Any thoughts on why this has tanked by over 48% today?
Could not understand recent falls in sp of this company. Seems a good few in the city expected poor results. Happy to note how wrong they were.
Great company. IHT benefits too. I’ve been watching JHD for years but only now got around to putting money in.
A sound, solid investment for the long term.
It seems nobody wants to chat about Halstead. Wonder way, as long term investor they seem a very well run and highly competent company worthy of attention.
I see today JHD has reached the short list for the 2020 AIM awards
Not many people on this chat line as last post over 2 years ago. Anyway only another £1 to get back to pre Covid etc., should make that in the next 6 months .
A good rise on an otherwise red day for markets This is a good solid company. Long may it continue!
Another positive RNS the company continues to prosper and increase turnover. Trade is spread across the world providing strength in the uncertainty of Brexit. Major competitor in trouble , looks like this company is positioned well .
Hello Jollyspeculator, last July you posted a sell note at 408.50, with an observation "why so expensive". The sp closed on Friday at 529.00. It wasn't expensive then and not expensive now. Hopefully the sp will be nearer 600 before end of summer, then I may take my profit. Just a good company, that keep on giving some positive news. DAR
v high ev/ebit..but why??
like the extra divvy announced today ... GLA ..
The Market should like today's statement particularly the increased dividend. Should be a good day for the share price .
Record profits at James Halstead: JAMES Halstead [LON:JHD], the manufacturer of floor coverings, may not operate in the most exciting sector, but record profits, strong cash generation and a 40-year track record of rising dividends make the shares well worth a closer look. The Manchester-based manufacturer has a 100-year history of production and has become one of the world leaders in vinyl flooring. Vinyl may sound very Seventies, but Halstead has invested in creating technically advanced flooring that is both low-cost and hard-wearing. Halstead’s 10-year track record is also impressive; it has more than doubled revenue while pretax profits tripled. Having weathered the strong sterling currency storm, the company should get help in the second half of the year from falling raw material prices. Halstead said the profit margins improved by 1% during the first half as raw materials which, being plastics-based are partly linked to oil prices, fell by up to 6%. That leaves market expectations for full year pretax profits of £44 million, giving earnings per share of about 16p, looking perfectly achievable. The only issue is that the shares are looking expensive as they are near record highs, and trading on 20 times forecast earnings per share, which is a high rating given the single digit earnings growth. That said, the premium to the wider market looks justified, with Halstead’s track record of profits and return of cash to shareholders. Questor is always wary about paying a high price for shares, and some investors may prefer to wait, but given the underlying quality they are a buy for the long-term. James Halstead at 330p-4.25p. Questor Says “Buy”.
AGM statement today, see RNS, implies coping well with poor economies in Continental Europe :-)
North ???
I agree ,the share price will start going north today
... so now I'll get back to sleep for another six months... GL all....
in my town, nice looking carpet, but will look terrible in 6 months and won't be replaced for many years.... can't understand why they don't buy JHD flooring!!
Just 3.2% yield. And SP that is comatose.
This company has just kept going somewhere for many years, and may it long continue to do so..thankyou
Makes very high quality floors (I've got two of these (Karndean) in the house, but main biz is industrial/commercial) ... and pays an increased divvy year after year ... I don't really want it to "go" anywhere else!
Can't work out where this company is going - if anywhere. Thoughts?
Some peculiar buying activity today!
