Agreed, Avyererdowt. These are interesting times and can't be hurried.
Sincerely hope that this is the week
Dawski, I had a chat with someone who would know about this last week. My understanding is Gael are no longer taking the project forward. However they currently have a planning application in with the Dept for Infrastructure (DFI) and DFI are likely to ask the PAC (Planning Appeals Commission) to hold a public inquiry with regards to the planning application.
It does work to do that but it doesn't make the document user friendly....it's made just about as difficult as possible to see all the projects. dates applied for and dates granted etc.
You can see one or two at a time, but only half of them, then you have to break off, go to bottom of page, slide it along and return to where you were to pick up the second half of the info.
Difficult if you want to easily compare ALL timespans between submission and grant of licence.....one of those corporate things designed to meet legal requirements but make it possible only for the very determined........but thanks for pointing it out.
OK found it right down the bottom...thanks.
I didn't look at the whole thing!
might work on mobile if you drag won't on a pc,
if your on a pc right click on the middle mouse button so it turns in to a directional point and then move it across
No...doesn't work on mine.
Snowman, it was you. https://www.daera-ni.gov.uk/articles/marine-licensing-public-register Works fine for me
Forgot who said the links' tabulated info was truncated.. But it's not. Try again and drag the table left. All columns vusible
Which would mean the equity partners would be happy to crack on, knowing there's a fall back option. Makes sense.
Well said,Mr Snowman and good to chat with you last eve.I respect that not all of the residents are happy with the Project BUT
Let's also not forget how very lucky we are to have Judith (one of the Directors who lives locally and one involved in the project from inception) having built such a positive relationship to date with a fair section of the local community.
In one of my recent posts I referred to her as " having the natives under control". My sense of humour got ahead of me and i should upon reflection have said "having the locals in a continuing working mutually productive relationship" or words to such effect.
The Company regards local support of the project of paramount importance and always has.The Company has earmarked substantial initial funding for community use at it's own discretion.
The Island of Ireland and in particular the North and Belfast area are actually ever so lucky to have this project now moving forward for security of gas supply being at the very end of the pipeline.
I understand that a draft Marine Licence is all that could be provided until FEED was completed and now it is we can make rapid progress converting it into a full Licence
We will currently build 2 caverns in phase 1 and then 5 more in phase 2.We will only build 8 if we need and 8th one and only if we are then granted all necessary further consents.
This very necessary project is suddenly becoming viable.Respect for all considerations ( ecological and local ) form a significant amount of the planning todate.
I think the fact that part had even come up means that worst come worst it just doesn't go in the sea, it's obviously possible or he wouldn't have mentioned selling the salt so could get the license that way so not really sure the license is an issue?
Maybe this is why JW was so interested in processing and selling the salt a little while back...
Let's not forget that JW is presenting a joint paper with a blue chip at the solution mining conference.....all in hand?
The following link from 2016 shows details of Gaelectric's attempts at getting a marine licence for discharge from the salt caverns.

company gone from what i can see - https://www.irishtimes.com/business/energy-and-resources/gaelectric-shareholders-to-get-more-than-expected-from-asset-sales-1.3663361
Hi guys ...what is the current position please with the project by Gael to store compressed air in salt caverns at islemagee ? They seem to have had quite a lot of E.U. Grants already ..any information will be welcome.
Tony P... Fantastic research! Can't get much better comments than from the dup leader herself! Lovely start to a Sunday morning :)
Of the 100+ Marie licences applied for since 2012, just 2 state "Licence Application Not Granted". Bodes well. Furthermore I noticed some other noteworthy applications:
Construction Moyle Interconnector Ltd. Installation of two conductor cables within the NI inshore region Moyle Interconnector, Portmuck South, Islandmagee, Co. Antrim (ISSUED)
Gaelectric Energy Storage (GEAS) Intake/Outlet pipe* Islandmagee, Co. Antrim (ONGOING)
White Young Green Consultants Long Sea Outfall Pipe* Ballyferris (ISSUED)
* A marine outfall is a pipeline or tunnel that discharges municipal or industrial wastewater, stormwater, combined sewer overflows, cooling water, or brine effluents from water desalination plants to the sea.
So much of it at the moment :(
Fake news Naz!!
450 metre pipeline from the site would result in the saltly brine returning into the Larne lough killing the fish and wild life.
Any more longer pipelines would destroy the beauty spot, fishing, wild life, and destroy swimming at the local tourist spots of Brown 's Bay and other beaches on the Antrim coast.
The cost of taking it a few miles would be very high by ships.
As for Arlene she has no say as there is no power sharing in Stormont which has any say.
As for the alliance MLA then he is right to have serious concern in the Larne area..
It is an insulting to blame this alliance MLA for not getting more funds from the EU.
Germany,France,Greece,Spain and even Italy are all in finance trouble within the European Union.
They are all going into recession and as the UK Brexits where will they get more money to finance the European Union never mind giving money to infra.
Nice one, see how it all ties up.
Re. Arlene Foster...yes, that's very good news.....after conversations I've had tonight I believe that she is definitely still onside....but DYOR.
Thanks Tony,
I've contacted the Marine Strategy and Licensing Branch of DAERA Marine and Fisheries Division for more up to date information.
