Well reading comments here, you will note mostly it is about "someone" coming in with a takeover bid. In contrast noboby mentions a quality "product" with a future and public demand. The shares have supposedly been available at a low valuation for many months,no sign of a buyer. Seems ITV is priced at only what it is worth, so settle for a divi some time soon and be content.
5eightsaccount "The reasons why the share price is so weak is probably because of the following:-' etc etc.
ironically this post actually highlights what might be the reason for little movement in the share price. Everything listed should indicate a share advancing however, consider this, nearly every think listed is the here and now, ie Love Island and Euros will be history quite shortly and there is nothing certain about travel or the world we live in. All of these indicate a cyclical cycle. For this to break there needs to be a clear strategic direction of where the company is going and how it will provide sustained profits that are not heavily geared towards advertising revenue. The challenge is from the likes of Netflix and the inroads they will make on broadcasters like iTV. Surely city and institutions have already factored in the short term impactors what they must be looking for is a clear business plan and strategy going forward. I have no idea if the board are doing enough in this area and it could be they are laying the foundations for a bright future. I am reasonably confident they are but it might take time for this to reflect on the share price.
5eightsaccount do I detect a note of sarcasm here?
The reasons why the share price is so weak is probably because of the following:-
1. Record viewing numbers across all ITV platforms for Love Island and Euro 2020 in June
2. Record up-front sponsorship for Love Island
3. Record number of companies associated with the Love Island Brand
4. Record advertising revenue for the Euro Semi-final tonight (its a 4hour football marathon !)
5. Record June income/profits in the company's history
6. Record July income/profits in the company's history
And with travel now opening up expect to see airlines, hotel companies etc. increasing their advertising budgets as we all look forward to holidays in 2022 with a bit of luck.
ITV also has a profit/cash conversion of around 85% so hence the rumours about the re-instatement of a dividend.
And that's why the share price is so weak.
Hope that helps
I've no clue either. This should be one of the best shares around and we should be on the up here. No idea why it drops when it does.
I placed ten pounds on the match last night to go to penalties and won almost £150.
I might as well sell my £40,000 holding in this hound and do the same tonight.

I am at a loss to see all the trades that went through yesterday to se it drop so much if at all.
As a very inexperienced investor I am at a loss to understand this share price. It has a very low P/E ratio and is clearly in the middle of a huge increase in revenue and yet, even when the Index is moving higher, this share moves lower. Does anyone have an explanation or is it simply manipulation by the market makers. It is interesting that the volumes have been very low with very few buyers despite the promotion to the FTSE 100.
Nice..........

Peachy111 No offence, but really - . 'Political catchphrase' or political correctness gone mad. Inoffensive and benign phrase that's part of our literary world and embedded worldwide in the very ethos of bettering ourselves by learning from the past.
No offence J but I deplore the term "lessons to be learnt" it's become a political catchphrase.
P
Peachy111 - I suspect you are right, lets hope lessons have been learnt before the real vital games.
J.....not blowing my own trumpet but as an (ex) semi-professional footballer this has nowt to do with the players (with exception to Sterling who is clueless) This is more to do with Southgate.....who like Sterling is also clueless.

this article will have as much impact on ITV as our current English strike force
I mentioned last week that Love Island will most likely have record viewing figures this year and it seems that advertisers whom were late to the Love Island party in 2019 are getting in early and once again its ching ching for ITV !!!!

Yes, yet more good news for ITV, hence why the stock is down again today :)

Hi Davielad, I would have guessed at either Scottish or a scouser mate.
Neither do I Nige - and I am Scottish!
Yes agreed Doug, good if all the home nations qualify for the knockout stages. Although, I don't fancy Scotland's chances.
Boost to itv with Wales winning in Euros pretty much guaranteed to get into the knockouts now. Good late surge to SP late on today I notice.
Pomegranate, I think your assumption is correct as far as "trackers" are concerned as opposed to funds "specialising" shares in both in FTSE 100 And 250 companies
