Decided not buy today on balance and see what the results tomorrow brings, although I have feeling in my water that they will bounce up a bit.
Legal and general have been increasing profits by about 7% a year for 5 years (excluding last year). A continuous increase at 7% a year is a better than average growth. As they don't intend on increasing dividends at the same rate that implies increased investment which equals increased growth. Either way 7% compound is good growth not a FAANG growth but good growth.
Gone quiet on bulk annuity purchases lately, but I'm expecting circa 1B NP tomorrow for half yr with higher expectations of future growth.
Then hopefully some big shot analyst will spot that they've overspent on paperclips , which will send the price crashing 10%(thinking RKT ULVR here) then we can all top up @ £2.40. I'm not greedy.
That makes sense. Getting diversified (including as regards stock exchange/country, sector, risk-level, short-term/long term play, etc) seems to be the safest and in general the most successful way to go.
What the heck LGEN price action in last few days portends for tommorow seems hard to interpret. Yesterday was green I think and today began green, went red, and (last time I looked) is heading back to green.
I agree with what you said about no great growth. But I think it could go up a little bit in next few months. And If I was gambling man, 1. Id probably be broke and 2. I would put a bit on the SP being about 2.5% in the green by the close of play tomorrow.
Bbobt, big dividend payers such as this, don't usually have much growth potential, but you will get opurtunitys to top up when the sp drops, and with dividend acumulation, don't thing you will go far wrong here
Just my opinion

"Who knew the market could go down as well as up" me!!
It was cheap before the crash and the market clearly overreacted (with the benefit hindsight!)
I await to see if it's overreacted on the upside and will inform you that it did....with the benefit of hindsight!!
Hopefully it will be good, lgen have a very good track record for increasing their dividend each year
DLG got good reactions to its interim results today. Will LGEN deliver good results too tomorrow? Let's hope so but so far the run up isn't great. It's red now.
Hi
Have just reactivated LSE forum account (which I dont think I ever used). Did ok as first time investor last year (especially in renewables) when the going was easy. But have struggled a bit this year. Who knew the market could go down as well as up?! Still in OK profit but would be good to be able to turn clock back to February 2021 and have sold then.
Have recently bought into LGEN as seems to be overly beaten down atm and I wanted to start accumulating some "safe" long term, good dividend, stocks.
Though am waiting for tomorrow with baited breath as market seems so volatile atm and good earnings are not necessarily clear indicator of how SP will change.
Would be great to hear any thoughts on tomorrow from those who know about LGEN.

Yes as I posted earlier what’s the feeling for tomorrow, have held and sold these over the years and thinking of doing so again .

Legal & General Group PLC Half Year Results
Don't think the hospitals are overwhelmd so much, it's also about risk factors, about a quarter of people who died with covid, actually contracted the virus whilst in hospital for other treatments
Yes robleo, think I'll give up.
Let's get back LGEN. Oh, it doesn't look too good though. May see red but hope not.
Good luck my friend.
Err, due to a lack of nurses and doctors?!
He has a point about certainly about the nightingales, why were they never used, why aren't they used now for covid patients that are not serious critical illness, its an inexcusable joke to then say hospitals are still stretched.
SIDI - The politicians you believe in so implicitly, abandoned those suffering from cancer and other diseases for the last eighteen months by closing hospitals to them, to back up their scaring every one into believing their lies. The Nightingale hospitals, set up by their friends at enormous cost to us and enormous benefit to their friends, closed without being needed. You resort to abuse while I deal in facts. If the government were really concerned about the nation’s health, would they really still be sending the RNLI to bring migrants with new phases of TB and other diseases into the country? No doubt you have invested too much of your credence into wearing your mask to now admit you had been conned.
In fact, maybe people like Ratbags don't even believe that there are cancer and aids. They think the politicians invented them as well in order to make a lot of money. The reason they don't believe is because they haven't got it and none of their families got it. They probably will believe it when one day they have got it themselves. Until then it's hard to convince them when they are hell bent on believing in all sorts of conspiracy theories.
I can't believe it! There are 3 recommendations for Ratbags's post. Now I understand why this ungodly disease cannot be contained and keeps on spreading. Because there far too many Ratbags!!! They are probably more than half of the population!! OMG!
Robleo, I already said it's total wasting of time talking to him. Also like what you said, he is beyond help. Just let him be. Maybe one day he will learn what's COVID-19 the hard way.
Can't be bothered to reply to this idiot ratbag, he's either a troll or mentally disturbed, very possibly both
I had two cricket friends who died of Covid last year. One was 80 the other 60. I miss them both. I am fully jabbed but still cautious.
You carefully examine the runes of the financial commentators and still have doubts relating to how your previous decision one played out, but you all believe everything politicians tell you about the scamdemic they have invented.
Are the annual numbers of deaths more this year than 2019? What leads you to disbelieve what is before your own eyes - no bodies in the street, no queues of hearses waiting at the crematoriums, but politicians enjoying themselves inventing new ways to ruin your lives and getting rich doing it.
MrMath, no offense but were you suggesting that we should get rid of the railways when a train accident killed a few people or stop flying because plane crashes killing passengers?
Side effects by medicines kill lots of people every day. Should people stop taking medication all together?
Yes, the COVID vaccines are not perfect, so what? They can still save millions and millions from being harmed by the disease.
Please open you eyes and look at the big pictures, don't just listen to a few complaints.
MrMath. You do the Maths. January 2021 50K Cases / day in UK - 1800 death. July2021 50K cases. - 70 deaths. Plus 2 heart attacks.
Don't we all just play the odds in life? We try to manufacture the best position for our loved ones.
If only LGEN was as reliable as the vaccines, I'd be all in.
Mr math, that's very unfortunate my friend, sorry to hear that, unfortunately a small percentage of people have been badly effected by vaccines, but on the whole, there no doubt the vaccines have saved many many lives, and the virus has sadly cut many lived short
