anyone knows why its rising???
Hoping for a" new broom "to revive the brand and maybe with my inevitable losses PP might get the cheque book out! There is a whole new section of punters who are probably unaware that Ladbrokes were once market leaders Lack of retention of customers is an issue which can be easily addressed. Its a shame that Cyril Mean Steins legacy has been tainted
Look after your broom
Not what I would call positive (from a non investor ). Just bar room chat but why invest in here then bet with PAP. You get where I'm coming from trigger
Bought back in today on the basis "They cant be that bad" Probably not the best of reasons as they will have a whole host of shops on long leases at premium rents in dodgy locations which is going to cost them a small fortune in reverse premiums to get shot of They wont even have the benefit of my losses for Cheltenham as they are heading Paddy Powers way. Ladbrokes Customer Services department labouring under some sort of grave misunderstanding that once you have opened up an account -you are in for life and dont need servicing LOL
'Decent article on Hot Ducks* Dividend Portfolio member LAD... http://www.spreadbetmagazine.com/blog/ladbrokes-worth-a-punt.html Still cheap enough at the mo' at 118p & goes Ex-Dividend for 4.6p on 26/03/15 (Annualised Divi' = 8.9p = 7.5% on 118p) * See LSE General Chat "Hot Ducks"
I know both lads and this market reasonably well I think, having spent 8 years in the latter with the former ;-) Still much to do methinks. Apropos of nothing lads was an early leader in online until the arrival of the new CEO and departure of the MD of egaming, followed by some very bad strategic calls. I don't think the Retail guys hold any culpability, they've broadly hit their numbers throughout the period. The appointment of the new CEO is key, I think.
You right to a certain extent BFB1. However as I mentioned earlier this market is huge and Ladbrooks have just bee slow to get on board with the internet . They now have in place a new team dedicated to grab this market or a share of it .They are also streamlining their operation in the closure of its non profit making High St offices I still have faith that Ladbrooks will win through. GLA
The dividend really is all that continues to shore things up...
Ladbrokes to close 60 shops as tax hits profits: Ladbrokes will cut around 300 jobs as 60 high street bookies shut their doors this year with more closures to come, the outgoing Chief Executive Richard Glynn said
Ladbrokes maintains dividend in tough conditions: Investors in Ladbrokes breathed a sigh of relief after the embattled bookmaker vowed to maintain this year’s dividend despite a tough trading and regulatory environment.
Ladbrokes on hold as they suffer dip: Bookmaker Ladbrokes dipped 6¼p to 115¾p as broker Deutsche Bank cut its buy rating to hold and warned the company may need a strategic rethink to revive its fortunes.
i think that LAD have already bottomed. Yesterday's broker rating is a blip. The company are slowly turning themselves around . They have moved into the rapidly growing Internet gambling side of the business and although not leading the way are making good ground and marketing quite aggressively . I have led this share for some time and feel that it has a good future even if it is steady rather than rapid.....and they still pay a healthy divi.
The moment Ladbrokes goes below £1 it will be such a ''psychological'' blow for them that it may plunge a lot lower subsequently.
I like it! How low can LAD go? I'm hoping for less than £1 and maybe a lot less before I pounce.
pence a share did you say ?
LAD were too busy converting kebab shops and laundrettes while the competition developed their online platforms and creating new channels to market. LAD has been playing catch up ever since, an analogue board trying to survive in a digital world.
Takeover? who in there right mind would buy into mediocracy? Ladbrookes will soon be sub £1.
arrogant bod and tatty shops, not surprised they are closing some. Not good for employees who work in the shops as most are in deprived areas. LAD should have addressed their store refit program a few years ago when the likes of Betfred were snapping up market share and bringing a brighter look to the High St Betting Shop.. Time will tell, but surely it can't be too long before a takeover or partnership is announced?
Ladbrokes set to close more betting shops: Ladbrokes will announce a further cut to its shops portfolio, taking the total number of net closures in the past year to 150 as regulation and tax pressures continue to hurt high street bookmakers
Seems to be happy to bounce around these levels now.Something has to give. Results next week.Any predictions.
243.10 in March 2013 now 119.10 - what are the expectations for 2015 please?
a "possible trading error". Looking at LAD's reported trades, for now this seems to make the most sense. - GLA. Catch up later.
Nezlob, thanks. I know what a daily UT is. Link explains it for those others unsure. Quote: "Once the uncrossing price has been determined and which buy and sell orders get matched, all of the matched orders put together are reported as a single trade, of type “UT” (for “Uncrossing Trade”) and size equal to the total number of shares changing hands." http://www.jargon-free.com/auction-and-ut-trades/68/ What's new to me is the "price monitoring extension". First time I've come across one, so it'll be interesting how market reacts tomorrow. - All the best!
These are when there is a big (sudden) movement in price, and looks lile gives brokers chance to review what they might have ordered pre auction. Don't think I know what I am talking about, it just how the RNS reads!
