Err, not quite 29 acres of prime waterfront land. TBH.
It's kinda split, with other buisnesses in between and not quite des. res. as regards development for anything other than light industry. A lot of the land, around the back at least, is earmarked for staff parking, which I'm sure we will need for all the new staff and apprentices. :)
Been away, noice rise Friday.
Good chance of breaking 50p this week imho, news pending
Is that something to do with Land Rover, Lottie?
And I thought I was the UK's richest man. Meh!
Can he use a feck load of brine, perchance?
Save on discharge permits. :)
Ineos, owned by the UKs richest man, has signed a deal with Hyundai for the production and supply of Hydrogen. Ineos already produces 300,000 tonnes p.a. as a by product of chlorine production. The company has underground gas storage which is being considered for hydrogen. Should the ML be granted, it would not surprise me to see Jim Ratcliffe, who is building his version of the old Defender, bid for INFA. Just a thought.
BlueToff - H&W only have a lease of the parts of Belfast Harbour so does not make anything from the rest of the harbour. However in relation to Appledore H&W owns the freehold so if the land that was transferred when INFA bought the shipyard is developed INFA would get the income from that. At the recent roadshow it was indicated that they are looking at what to do with this land. The land covers 29 acres of waterfront land so has a lot of potential uses.
Excuse my ignorance but can anyone tell me what cut if any H & W get out of all the freight/cargo ships coming and going in and out of Belfast Docks. Are those loading docks ours or do we only have the shipyard and engineering works?
added more here.
Looks like we might see 50 again if the MMs stop playing their games!
Tango1 In relation to your 16.18 post bearing in mind that the law in Northern ireland is not exactly the same as in England and Wales my recollection is that in some cases it is possible to judicially review a failure to act. Please note I have not worked in administrative law in over 10 years so I may be wrong.
With respect to legal route, there has to be a decision first. I am sure if it is refused then legal route will be followed.
Mr Ozzy yes am sure he will imho
I asked the question should INFA legally challenge DAERA, at the recent Investor meeting.
JWs response was fair in that it's not a preferred route for resources. But i think we do recognise a change of tone, perhaps motivated by investors' willingness to go down that path.
JW will do the right thing.
Stokey12- agree it is quiet regarding fabrication, we did hear of the oxygen tank they made for the hospital so they must be doing some work, but not easy for us to find out what.
ThisTimeNextYeer In relation to your 11.21 posthas anything been said about other work going on at H&W apart from the ship repair? JW has mentioned about fabrication work.
For anyone interested, 'NI Ferry Site' and 'Northern Ireland Shipping' groups on Facebook are 2 sites where there is interesting information at times in relation to H & W and the comings and goings in Belfast docks.
There are several shipping enthusiasts on these sites and folk there working in various roles in the harbour estate. There's comments in these groups about Stena Europe possibly getting major deck replacement work.

Loosegoose In relation to your 09.06 post according to the Belfast Harbour website Stena Europe is in until the end of year the scheduled departure date is currently showing as 31/12/2020.
Nice spot LG
2nd time Europe has been in Harlands this year!
Team doing a great job winning repeat buisness
Stena Europe returns today. Unconfirmed reports indicate that this might for up to 8 weeks for a deck replacement. Nice steady work for the dry dock. Helps cash flow low, builds experience and credibility through another successful reference. Cruise & ferry segment doing very well with more to come.
I don't like the tone either Tango when DAERA use the term 'highly controversial'. It's not up to these desktop reviewers to decide if something's controversial or not. Their role is to assess the application and present their findings to Minister Poots. A more articulate and professional statement from DAERA could have said 'there is a lot of data to review and conflicting opinions from various parties'.
My thoughts are that INFA should ditch the 'Mr nice guy amicable approach' with DAERA and go hard at them from every angle possible to force completion and an outcome to this application. I think JW now bringing the media outlets in to highlight the DAERA dithering (and the economic consequences of it) could be the start of going harder on these folk to get an outcome.
I'm all for amicable discussion and negotiation if required, however DAERA dithering now needs strongly challenged ! !
We just need the ML before Christmas to totally transform the SP, DAERA are obviously working on it, but I did not like the tone of the report TTNY shared as for me it stank of BIAS. Regardless of their "perception of controversy" they are their to evaluate on the facts, and if and when they do that the ML will be awarded.
Everything falling into place for DW and Infrastra now well done !!:)
According to Vessel Finder the only ship in port at Appledore is the Sarah Grey. Having said that the Mormaen 15 isshown as having arrived at Appledore on the 13 November shortly after the Sarah Grey but there is no listing of her departing and is not shown as In Port
Interesting to see what NI Water have announced to kickstart the Hydrogen Economy in NI. Interesting video explaining it.
