whatamess,
You didn't answer my question...
Are you happy with the latest "news"?
A six month delay is down to more than EU bureaucracy.
No-one has yet been able to answer my question as to whether these funds remain payable to INFA should the IslandMagee project fall over. I suspect not, in which case I would do exactly as the EU are doing, were I in their shoes. Given the likely fatally parlous state of the company's finances (thanks, JW!), just sit tight and wait either for the gas storage project to collapse, due either to the lack of the necessary licence or simply through running out of cash, or for INFA simply to go bust in its entirety. Thanks again, JW.
After all, what is INFA going to do - sue the EU? Good luck funding that action...
Do access the NI FerrySite for a time lapsed video of the building of this new beauty from keel laying to launching in China ..fascinating ...if only we had been able to retain the skills over here in Belfast but I suppose that with Chinese Central Government highly disciplined control, cheap steel and raw materials and plentiful cheap labour we had no hope of competing.
Stena Edda is a new breed of larger faster ships replacing the Stena Lagan and others on the Birkenhead-Belfast route.....one of you more clever than I may be able to produce the link ..someone like Spud or Chris !!!
About as much use as the proverbial chocolate fire guard..but at least it shows that the BOD is mindful of our extreme frustrations on this debacle ..probably not entirely under their control as I know from meetings such as the AGM that they have spent considerable time and trouble chasing the funds.......as one senior politician remarked last autumn :
" we are best well out of the E.U. if only to rid ourselves of any liability for the rampant fraud on funds in E. Europe and Southern Italy which far exceeds the loss to the UK economy caused by the likes of Indian Call Centre fraudsters ".....actually quite relevant today due to the planned Panorama program though that has been shelved and replaced by an insight into our new enemy, Miss Coronavirus !!
We know what the eu are like , bet if it was a German or France company it would have been done and dusted by now
Jesus at last we have clarity on the EU funds, or do we?
The company will receive an official reply shortly? when is that likely to be? February 2021?
I would think it should have stated the company will receive the funds shortly should it not? why would we be waiting a reply?
I cant see what the issue is personally, the funds are rightly ours, agreed by the EU when the grant application was submitted! EU up yours, get those funds into our bank account pronto and stop pi***** about for goodness sake.
Progress?
Mr T
Soz, missed a T.

Cheers for your reply. I don't think contract wins warrant rns releases but I firmly believe that there should be more (social) media exposure. We have saved an iconic industry from going to the dogs, and every ship and bit of work should be celebrated with maximum pr. Currently the only tweet from h&w has been about a renewable energy conference (though I'm not complaining about that one bit)
Although my family and Trust are in for the long haul here still, sadly I have little influence having been side stepped by the big City boys ...which,I suppose, is actually a good thing as it creates a valued mix of shareholding and with parties that are also in for the long term ...supposedly so ! The BOD should not be bothered to announce each and very bit of contract news but some content about performance todate for the yard and likely prospects in general for the next two months would be welcome ---riding these choppy seas is tough and delays over the ML merely prolong the voyage and agony !!
Good to hear dawski! I think comms at the moment is pretty shocking. What's the new comms director doing?! Certainly not taking full advantage of the maintenance contracts. Twitter et Al is devoid of any pr regarding this. Do you have any views? Maybe you could use your influence with JW to step up the pr?
....seems to be tied up alongside our berth too as well as Dublin Swift ...maybe full employment for the yard next week though confirmatory news for March's prospects will be nice pending reaching the 26th of the month !!
There will be many casualties due to the hysteria being caused by corona, hotels, f&b, cinemas etc but H&W could get a boost as it’s the perfect time for shipping companies to give their convoys a once over if they are having downtime.
I dont think we said that?...
So a turbulent week on the markets gives JW a free pass on yet another failure to deliver (or lie, as you prefer...)?
Good find. Hopefully we'll see a return of some height to the SP when we know regularity and value of contracts. At the moment it seems coronavirus is dropping the markets in general.
