ream................... Things can only get better! We hope!

Lti,
If Suf's been trading then fair enough, but life's to short to check his history and the way the threads been written he sounded like a long term holder who's only added.
Yes I was wrong on the dividends, I hadn't checked the actual period before responding, but the history isn't great.
The FACT remains you could have bought numerous other shares and had much better returns.
Thanks longtimeinvestor for clarifying
Yes if I got the opportunity I have traded Lloyds in the past :-)
I really should not post on Friday nights down the Pub
Hahahahahaha

''Unless you bought at the 2009 lows you've lost money and spent about 8 years with no dividends.''
5 whole years since 2009 without a dividend.
SUF has been in and out of Lloyds in that period. His previous profits from exiting Lloyds is not reflected in what he would say his current average price is (since getting back in).
Suf,
Unless you bought at the 2009 lows you've lost money and spent about 8 years with no dividends.
Not exactly what I'd call a "winner"
Suf
"I am a natural born WINNER"
If Lloyds has been your main investment since 2009 you missed a hell of a lot of winners. Lloyds isn't something to shout about over that time frame is it?
Love it Son
I am a natural born WINNER and you know it
Hahahaha
Now run along back to the froggie France loser
Sam
The glum share price will be making me loaded mate
Invested thousands of pounds at these prices
Loving it
Just what until the market makers wake up and smell the coffee.
This is 2013 all over again
Keep the faith
I had hoped the buyback would have been completed by now, feel for sure it will be repeated again next year ,which is fine by me ,as long as we carry on with the progressive divi policy
Suf
"When we hit 55p I be sitting on a pot of gold"
When we hit 55p I'll probably be drawing the state pension.
Sorry, feeling more glum than usual about my Lloyds shares today.
Suf
"What's not to like here"
A stagnant share price that is the same as it was a year ago, with relatively constrained near / medium term prospects due to the overall sh i te situation the UK is in (hardly Lloyds fault).
I have always been fond of the Black Horse logo though :)
Stick to Dividend payers
What's not to like here
When we hit 55p I be sitting on a pot of gold
In 2009 I started with 10,000 black beauty's
Today not saying what I now holding
Moral of the story keep it simple and keep it real, stocks and shares are a good income
Charlie boy called me to top up ( I told him I was still sitting on Dividend cash )
He was about to turn up the buy back machine today .
