On the 8th Oct 2016 I invited WL/Newchurch to choose an alternative ftse 100 company, so I could run a comparison
On 8th Oct 2016 - 1000 quid bought 206 BP. shares & 1905 Lloy shares
Today's value
BP. 206 @ 303 = 624
Lloy 1905 @ 44 = 838
In April 2017 Invest4life suggested I add Glencore -

This week's observation - Covid Infections rise - hospital cases & deaths remain low - plans for 3rd jab, Afghanistan troubles dominate news, Paralympics continue, Lloy continues to withhold shareholder funds

"Stopping the dividends being paid was unforgivable"...
I'll agree with that Theosus, but it's a lot easier to say that now. Looking back to when Covid appeared on the radar, nobody, that's nobody, knew how to deal with the unfolding situation.
To end up with most of the population being quarantined, the introduction of furlough and all the associated precautions it was at that time a prudent measure. Furthermore this action was not restricted to the UK, particularly galling for Lloyds holders.
As I said earlier economic clarity is hard to define.
I agree re the dividends, especially the announced one which was cancelled.
Lloyds has underperformed but day traders DEFINITELY haven't helped their cause!
Theosus,
It's also noticeable that you haven't included say HSBC in your comparison?
Lloyds hasn't done well but scare stories regarding Brexit and people trading on others nervousness hasn't done this any favours at all.
Theosus
While I have to agree that currently Lloy SP is not great . . .
I can't agree words such as 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' apply

This week's observation - India 'Delta' variant concern rises, Infection rates rising fast - hospital cases & deaths remain low, Adult jab roll out continues, Nissan gigafactory, 'Green list' travel additions, Labour hold Batley&Spen, Han**** out Javid in, Footballs coming home!!!
A very basic comparison that does not include divi yield, IMO those still suggesting Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' seriously need to examine their concept of investing.
Real deal

Analysts at both Barclays and JP Morgan raised their price targets for the Lloyds share price earlier this month. Barclays upgraded its price target to 60p, an increase of 5p, while JP Morgan lifted it from 54p to 59p.**
Whilst any Analyst upgrade is encouraging they are usually based on what they believe the Shares to be worth in 12 months time.
