Hi Metalhead,
I don't disagree with your post but Ditau was previously stated to only require RC drilling. I believe Diamond drilling is costlier and slower than RC drilling but I'm not sure of the magnitude of the differences. Is it likely that rig logistics just means that they need to carry that extra cost?
I suspect they have realised:
(a) that it makes sense to drill Ditau next after KSZ
(b) that it makes sense to use Equity Drilling / Mindea for KCB
(c) that they can’t get (or can’t economically get) a second rig with Equity / Mindea
And therefore realistically they’re not drilling KCB until early 2022.
However, there is an opportunity to make use of the relationship with Spectral to get more pre-drill data on KCB, thereby maximising chances of success.
All sounds fine to me
yes, and sounds like they managed to do downhole EM as he mentioned they were looking at the data from it.
I'm sure his words were "in the very near future".
He mentioned KSZ news will soon be out in the StockBox interview
ksz all quiet, what ever rns will be very important to the company and the companies watching they must get it right no false dawns, my thoughts air on the result as good fingers crossed.
Thanks for the responses all. Don't think BT wins any prizes for the inconsistent communication about the KCB (where even the plan for the rig changed with each interview). But in terms of news flow, maybe it will turn out better to have KCB follow the KSZ, rather than both being drilled at around the same time.
Any ideas when they'll start drilling as Ben wasn't saying?
Perhaps the new recruits have emphasized the need for further surveying/sampling.
Just read RNS again, my mistake... definitely will be both round mangentic survey and additional soil sampling for Acacia:
"Acacia (in PL036/2020, as part of the Kanye Resources JV) is now the Company's highest priority target for possible drilling in the KCB. Kavango anticipates the ground magnetic survey and further soil sampling will enable the Company to confirm initial drill collar locations."
So agree that thought it would be further along by now, but slow and steady makes sense given the possible rewards on offer! I guess we're all impatient for such an exciting project
Legal, the EMP covers all PLs so perhaps the soil sampling work to be done is not for Acacia target, but for our other areas e.g. LV banana zone.
Instead Acacia seems to be due to undergo (or already undergoing) ground EM survey, not sure why they would repeat soil sampling there when it's been done before.
That being said, maybe there's need for more soil sampling at Acacia, I didn't really understand this point::
"Work underway to optimise future soil-sampling programmes, to account for changing ground conditions across the Company's PLs"
Is this literally shifting sands (lol) or something like weather, or more figurative (e.g. target prioritisation)? Or perhaps not relevant for Acacia specifically.
Agree with you though, had thought the EMP was the final block and we'd hear the wheels of the drill rigs beginning to mobilise... I'm guessing it's never so simple haha!
Legal,
Totally agree. From 2nd Aug RNS
'Drill locations are currently being finalised' and recent interviews have certainly implied we were only waiting for the EMP to get the drill mobilised.
Great news about the EMP, but I am sure that all previous communication has been that they were ready to mobilise rigs at the KCB. Clearly, that isn't the case if they need to do these surveys and soil sampling. Not sure why this work couldn't have been completed already. Whilst I fully appreciate the need to do all this work in order to optimise target selection, don't tell the market you're ready to drill/want to drill but are just waiting on the EMP.
Or am I being too harsh/overly critical here?
Onwards and upwards, with the big news still to come!
GLA
This is great news 2022 is going to be very exciting
Still some work to do before Acacia is ready for drilling, which will be in 2 phases - shallow 'fence lines' to determine detailed stratigraphy, followed by 'comprehensive' deeper drilling to identify a resource. My guess is by the time the drilling programme is complete at Ditau, it will be just in time to start at the KCB.
Kavango Resources plc (LSE:KAV), the exploration company targeting the discovery of world-class mineral deposits in Botswana, is pleased to announce the Company has been awarded an Environmental Management Plan that covers all of its Prospecting Licences ("PLs") in the Kalahari Copper Belt (the "KCB"). These interests include PLs held within the Kanye Resources Joint Venture ("JV") and the LVR JV.
Environmental Management Plan awarded
- EMP covers all the Company's Prospecting Licences ("PLs") in the KCB
- EMP valid for 2 years
Ø Final phase of field exploration underway, towards initial target selection
- Re-logging of data from historic drill holes
- Ground magnetic survey underway on the southern limb of the Acacia target, in the South Ghanzi Project (part of Kanye Resources)
- Work underway to optimise future soil-sampling programmes, to account for changing ground conditions across the Company's PLs
- Initial drill strategy being finalised
