Kavango Metals 'gearing up' after announcing Botswana joint venture with Power Metal Resources
Kavango Resources PLC's (LON:KAV) Mike Moles speaks to Proactive London following the announcement of the Botswana strategic joint venture with Power Metal Resources.
The venture will see the formation of a new, jointly owned, privately held company that is focussed on large-scale mineral exploration projects in Botswana.
Moles says 'things are really gearing up now' and is confident funding is now in place to concentrate on resources in the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ).
Shame it has been somewhat lost in market sell off today. Really good news though as it enables KAV to focus on KSZ whislt still progressing its' other assets.

KAVANGO RESOURCES PLC
("Kavango" or "the Company")
Botswana Strategic Joint Venture with Power Metals
Kavango Resources plc (LSE:KAV), the exploration company targeting the discovery of world-class mineral deposits in Botswana, is pleased to announce the formation of a Strategic Joint Venture with Power Metal Resources Plc (LSE:POW) ("Power Metals").
The Strategic Joint Venture will see the formation of a new, jointly owned, privately held company that is focussed on large-scale mineral exploration projects in Botswana (the "Strategic Joint Venture").
The Strategic Joint Venture will enable Kavango to inject new liquidity into its wider project portfolio, accelerate its plans for more extensive field exploration of the Kalahari Copper Belt Project (KCB) and focus its resources on target evaluation, followed by drilling, in the northern (Hu****si) section of the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ).
v Formation of new Botswana focussed exploration company
- Jointly-owned and operated by Kavango and Power Metals
- Privately held initially, with prospecting licenses covering 2,680km(2) of highly prospective land
v Kavango to transfer to the Strategic Joint Venture:
- Its two rare earths & copper prospecting licenses that cover the Ditau Project
- Two wholly owned copper prospecting licenses PL036/2020 and PL037/2020 on the KCB
v Power Metals to pay:

- Up to GBP10,000 to cover costs of incorporating the Strategic Joint Venture
v Power Metals to issue:
- 6,000,000 shares in Power Metals to Kavango at 1.25p per share
- 5,000,000 warrants in Power Metals to Kavango, exercisable at 2p per share with a two-year life & 1 for 1 replacement warrants, exercisable at 5p per share over two years
v Kavango to initiate immediately the next phases of field exploration on the two KCB licences and at Ditau
v The Strategic Joint Venture will be incorporated to enable a future separate listing, expected to be on a Canadian or British stock exchange.
Michael Foster, Chief Executive Officer of Kavango Resources, commented:
"We are delighted to confirm our Strategic Joint Venture with Power Metals.
Over the course of completing the due diligence for the sale of the interest in our Ditau Project it became clear there was a much greater opportunity for both parties.
Thanks to our extensive experience of working in Botswana, Kavango has been able to secure large-scale exploration projects. Each of these holds a great deal of potential, but our primary focus has always been on the KSZ.
Now that we have confirmed the Strategic Joint Venture with Power Metals, we can leverage the expertise and energy of the two companies to drive forward our current in
EM, JV and drilling. Probably in that order. EM anytime now as they are back on the ground. JV soon-ish ahead of drilling in the New year? And yes everything now points towards a big find. Fingers crossed.
"That’s why this is so significant. We are now looking at something that really could host a very large massive sulphide deposit. So it’s really very exciting’
Kavan stop. Felt like somebody needed to say something. Last few posts here full of good stuff though don't want to dilute. So any more magnetic surveying this year? What's next news? We are the new Norilsk? No pressure.
The StockBox Media team were delighted to interview Mike Moles, Kavango Resources director about the recently released 3D modelling images for the Kalahari Suture Zone and the similarities to Norilsk
The StockBox Media team welcomed back Alan Green of Brand UK for his weekly research talks
Under the spotlight:
Anyone know what the anticipated broker forecasts are for KAV .
Liquidity not the best but if you look at the register the Directors are well invested. The Norilisk potential looks to be only part - although a big part of the way forward and we have every possibility of seeing a massive uplift in valuation in the coming weeks as the management and the prospects are top drawer.
Morning All .
Seems like KAV have some interesting results and positive future , but why is the spread so wide making it a sit and wait process to see gains?
A 3D sectional view looking south down the KSZ (Hu****si section). It shows the "keels" and "wings " of the sills very nicely. The "keels" are where we would expect to find metal sulphide mineralisation as per the schematic (Barnes et al 2015) of a typical sill at Norilsk.

Kavango shares 'striking' geological similarities to giant Norilsk nickel project in Russia
Mining Capital's Alastair Ford updates Proactive London following an update earlier this week from Kavango Resources PLC (LON:KAV). They've published initial images of three dimensional geological modelling developed from data obtained from the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) project in south-western Botswana. The images confirm significant similarities between the northern Hu****si section of the KSZ and the giant Norilsk mining centre in Siberia. Norilsk accounts for 90% of Russia's nickel reserves, 55% of its copper and virtually all of its' platinum group metals.
“If Kavango are correct it could be the next big thing in the mining industry”
Coming to fruition of a long period of desktop work undertaken during lock down
Based on compilation of huge amount of data from varying sources on KSZ (drill holes, airborne EM, existing available data etc.)
Built up a 3D picture of what is underneath Kalahari sands in collaboration with world leader Mira Geoscience
Big advance in moving toward finding a copper/nickel deposit
3D images of KSZ sills are remarkably similar to those at Norilsk – very encouraging
The sills have a deep keel to them and that’s where the massive sulphides reside like at Norilsk
Have now found the keels at the KSZ and can see them in 3D
Pick 5 or 6 best looking targets
Have just got back on the ground – large loop ground based EM surveying this year and drilling 2021
Only drill down to approx. 400m
Re: financing - Preferred option is a JV partner to share drilling costs of what would be an extensive campaign
History of prudent financial management and coming in under budget (though this has sometimes led to longer timescales)
Working towards proof of concept – got to demonstrate that our theory is correct – we are very close to that point
Once concept is proven then it will be relatively easy to find a JV partner and on good terms
Micro-probe work being done soon on nickel depletion at University of Leicester – final box to be ticked on similarities between KSZ and Norilsk
Most important thing now is to get the geophysical work done – once see conductive zones in the keels of the sills, and we anticipate there will be, then decide on drilling program and a JV partner
Thanks for posting BurtonD, another interesting interview with MM. Another step on the way to a major resource....
#KAV co-founder Mike Moles is confident the company is close to presenting a Kalahari Suture Zone proof of concept and expands further here with @copytaster
It seems that all the trades are small volume so far. Could really do with some substantial positions being taken (unless delayed trades go through later?) to push this over 3p. Come on Mike, lets have another interview! :-)
I've taken a small position here it's interesting to watch and could be epic. The set up of a data room for potential buyers and partners after Indaba means something big could happen. Just took enough to keep my interest for now will be great to see the next more targeted drilling results.
Market likes it too! Too much to hope that we get over 3p today?
Yes, that's more like it! Hard to believe that there AREN'T riches to be found in the KSZ after that! We need some indication of thetimescale for a drill campaign (maybe a JV now?? and we can then seriously build a decent MCap here.
This is a promising bit of news.

KAVANGO RESOURCES PLC
(“Kavango” or “the Company”)
3D Model confirms KSZ Norilsk style rock formations
Kavango Resources plc (LSE:KAV), the exploration company targeting the discovery of world-class mineral deposits in Botswana, is pleased to publish initial images from its computerised 3D geological modelling, developed from data obtained from Kavango’s Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ) project in south-western Botswana (the “3D Model”).
These images confirm significant similarities between the northern (Hu****si) section of the KSZ and the giant Norilsk mining centre in Siberia. Norilsk accounts for 90% of Russia's nickel reserves, 55% of its copper and virtually all of its platinum group metals.
Kavango increasingly believes that Hu****si has the potential to host very significant copper, nickel and platinum group metal deposits.
? Kavango is the first company to prepare a computerised 3D geological model of the Kalahari Suture Zone (KSZ).
? Kavango’s geophysical team is conducting the 3D modelling in conjunction with Mira Geoscience, a world leader in computerised 3D imagery of geological and geophysical data.
? The 3D Model incorporates thousands of data points, collected from:
- 2 phases of airborne electro magnetic (EM) and magnetic surveying
- Drill hole data and CSAMT resistivity surveys over the northern (Hu****si) section of the KSZ
? The images depict flat lying Karoo gabbro sills in 3D, which bear a remarkable resemblance to those containing large deposits of copper, nickel and platinum group metal (Cu/Ni/PGM) rich massive sulphides in the Norilsk mining centre in Siberia.
- 10 district-scale sills identified, covering over 300km2 in aggregate
- Most of the sills lie within 400m of the surface, making them viable exploration targets
? Illustrative cross-sectional diagrams, highlighting “Norilsk style” rock formations and possible trap zones for massive sulphides, provided on the Company’s website
? Kavango’s geologists will now work to select up to six of the most prospective targets for follow up exploration and drilling.
Michael Foster, Chief Executive Officer of Kavango Resources, commented:
“The imagery coming out of the computer-generated geological model is quite spectacular and potentially transformational for the Company. We are now able to view the gabbroic intrusions in 3D. We can see their shape, size thickness and their depth from surface. We can clearly identify and locate the thicker parts of the sills for follow up EM surveying. This is a major step forward in our exploration, which should culminate in an extensive drilling programme in the KSZ.”
The Hu****si 3D Model
Over recent months, Kavango’s geophysical team has been entering thousands of data points into the powerful Mira Geoscience 3D modelling software package.
The data includes proprietary data gathered by the Company from its surveying and drilling work in the KSZ, as well
DJG, now is a great time to build a position (IMO) as we are drifting a bit waiting for clarity on next steps/deals/financing. However, as skiboy says over on advfn, volume and price perked up a little yesterday so maybe next week will bring some news to move this on? I would rather be in than out!
